Speaking of The Road Less Traveled, it is now the second album (following Twang) to be down to just one song left, as the title track is now all that remains!
"Don't Tell Me You're Not In Love" has always been one that I have enjoyed. It doesn't quite reach the epic heights of some of the all-time career bests, but I have always felt like it would have made for a great single that wouldn't have been nearly as polarizing as something like "Stars on the Water" might have been if they had gone for a 4th single.

"Why Can't I Leave Her Alone" is a JAM!!!!! And taylor is once again the one dragging an It Just Comes Natural track down.... Although this time it was a consistent top 10 contender... (Seriously, have you listened to this album?! This is getting damn ridiculous.) One of the things I love about George is that he can make himself an unsympathetic narrator and STILL create jams!!!! Look at songs like "All My Ex's Live In Texas", or "I Can Still Make Cheyenne", or "Hollywood Squares", or even "Give It Away". This is yet another song where he makes a total ass of himself, and that edginess ironically gives it a lot of charm, lol. Also the rocking edge to the instrumentation and melody makes this an immediately recognizable standout. There really is nothing else quite like it in his entire 400+ song career.

"Why Can't I Leave Her Alone" is such a memorable album track and it's a shame that it got pushed back so far in the end. This is one of those songs that I have crank up and jam out to whenever I revisit it!

You know, I am also really shocked that Somewhere Down In Texas is performing so much better than It Just Comes Natural in this top 20... To me most of the songs from this album are merely fine, whereas It Just Comes Natural has multiple career-defining missed hit opportunities....

I'd only put it maybe *just* above The Road Less Traveled among the records from this decade that we ranked. Not a big fan of it. Poor Twang was done exceptionally dirty. Your distaste for The Road Less Traveled is soooooo odd to me, lol. It's easily my second favorite album of this decade, right after It Just Comes Natural. And "Run", "She'll Leave You With A Smile", and "Living And Living Well" is easily his most consistent string of hits of the entire decade. Those songs are all great, but they share space with songs like the title track and "The Middle of Nowhere" which are some of the most perfect examples of 'filler' on any album he's ever made. I couldn't remember how they went right after they ended while doing this RD and had to keep relistening to them just to recall how they sounded. They at least picked the singles correctly.

Despite my own ranking, I'm happy to see "By The Light Of A Burning Bridge" do so well. It's the kind of song that I can put on whenever I need a little pick-me-up to help put me in a better mood.

"Stars On The Water" bows out next as our next, as our second most polarizing song! The autotune is undoubtedly the biggest reason behind this song being as polarizing as it is. This song got two last place ranks from castleoblivion26 and kw9461 , and I would be willing to bet that the autotune is a huge reason as to why.Personally, I find this song to be a major jam!!!! The instrumental in the beginning gets me perched every time with its layered entry gradually getting more and more complex. This song is also a major jam live, which proves that the autotune wasn't at all necessary for the enjoyment of the song.... But I don't really mind it! To me it gives the song a lot of character, especially because it is being used as a blatant and fun artistic choice rather than something that is needed to make the vocals not suck, lol. The autotune is absolutely the reason I cannot stand this song. I think I would absolutely love this song if it didn't have any autotune.

at that trajectory graph for "House With No Doors". This one has always had a really memorable theme, and it was one of my favorite album tracks when this album came out! However, as time has passed the theme has become more and more ludicrous, to the point where I struggle to take this song seriously now. That being said, I do enjoy how low George goes in the first chorus! Show off, King!!

"House With No Doors" is a cleverly written song and one that yet again only someone like George could pull off well. This just isn't a song I revisit much as I think I find the versus to be a bit long-winded and because of that it ended up down in my bottom 5.

One of the best songs of his career. Brilliant song lyrically and the melody is really enjoyable. I debated between 3 or 4 songs for my #1 here, but ultimately it came to this one.

Lol and people had this one pegged as a winner. I mean, it has long been considered to be one of the biggest missed opportunities of his career (Like, how did something like "Tell Me Something Bad About Tulsa" get released over this? Lmao it's comical). It definitely deserved to at least be in the conversation about potential winners! But yeah, it is almost comical just how far it ended up being from a winner 😂

This. Makes. No. Sense. The one song that is often looked at as the biggest miss of George's career doesn't even make the top ten in an album tracks rankdown. Shameful!
