Drake should have never pushed whatโs next as a single. The chart run is gonna be really embarrassing for him. Can you wait for the song to actually debut and begin a chart run before coming to this conclusion? Jeez.

It's a clever strategy if Wants & Needs climbs to #1 later. I assume it will have longer legs.

It's a clever strategy if Wants & Needs climbs to #1 later. I assume it will have longer legs. Maybe heโs playing the Heartless-BL run. Whatโs Next seems like its going to burn out faster while Wants and Needs seems like it will last longer and probably also go to #1 as well

It's not the first time the label-backed choice backfire. Remember when One Dance dropped yet the label backed something called Pop Style?

It's not the first time the label-backed choice backfire. Remember when One Dance dropped yet the label backed something called Pop Style? Pop Style was never backed. It was never even serviced to radio. Both songs dropped at the same time but One Dance was always the single that got pushed. Drake just wanted to drop a rap song and a more melodic offering at the same time. The two times I know he's tried pushing a single that both fans and radio flat-out rejected was around when he released More Life. He wanted to push Free Smoke as a single because he said he felt he hadn't had a rap single in a while and fans rejected it. Radio programmers went out of their way to start playing Passionfruit and that's the song the label eventually pushed instead. He also tried pushing Don't Matter to Me as a single but before it could take off, In My Feelings caught fire and put an end to that.

Whatโs Next seems like its going to burn out faster while Wants and Needs seems like it will last longer and probably also go to #1 as well Funny you say this because when I heard the preview of Blinding Lights in that Mercedes Benz ad, I knew it would be the smash hit of the Weeknd's album but I also feel like he should have given Heartless a few weeks/months to climb on radio. It was also a good single but it never got to reach it's full potential. As soon as Blinding Lights was released, that marked the end for any more singles off his album until thankfully, Save Your Tears eventually took off.

Any chance Bebe can make the Hot 100 with Sacrifice?
Also, surprised Ava is doing well on iTunes, I know it doesn't take much to get up there, but nice to see.

In the year 2021, people still think Spotify is the indicator as to how Drake will debut. Cute lol.

Spotify can be a sign, but he's a god on AM and especially on Pandora. Seriously, he's the king of Pandora.

Spotify can be a sign, but he's a god on AM and especially on Pandora. Seriously, he's the king of Pandora. Spotify at one point was the fourth streaming service during Laugh Now Cry Later's first week. Apple Music, Pandora, and YouTube were pulling higher daily numbers at some point during the first week. This isn't Bieber, Gaga, Selena, etc who are dependent on doing well on Spotify. If Drake only does 1 million in a day on Spotify, but does 4 million on Apple Music and 2 million on Pandora well... you are looking at literally less than 15% of his total numbers and basing his projectd chart performance on that.

Youtube isn't definitely pulling numbers for WN though, the video has only 11.5 million views. Hold On has 14 million and that is not doing very well either (on his standards).

Why do you still act like you aren't familiar with charts lol Bulk of Drake's views are way more US than Bieber. US YouTube (first 3 days): What's Next - 5.79 million Hold On - 282k

I think it's safe to say top 2 will be secured for Drake this week. Lemon pepper freestyle will debut somewhere between 4-7 depending on how it fares the rest of the week and just how massive those AM streams are. Based on current streaming data I honestly doubt what's next will be #1 next week with the drops in performance & with the grammy boosts songs will get next week.

Based on today's Hot 100 update for 3/13, I think we can expect I Hope, Lonely, Laugh Now Cry Later, and Hole In The Bottle to all go recurrent this week.
EDIT: Forgot to mention Starting Over, although I can see Billboard keeping it on since it has yet to reach its country radio peak. We'll see what happens to it.

I knew he was comparatively weak on Spotify, but I thought it was more like he was equal on AM and he did better than everyone else on Pandora. That's just insane given Spotify's relative size. I guess that Hotline Bling exclusive worked lol.

Like i said before, i feel like the real 2021 starts here this week. Bruno, Drake, Cardi, Abel and Sza are all here to make this year a real good one so far.

Nice video for Doja Cat. But this does feel a day too late and a dollar too short. I hope it can help increase streams and airplay.

People just use Spotify as a main indicator because their numbers are the most easily accessible. Thatโs all. Yeah, heโs destabilizing there (which doesnโt mean much because heโs still well ahead of everyone), but thatโs never been his stronghold.
Fuck u for not publishing ur numbers AM

Groovy also, you were right. I confirmed that Quavo indeed scored his first top 10 hit as a solo artist on a song with Drake. I'm the One came after, followed by Congratulations.

I knew he was comparatively weak on Spotify, but I thought it was more like he was equal on AM and he did better than everyone else on Pandora. That's just insane given Spotify's relative size. I guess that Hotline Bling exclusive worked lol. 38.4% of Audio streams from Toosie Slide came from Spotify US (other are from AM/Pandora ... YouTube not included ofc) 29.7% with video added.
30.3% of Audio streams from LNCL came from Spotify US. 22.8% when we add video.
Not only was Hotline Bling an exclusive on AM. The entire 'Views' album was AM exlusive the first 2 weeks.
When you add up: - 'Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight' from Travis being an AM exlusive - 'Evol' by Future being an AM exclusive - 'Blonde' by Frank Ocean being an AM exclusive - 'Major Key' by DJ Khaled being an AM exclusive - 'Coloring Book' by Chance the Rapper being an AM exclusive
Pharrell Williams had exclusive singles plus smaller rappers signed similar deals with AM in 2016.
So this is why Apple Music is so hip-hop centered.
You either started using AM instead of Spotify if you were a hip-hop fan or you pirated the albums (because they were unavailable on other platforms for 1-3 weeks - dependng on the deal).

I remember using spotify and deezer until 2016, when apple music had just starting to blow up, and iโve been with it ever sense. I do still got spotify but use it way less because apple has the โall inclusiveโ. You could add your own music at ease via itunes and also watch music videos. And not to mention the exclusives, the biggest one of course being Drakeโs Views which probably pulled in 80% of the hip hop audience on apple music right now.
I noticed that exclusives are completely gone, and since like 2018 artists just release their music on all platforms from day one. I guess exclusives arenโt as effective anymore, but one can just remember the apple music vs tidal war of exclusives.
