- "On A Mountain" is pretty alright. It feels like something I would've liked a few years ago when my obsession for electronic music was at its peak. That said, it's still a solid tune, just not one that I find to be all that memorable. "Blame Game" is pretty cool. Those tempo changes kind of threw me off, but in a good way haha.

- "Closer To Closure" is not bad by any means. It's more generic than anything else. The vocals are alright, but the production feels a little too poppy. I know I haven't been all that impressed with Plastic Hearts, but "Night Crawling" is pretty solid. The instrumentals are cool and Billy Idol actually helps the song quite a bit. Probably my favorite song from this album that I've heard outside of "Midnight Sky".

- "4 Thangs" is ok-ish, which is better than I was expecting. But it's hard for me to form a solid opinion on a song that's less than two minutes. I don't really get the point of having songs this short. I love Black Pumas though. They are so talented and "I'm Ready" is such a good song. I'm here for the soulfulness!

- "Wilder Days" is kind of nice, but didn't really excite me all that much. It's something that I wouldn't mind having on in the background, but not too interesting outside of that. "Too Good" is pretty great and another reason for me to check out more of Arlo Parks!

- "I Miss You" is pretty generic, and yet it still easily wins this matchup for me!

- I like the vocals on "2 Far Gone", but I find the production a little annoying in parts. Pretty alright song other than that. But I'm going with Julien Baker, whose album I've been enjoying a lot lately. A standout so far this year!

The most difficult matchup was between "Wilder Days" and "Too Good". Wade has a good voice and the storytelling was good, but Parks edged her out with the instrumentation and that yearning voice. Tim Chadwick's "Favourite Song" is a wonderful slice of 80s pop, and Freddie Gibbs (despite his dumbassery) & Big Sean's "4 Thangs" is very catchy (albeit short). "Repeat" was always going to be a slam-dunk winner for me, though "2 Far Gone" put up a fight.

Too Good is slightly more instant than Just Go but it's not that good. Wilder Days may need a bit of time to grow but the chorus is better retro alternative rock. Also in terms of songwriting they are both a bit trite, but I use the meaning of Wilder Days in album context where she is urging her SO to accept the past just like she did.

I Miss You is just another Jax Jones track. Au/Ra is a better vocalist appeared in his songs though. I fully approved of previous comments that U Get Me is AJR song sung by female and the "horns" being extremely annoying. Also there is a very small pause before the final chorus which is very jarring.

Feels like I would like 2 Far Gone more without vocals, because there are some interesting pianos. I kinda like the distortion in outro of Repeat, but her vocals seem a bit too plain.

I'm glad you liked "Repeat" "Favor" is my favorite song on Julien's latest album & it was my first pick. It made it in March Madness as Adrian's pick so definitely look out for it! We have two more songs that made it, "Faith Healer" & "Hardline". They're great as well. I would add "Highlight Reel" as my last recommendation. Basically the entire album.

- The instrumental in “CYR” is really nice. Honestly a solid song, at times I kind of wish it picks up a bit more but overall it’s definitely a nice listen. I absolutely love the eeriness of “Knives”, definitely clicked with me on first listen. I enjoy both of these but “Knives” stuck with me just a bit more.

- “Gravity” is so good, like I really love the vibe of it. I definitely want to come back to it. “peace” is exactly what the title of the song says it is- definitely very peaceful. It isn’t really my favorite song on Folklore, but it’s still pretty nice.

- I think it takes me a bit to warm up to voices like that in “Narrator”. The instrumental is super groovy though, so I definitely think this could grow on me more over time. The chorus in “Interruption” is really solid. Definitely a song I can see myself vibing to quite a bit, really enjoy it. Kind of gives me Ariana vibes at times?

- I don’t know if I could quite get into Greg’s voice in “A Pair Of Questions”, though I really like the vibe of the song. Mysterious, yet has a nice jam to it which is enjoyable. I think with more listens this could click with me fully tbh. “O.M.G.” has a solid pop punk vibe to it that I can get behind, had me jamming the whole time.

- Holly’s got a really nice voice, definitely shown in “Fake Plastic Trees”. Not too crazy on the fluctuation between singing and whispering, but a pretty nice cover overall. “Frustrated” is fine. Unlike with “Trees”, I kind of wish there was a bit *more* fluctuation here, as it kind of felt like a bit stagnant for me. Not entirely crazy about either of these songs unfortunately, though I’ll give it to the #1 seed here.

Look, I love the Pumpkins and I love synthpop, but the Pumpkins are about the last band I expected to go on that route. The end result is fine as the track is well-produced, but Billy's voice over a dancey synthpop beat just sounds... strange to me? It's not bad at all, but for the time being I'm a little confused as to how I should feel about it.
I like the spacey feel on "Knives", but I was hoping for the song to go that extra mile in terms of being a little psychedelic and dreamy. The end result is a little too much on the safe, indie pop side. Too bad, because I feel like the song had the potential to be something greater. I think it's, again, the vocals that turned me off a bit.
Tough call, but I'll go for the Pumpkins...

I liked "The Great Divide" a lot more than I expected to. I probably have to credit Billy Strings more than Luke Combs for that, since the guitar work was excellent, while the vocals were pretty run of the mill, though not bad. Not much else to say on "Red Line Delay", it was fine but didn't do much for me. The female vocals felt a bit out of place on it for me, but some of the other rappers were pretty good.

The instrumentation on "Gravity" was super tight, though I think I preferred the vocals on "Dead Man Walking". Would've liked a longer Tyler part on it too, but overall still very enjoyable. By now, it's probably not a secret that I'm definitely not as much a Taylor Swift fan as the majority of this forum is. Definitely appreciated the mellow instrumental on "peace", though the vocals were just standard Swift fare for me.

I mean, "Narrator" was one of my extras (and it was only a mere extra for me because I figured it'd be picked anyways, might have been my #2 or #3 otherwise). Squid are one of my favorites out of the current post-punk scene and this song's a perfect example why, Ollie absolutely sells the unhinged tone of his lyrics, the groove when the song picks up is massive, and Martha's howling is such a great climax. "Interruption" is decent enough R&B but nothing I haven't heard before

Up to now I had only heard "Fire for Water" from Greg's newest album, and this is...definitely not what I was expecting based on that, but I like it quite a bit, kinda sounds like a more stripped back version of his Black Queen stuff. I did dig "O.M.G." a little more than your average pop punk though, probably due to some of the dynamics present in the production.

Holly's voice is nice, and I do love the original "Fake Plastic Trees", but she brings absolutely nothing new to the table with her cover. Frustrated's instrumental is nice, but as others have already expressed the lyrics definitely drag it down a bit. Again, close matchup, but...after writing these out, I'm actually going to flip my vote from my initial vote for "Frustrated" considering that the FPT cover doesn't really have any particularly glaring flaws.

I've heard good things about Cassandra but hadn't given anything by her a listen until now - great first impression here, I'm tempted to throw out a Laurie Anderson comparison given her use of spoken word but the instrumental here is far smoother (...is that even the right word) than anything Laurie would probably come up with. "Pressure" far exceeded my expectations though, I like how oddly restrained it feels.
