Last Night is solid. Wild Thing (Remix) is also solid until the feature comes.
Tenille Arts - “Somebody Like That” (bboat11, #3) vs. Bebe Rexha - “Sacrifice” (Fire, #4)
At least Tenille Arts' vocals are not cringe. It's a bit predictable move for Bebe Rexha to try Euro House but the intention to copy Lady Gaga's arc is a bit too obvious with the delivery of final part of song.
Snoh Aalegra - “Whoa” (Cynthia, #3) vs. Kelsea Ballerini f/ Kenny Chesney - “Half Of My Hometown” (indulge, #4)
Whoa is again a very solid song but I don't have anything else to comment. Half of My Hometown is not among the best songs I have heard about that topic, and I don't think Kenny Chesney adds much to this song aside from being country radio favorite and that somewhat gimmicky tidbit.

Of course my song has to follow Half Of My Hometown for the most twisted experience. Also definitely don't think this is ordinary indie rock because I haven't had such fun listening experience since Parquet Courts' Wide Awake! And I have to face the strongest #4 song in this set. Absolutely like the use of sample and lyrics of Circles. One of Megan Thee Stallion's best.

- Both of these are pretty solid. I like the production on "Wild Thing". Jasmine's vocals aren't that great, but I think Daveed is good on here. Meanwhile, "Last Night" is kind of a jam. Nothing amazing by any means, but I'll take it for what it is.
Tenille Arts - “Somebody Like That” (bboat11, #3) vs. Bebe Rexha - “Sacrifice” (Fire, #4)
- I remember "Somebody Like That" because it appeared in my Spotify Discover Weekly playlist a few months ago. I enjoyed it then and I still enjoy it now. She has a really good voice. "Sacrifice" is okay, but I've kind of grown out of Bebe Rexha overall. I don't like her now as much as I used to.

- "Whoa" is pretty interesting. I really like the beat and the vibe. "Half Of My Hometown" is really pleasant as well and I like how both artists sound together on the chorus. Tough call, but I think I slightly preferred "Whoa".

- You can just take my comments on the last Megan Thee Stallion song and put them here as well. Granted, this song is not as bad as "Body", but it's not my cup of tea. "Andy Go To School" is cool though. I really like the instrumental on here.

- "Girlfriend" is better than I thought it would be. The vocals aren't awful. But it still feels incredibly generic and it fails to grab my interest. I love the bassline on "Free". The beat is cool and the vocals are interesting as well. Probably my favorite discovery so far in this set.

- I like both of these a fair bit. The energy of "Buzzcut" is kind of cool and the flow is good. It feels like something I wouldn't normally like haha, but I enjoyed it. "Real Groove" is fun as well and I enjoyed Kylie Minogue's album as a whole. There is some filler in there, but this one is a standout. I think Kylie is the Pulse favorite, so I'll go for Brockhampton here!
HAIM - “3 AM” (gotportugal, #3) vs. Lauren Alaina f/Jon Pardi - “Getting Over Him” (Bigfan101, #4)
- Oooh we got a tough one here! I went into this one assuming that HAIM would easily get my vote, but Lauren Alaina put up one hell of a fight. I love the guitars on "Getting Over Him" as well as the attitude that the song gives off. Both Lauren Alaina and Jon Pardi sound great on it, so this was hard! HAIM still pulled through, but it was closer than I thought it would be.

^ it's just a shortened way of saying "what", meant to indicate confusion well, it's not exactly pronounced the same...example: shat & sat, or that & tat...i thought the word "what" was meant to indicate confusion, so i'm even more confused as to how "wat" is any different <shrug> for real what's the point of correcting every single word spelling or slang on the internet like I really doubt woods doesn't know how to spell "what" out of all words lol |
