^Bad Guy did have a vertical video and cassette to help it that week. Still, assuming those didn't happen Señorita might have been #1 instead since it was #2 that week and OTR #3.

Yes, maybe its true. Im still learning about points and charts, but I remember that (almost) nobody in their predictions put Bad Guy number one in that week, and everyone say that they discounted or cassettes (something i dont remember exactly what) so late (like 2 days before the tracking week) and then PUM Bad Guy was number one. But yes Old Town Road was falling. That was one my favorites weeks ever.

I was planning to post something regarding the DMX news, but I've seen no formal news sources report on it and/or a statement from his family as of yet. I'm still considering the news unconfirmed until that happens.
UPDATE: He is still alive and on life support. Let's continue to keep him in our prayers.

R.I.P. to the OG ruff ryder. This guy played a huge role in getting me into rap when I was younger so R.I.P. to him and may his family get the strength they need in this time.

Old Town Road was so big, sometimes it makes me forget just how huge a sleeper hit No Guidance was during the summer of 2019. Had there been no Old Town Road, I believe that No Guidance would have probably been another Drake #1 debut. Moreover, No Guidance had more longevity than most other Drake songs, as it remained a factor on the charts long after the summer of 2019.

Speaking of TikTok, one thing that's clearly different from 2020 is that it doesn't have as much of an influence on what's popular as it did last year which is a good and bad thing.

The pop callout sample loves songs with "best friend" in the title!
Also every year there's a song I put all my hope into becoming a hit only to be inevitably disappointed. Probably gonna be "Shy Away" this year.

Pulse's ambivalence towards X's death incoming ...
Yes he was homophobic and in many ways an embodiment of toxic hyper-masculinity (i mean look no further than the lyrics and imagery in "Where the Hood At?"), but a lot of that vicious bigotry is a socio-cultural symptom of urban poverty and structural racism. Definitely not excusing it by any means, but if we have collectively moved past the "missteps" from someone who should've known better like Post Malone, than we should be able to forgive X at least during his mourning period.

I was hoping he would pull through. Damn. Goes without saying that he’s a legend. Lol we could’ve saved that DMX comment about homophobia and forgiving him for when a pulse user actually criticized him.

Again, drivers license has really good callouts but radio seems to be done with that song. It's hard to tell how much callouts matter. R eally I think it's mostly because they have a new Olivia song to give spins to.Also sidenote I'm surprised Monsters is still in the callouts lol. For sure callouts aren't definitive and don't always directly translate to how much airplay a song receives. Regarding drivers license though, it was already starting to decline a bit before Deja Vu was released. It could be that, like many songs that have high audience peaks, it's just falling back down now to "normal" levels, and the decreases should lessen as time goes on.

Bad callouts matter and they will kill a song on radio like 90% of the time.
Good callouts though I haven't seen do much for most songs. And in terms of a song that already peaked like "drivers license", it doesn't really do anything except maybe slow down the descent.

Not another legend leaving us. :( Make it stop! Also, does "MONTERO" have a bigger lead in US Spotify plays over "Peaches" this week than it did last week? I remember seeing that last week was really close, something like only a couple hundred thousand streams of a difference, whereas this week it is nearly three million. Looks like 4/24 is the golden opportunity for "Leave the Door Open". Fingers crossed!

I am more confident today that the physical sales/CDs will give LTDO the advantage for #1 on the 4/17 chart, and make it 6 #1’s in 6 weeks. I get the feel that it’s run at #1 will closely mirror that of DaBaby’s Rockstar from last summer.

R&B Hip Hop chart DMX's Biggest Billboard Hits By Trevor Anderson 4/9/2021 Click to copy www.billboard.com/articles/columns/hip-hop/9554469/dmx-biggest-billboard-hits/
As one of the key forces behind hip-hop’s Ruff Ryders imprint and brand, DXM scored his biggest successes in the late 1990s and early 2000s as rap music exploded to new heights in commercial popularity. In that era, which saw the rise of acts such as Jay-Z and Eminem as hitmaking forces, DMX carved out a major piece of chart history for himself: His first five albums -- It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot (1998), Flesh of My Flesh Blood of My Blood (1999), …And Then There Was X (2000), The Great Depression (2001) and Grand Champ (2003) -- all debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, making him the first artist to see his first five efforts all begin directly in the top slot. Five more albums followed, including the most recent, a greatest-hits compilation, The Best of DMX, in 2016. DMX Remembered By Chance The Rapper, Missy Elliott, Questlove & More: 'Rest in Heaven' On the song front, DMX posted 31 tracks to the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart between 1998 and 2008. His roster began with a featured turn on Mic Geronimo’s “Nothin’ Move but The Money,” which debuted at No. 46 in February 1998 and became the first of his 17 top 40 hits there. That run included two top 10 smashes – and his two most successful singles – a supporting spot on The Lox’s “Money, Power & Respect” and his classic cut, “Party Up (Up in Here).” As fans remember the late rapper and his legacy, here’s a countdown of DMX’s biggest hits on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart: 15. “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” Peak Position: No. 33 Peak Date: Dec. 26, 1998 14. “Tear It Up,” Yung Wun featuring DMX, Lil Flip & David Banner Peak Position: No. 39 Peak Date: June 12, 2004 13. “Come Back in One Piece,” Aaliyah featuring DMX Peak Position: No. 36 Peak Date: July 8, 2000 12. “Do You,” Funkmaster Flex featuring DMX Peak Position: No. 34 Peak Date: Dec. 9, 2000 11. “Where the Hood At?” Peak Position: No. 24 Peak Date: Sept. 27, 2003 10. “X Gon’ Give It to Ya” Peak Position: No. 23 Peak Date: March 5, 2016 9. “Money, Cash, Hoes,” Jay-Z featuring DMX Peak Position: No. 36 Peak Date: Jan. 2, 1999 8. “What’s My Name” Peak Position: No. 23 Peak Date: Jan. 29, 2000 7. “4, 3, 2, 1” LL Cool J featuring Method Man, Redman, DMX, Canibus & Master P Peak Position: No. 24 Peak Date: Jan. 24, 1998 6. “Who We Be” Peak Position: No. 16 Peak Date: Nov. 17, 2001 5. “How It’s Goin’ Down,” featuring Faith Evans Peak Position: No. 19 Peak Date: Oct. 10, 1998 4. “Get at Me Dog,” featuring Sheek of The Lox Peak Position: No. 19 Peak Date: March 14, 1998 3. “What You Want,” featuring Sisqo Peak Position: No. 11 Peak Date: Sept. 30, 2000 2. “Money, Power & Respect,” The Lox featuring DMX & Lil’ Kim Peak Position: No. 8 Peak Date: April 25, 1998 1. “Party Up (Up in Here)” Peak Position: No. 8 Peak Date: April 15, 2000 DMX’s biggest Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs hits are based on actual performance on the weekly Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart through the April 10, 2021.
