Justin Bieber's 'Justice' Returns to No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart www.billboard.com/articles/news/9554825/justin-bieber-justice-returns-to-number-one-billboard-200
Justin Bieber’s Justice returns to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated April 17), scoring its second nonconsecutive week atop the list – and becomes his first multi-week No. 1 album since 2010. Plus, Demi Lovato lands her highest charting album since 2015, and Lil Tjay debuts in the top five.
Justice rises 2-1 on the Billboard 200 in its third week on the chart, having earned 74,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending April 8 (down 25%), according to MRC Data. Of that sum, 67,000 comprise SEA units (down 23%, equaling 89.44 million on-demand streams of the set’s songs), 6,000 comprise album sales (down 43%) and 2,000 comprise TEA units (down 38%). Justice debuted at No. 1 on the chart dated April 3, and fell to No. 2 on the April 10 chart.
As Justice notches a second week at No. 1, it marks Bieber’s first album to spend more than one week at No. 1 since 2010, when his first leader, My World 2.0, spent four nonconsecutive weeks atop the list. In total, Bieber has eight No. 1 albums, and the six No. 1 albums in between My World 2.0 and Justice all spent one week at No. 1.
Justice continues to profit from the success of its smash single “Peaches,” featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon. On the most recently published Billboard Hot 100 and Streaming Songs charts (dated April 10), the song sat at No. 2, after it debuted atop both charts the previous week (April 3).
Demi Lovato lands her highest charting album since 2015 on the Billboard 200, as her new effort Dancing With the Devil… The Art of Starting Over debuts at No. 2. It’s also her seventh consecutive top five-charting album – the entirety of her charting efforts.
Dancing bows with 74,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, 38,000 comprise album sales (making it the top-selling album of the week), 33,000 comprise SEA units (equaling 46.50 million on-demand streams of the album’s songs) and 2,000 comprise TEA units.
The album was supported by the four-episode YouTube Originals documentary Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil, which premiered on March 23. Collectively, the episodes have garnered over 30 million global views on YouTube.
The Dancing album also got a boost from the availability of a Target-exclusive CD edition of the set with two bonus tracks, a signed CD sold via Lovato’s official website, multiple CD cover variants and two digital deluxe editions of the album (each with bonus tracks). Here’s a recap of Lovato’s seven charting albums on the Billboard 200: Dancing With the Devil… (No. 2), Tell Me You Love Me (No. 3, 2017), Confident (No. 2, 2015), Demi (No. 3, 2013), Unbroken (No. 4, 2011), Here We Go Again (No. 1, 2009) and Don’t Forget (No. 2, 2008).
Rod Wave’s SoulFly falls 1-3 in its second week on the Billboard 200, earning 67,000 equivalent album units (down 48%). Morgan Wallen’s former No. 1 Dangerous: The Double Album rises 5-4 with 63,000 units (down 1%).
Lil Tjay’s Destined 2 Win is the only other debut in the top 10, as the album bows at No. 5 with 62,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, 58,000 comprise SEA units (equaling 86.14 million on-demand streams of the album’s songs), 3,000 comprise album sales and 1,000 comprise TEA units.
The album was led by the single “Calling My Phone,” featuring 6LACK, which became his first top 10 hit on the all-genre Hot 100 chart, reaching No. 3 in February. Destined 2 Win is the rapper’s second top 10 effort on the Billboard 200, and matches his high on the chart. He previously debuted and peaked at No. 5 with True 2 Myself (Oct. 26, 2019-dated chart).
The Weeknd’s The Highlights is a non-mover at No. 6 on the new Billboard 200 (43,000 equivalent album units earned; down 4%), Pop Smoke’s former No. 1 Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon is also stationary at No. 7 (37,000 units; down 2%), Carrie Underwood’s My Savior falls 4-8 in its second week (35,000 units; down 52%), Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia is a non-mover at No. 9 (34,000 units; down 3%) and Luke Combs’ former leader What You See Is What You Get rises 14-10 (28,000 units; up 2%).

Probably one of the tightest races, at least in this era. Still a great showing for Demi.

