I mean, average "positions" song had 16,14mil streams first week vs Justice's 15,75mil (14 vs 16 tracks). also, the day before the album release, Bieber had 4 songs with at least 1mil streams WW.

But, "Justice" is definitely a success for him, after the snoozefest that is "Changes".

it took me several tries to understand wtf they are, honestly. It’s not you being dumb and old - the people selling NFTs now probably spent the last few weeks trying to understand what they’d be selling. Same w the writers talking about them,

NFT stands for “non-fungible token”, meaning that that the item can’t be exchanged for something of equal worth like other currency. What is an NFT, exactly? Anything can be an NFT, from digital art to songs to videos to other files (the Twitter CEO sold his first tweet as an NFT). Consumers then bid for ownership of these items. The allure behind them is their exclusivity - anyone can download the digital art piece or mp3 that you bid for, but only the highest bidder will own the original piece. What’s the difference between a download and the original, you ask? Bragging rights. Whether or not you even legally own the file is debatable (you win a token that says you own it) but that’s another thing.

The sale of NFTs creates a concerning amount of waste. This is where my understanding wanes, but I’ll try. NFTs are sold using blockchain (which logs transactions w cryptocurrency) on Ethereum, the host site. Mining cryptocurrency (don’t know how tf that works) uses a tonnn of energy, as you can’t just clone it. Every sale of NFTs produces ~50 kg of CO2, and every bid ~20 kg. Here’s a quote from The Hill:

Ethereum mining consumes about 26.5 terawatt-hours of electricity a year. To put that into perspective - that is nearly as much energy used annually by the entire country of Ireland.

I think the part that loses me is having the “original” file of something. If it’s digital, why does it matter if it’s a copy. I don’t understand how something digital can have such status. It makes sense if it’s an authentic original painting, vinyl or film reel, but digital doesn’t and the elitism attached kind of stinks a bit too.

you don’t even get anything physical. It’s a digital token. Some of them are selling for insane prices, considering that you don’t really win anything.

The music videos for Peaches and Tombstone debuted at #2 and #3 respectively in the weekly US chart behind the one for Back in Blood. Although if you combine the views for the music video and Grammy performance for Leave the Door Open, it would have been at #3.

If it takes a while before LTDO sneaks in a week at #1, it would more follow the run of Psycho (this was really the only song to debut in the Top 4 and take a long time for it to reach #1). TWIL was a low debut climber. Ironically, both Psycho and TWIL posted their only week at #1 in their 15th charting week. LTDO's 15th charting week is 7/3/2021, and I just don't see it peaking in late June/early July without it spending several weeks at #1 both before and after it. I mean, the charts are so much weaker today than when Psycho waited behind God's Plan and Nice For What to hit #1 in 2018.
