Up was discounted last week which helped push it to #1. Week 6 vs Week 1 though 🥴 Scooter bypassed the usual $.99 discounted price point and went straight to the max. UP never had a normal price on itunes..the normal price on itunes is 1.29$ ..UP was at 0.99$ since the release and after the grammy performance had an updated discount at 0.69$ !!

I'm just surprised at how weak Justin is on YouTube US. Peaches has over 28M views on YouTube right now but not even 5M of those views are from the US. He also isn't strong on Pandora/Amazon Music so really >85% of Peaches streams this week will be from Spotify/Apple Music. It'll be lucky to pull 35M streams this week. If he did better on other platforms, he could have easily pulled 40-50M streams and the race wouldn't be close at all. Putting YouTube being way more relevent wordwide compared to the US. Edit: Even though Spotify beats YT Globally since last year.
Spotify only, if we count only days when a song from Justin Bieber charted on both US top 200 & Global top 200. This is so we can see how he fares Us vs WW.
He gets 2,535,754,473 Global & 625,889,850 US streams with this method. Or only 24.7% of streams when the song charts on both charts are from the US.
When we look at YouTube in the last 12 months JB has had 3.99B views Globally & 747M in the US. (the numbers include UGC ofc). But main thing is 18.7% are from the US.
I looked it a while back and the countries where "Yummy" perfored the best are all from Asia. Based on how many weeks it spent in top 200 on the Country chart. highest were (over 30 weeks): India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Phillipines, Singapore. It spent 16 weeks in the top 200 on Spotify US for refference.

UP was originally $1.29 and was then discounted to $.99 and further down to $.69 eventually. If we want to get into specifics UP was released on 2/5 at full price and received it's first discount on 3/12.

i find it weird taylor and her team seem to be releasing things not on friday recently. a play for longevity? or just not caring anymore? I can’t remember a time recently where she hasn’t released on a Friday... other than like maybe her bonus tracks?

Did you all know Pandora streaming data is available through Next Big Sound? "What's Next" has 14 million total streams there, so it isn't a huge platform for it. It must cater to older music. This past week "driver's license" only had 1.3 million streams, but Mariah's "We Belong Together" from 2005 had 943,000 streams across the same period. "Blinding Lights" had 3 million streams, so it is doing better than a lot of new songs there.

"LTDO" has 1.8 million streams for last Tuesday through Monday, but I don't know for this chart week specifically. Cardi B "Up" has 2.36 million streams for last Tuesday through Monday.

I know some of you probably despise this song but I think this should be a hit I'm not an MGK fan, and the couple of CORPSE songs I've heard, he's not really my cup of tea but I'm weirdly into this? (And IDK what the issues with the mix are, could ya'll elaborate?) My favourite part of the video is Valkyrae being CORPSE's stand-in since he doesn't want to be on camera.

The mix isn’t that bad, it’s just whenever Corpse Husband raps it sounds grating to the ears because there is so much white nose

Leave the Door Open is not that catchy at all. I’d also just like to hear just him by himself not with other non mainstream artists

The most fun about music is getting to know different artists and songs you probably wouldn’t give a chance if you read their names on the Top40 radio playlist.

In what world do we live in now where if a song doesn’t hit #1 by the 3rd week that we call it wraps? Seriously I’m glad some songs still take time to build to hit #1.

2021 seems so different than 2020 for music (except for Blinding Lights in the top 10), 2020 had more synth pop and disco while 2021 is gearing more towards being an R&B year.

I remember being doubted when I said Justin is going to contest for number 1, next week we’ll see if Lil Nas X can pull through as well.

Rod Wave releases his third album on Friday. It should debut at #1 and songs off the album should dominate Apple Music.

He is a star but not a superstar yet. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it organically hits number 1 in a couple weeks, but I doubt it will debut there. Can’t wait for his montero album though. 24k Goldn also dropping his El Dorado album tomorrow night, i wonder if he will have any hits outside of Mood come from that album.

Actually you know what, I take back what I said. Lil Tjay a rapper who never went top 10 as the lead artist debuted at number 3 due to tiktok. And Call Me By Your Name snippet is bigger than Calling My Phone. So I’m expecting at least a top 2 debut for Lil Nas X.