Plus: Sturgill Simpson, Shakey Graves and Godspeed You! Black Emperor hit top 10. Demi Lovato’s Dancing With the Devil… The Art of Starting Over debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart (dated April 17). The set was released on April 2 via Island/Republic and sold 38,000 copies in the U.S. in the week ending April 8, according to MRC Data. Dancing is Lovato’s second No. 1 on Top Album Sales, and seventh consecutive top five-charting effort – the entirety of her charting albums. She previously topped the tally in 2009 with Here We Go Again. Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based only on traditional album sales. The chart’s history dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Billboard began tabulating charts with electronically monitored piece count information from SoundScan, now MRC Data. Pure album sales were the measurement solely utilized by the Billboard 200 albums chart through the list dated Dec. 6, 2014, after which that chart switched to a methodology that blends album sales with track equivalent album units and streaming equivalent album units. For all chart news, follow billboard and billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram. Of Dancing’s debut sales of 38,000, physical album sales comprise 25,000 of that figure (all in CD sales) while digital album sales comprise 13,000. Sales of Dancing got help from the availability of a Target-exclusive CD edition of the set with two bonus tracks, a signed CD sold via Lovato’s official website, multiple CD cover variants and a deluxe edition with bonus tracks available through digital retailers.
Carrie Underwood’s My Savior falls 1-2 in its second week on Top Album Sales, selling 31,000 copies (down 55%). After two weeks on sale, My Savior is the fifth-biggest selling album of 2021, with 99,000 copies sold through April 8. The year’s top-seller is Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album, with 215,000 copies sold.
Sturgill Simpson’s Cuttin’ Grass, Vol. 2: The Cowboy Arms Sessions re-enters Top Album Sales at No. 3 with 18,000 copies sold (up 14,758%), following the album’s release on CD and vinyl on April 2. Cuttin’ Grass, Vol. 2 is Simpson’s second album of bluegrass covers of his own material, following 2020’s Cuttin’ Grass, Vol. 1: The Butcher Shoppe Sessions. The new album was initially released on digital retail and streaming services last year and previously spent one week on the tally, debuting and peaking at No. 48 on the Dec. 26, 2020-dated chart from download sales only (6,000 sold in its first week).
Of Cuttin’ Grass, Vol. 2’s nearly 18,000 sold in the latest tracking frame, a little over 14,000 comprise vinyl LPs, 3,000 comprise CDs and less than 1,000 comprise digital albums. Its sturdy vinyl sales figure lands the album at No. 1 on the Vinyl Albums chart. The set also enters at No. 1 on Tastemaker Albums, which ranks the top-selling albums of the week at independent and small chain record stores. Cuttin’ Grass, Vol. 2 sold nearly 10,000 copies through those retailers across all formats.
Shakey Graves’ Roll the Bones X debuts at No. 4 on Top Album Sales with 7,000 copies sold, securing the singer his first top 10 effort. The set is a reissue of the singer’s 2011 album Roll the Bones (which did not chart), bolstered with 15 previously unreleased recordings.
A trio of former No. 1s are next up on the list, as Harry Styles’ Fine Line rises 14-5 with 7,000 sold (up 35% after a boost in vinyl LP sales), Lana Del Rey’s Chemtrails Over the Country Club climbs 7-6 with 6,500 (down 29%) and Billie Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go? pushes 9-7 with just over 6,000 (up less than 1%).
Godspeed You! Black Emperor scores its first top 10 on Top Album Sales, as the act’s latest studio effort, G_d’s Pee at State’s End! bows at No. 8 with 6,000 copies sold. The album was strongly supported by vinyl LP sales, with 3,500 copies sold via the format.
Rounding out the latest top 10 on Top Album Sales is Bob Marley and The Wailers’ Legend: The Best Of… (19-9 with nearly 6,000 sold; up 26% thanks to a surge in vinyl sales) and Justin Bieber’s Justice (5-10 with 5,500 sold; down 43%).

A little random... but how about some All-Time Billboard 200 projections. Ahead of Taylor's #1 debut next week... All-Time Billboard 200 Artists (& position change since 2015 update): 1 (=) | The Beatles | 18,899,556 | 2 (=) | The Rolling Stones | 14,312,761 | 3 (=) | Barbra Streisand | 13,014,731 | 4 (+4) | Taylor Swift | 12,335,160 | 5 (=) | Elton John | 11,006,729 | 6 (-1) | Garth Brooks | 10,924,542 | 7 (-1) | Mariah Carey | 9,536,113 | 8 (-1) | Herb Alpert | 8,918,633 | 9 (+5) | Eminem | 8,722,219 | 10 (-1) | Chicago | 8,567,499 | 11 (-1) | Michael Jackson | 8,523,956 | 12 (NEW) | Drake | 8,420,508 |
And here are Justin Bieber's top albums on Billboard 200: My World 2.0 | 1,433,263 | Purpose | 946,310 | My World (EP) | 668,242 | Believe | 637,806 | Under The Mistletoe | 329,750 | Never Say Never: The Remixes (EP) | 314,986 | Changes | 292,910 | Believe: Acoustic | 158,215 | My Worlds Acoustic | 154,261 | Justice | 152,000 |
Total: 5,030,747 "Believe" sold 1.6 million. "Under The Mistletoe" sold over 1.5 million "Never Say Never" sold over 500 thousand. "My World" sold over a million. Those are just four that I know of that are off. Unless some of these are 1st week totals? The "My World" "Acoustic" album debuted w/115 thousand copies at num.7. It could have dropped off that much for the rest of it's "run" but I can't imagine that much.

@ihype., at Taylor’s current rate, how long would it take for her to surpass Barbara for the #3 spot? Probably 6 months or so. "Believe" sold 1.6 million. Not based on sales/units, but a point system for the all-time Billboard charts.

@ihype., at Taylor’s current rate, how long would it take for her to surpass Barbara for the #3 spot? Probably 6 months or so. "Believe" sold 1.6 million. Not based on sales/units, but a point system for the all-time Billboard charts. Oh!! LOL!! I thought I was seeing things at first and your not usually off with stuff. My bad. lol

Crazy to me that After Hours isn't charting again. Without the streams of four of its songs, it doesn't have enough units to even make the top 200. Wow.
Just shows how reliant the album was/is on its singles (two of which are currently in the top ten). I wonder if the album would've bombed had it not had blinding lights on it.

Isn’t that because of The Highlights? Can someone explain this situation to me?

They will get the streaming credit for the songs that are on both. So "Highlights" must have actually sold more units than "Afterhours" this week so it got the streaming credit of the songs that appeared on both albums. (I hope I'm correct)... If not sorry.
