54. Wilson Pickett - "Soulsville USA (634-5789)" Put this one in my #61 slot. Very enjoyable. Kinda felt like a tamer Chuck Berry.
53. The Temptations - "Beauty Is Only Skin Deep" Wow I hit this one on the nail. Perfect slot for the song. I love this uptempo Motown style. They have better songs, but this one is a keeper.
52. The Association - "Cherish" I personally don't like songs that sound like early X-mas songs. That xylophone isn't one of my favorite instrumants. This song failed to swim out of my bottom 30.
51. Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels - "Devil With the Blue Dress On/ Good Golly Miss Molly" This defiitely made my top 50. gave it a #34. It's considered the "Rebel Rock" of those times. Hard rock bands sometimes play covers of this jam as a bonus in thier concerts. bands like Mötley Crüe, Ratt, but it can also be coverred by heartland greats like John Mellencamp and Bruce Springsteen. That makes for a classic rock song.
50. The Cyrkle - "Red Rubber Ball" This was alright. Misses my top half at #59. I hear some Beatles in the flutes/Circus organs (not sure what it is) and guitar arrangements.
49. Cher - Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" I gave this a high #23. Why the hell is this low top half? This is straight out music made for Quentin Tarrantino movie soundtracks. Cool video. Looks like a Tarrantino short.
48. The Turtles - "You Baby" Another example of a collective perfect rank. Poppy, catchy and all around good sing a long fun. gave it a #47. Close enough.
47. Neil Diamond - "Cherry, Cherry" I'm not a Neil Diamond fan. His vocals don't do it for me. I gave this a #60. Probably the most rock he has sounded for me. I also happen to love songs where girls are like sweet Cherry's, Cherry Pie's etc... Give this to Paul Revere and The Raiders and I would give it top 10.
46. The Outsiders - "Time Won’t Let Me" Another easy top 30 for me. Love the trumpets.
45. The Capitols - "Cool Jerk" Didn't recall there was an original version of this. I remember the Go-Go's version well. This is a bop. Straight out Beach music

I do also want to note that several users still have their whole top 20 intact (as of reveals 100-45). These folks are singingrulebritannia , rowellfarm490 , Red , and BB🌕 . emerald just lost his first one with "Cool Jerk", leaving only 4. Others also have their whole top 10 left: including annoymous1 , emerald , alexcuse , samo🦕 , gonecountry, and Butterflies & Hurricanes . One user, DJDaveMick69 , only has 3 top 10 rankings left - the only one to have lost their #1 pick, and the only to have their #100 remaining. I plan to reveal up to #26, but I don't have the best track record at this - so idk. Edit: I just realized that gonecountry lost a bottom 20 at #47 with "Cherry Cherry" and forgot to mark it. There are 4 left.

Time for some extras! The rankdown equivalent of the veggie dip at a Super Bowl party that a few guests find great but are often ignored. Sadly, I've already gotten to many of the best of charting songs that failed to make the chart, but there are still others.
EXTRA The Four Seasons "I've Got You Under My Skin"
A classic song that was covered earlier by Frank Sinatra and I think Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby too. This version went to #9 on the charts in 1966 and only spent 11 weeks.
EXTRA Hermans Hermits "Listen People"
I think this one took part of its chorus from Dean Martin's "Everybody Wants Somebody" from two years prior. I didn't really like this one much, but it actually peaked at #3, one of four songs to peak this high and not make the Year End. It only spent 8 weeks on the chart.
EXTRA The Rolling Stones "Under My Thumb"
This one never charted, but it's a notable song from the Stones. It was on the same album as "19th Nervous Breakdown". Their best charting extra will be my final extra, so I'm Leaving that for later.
EXTRA Norma Tanega "You're Dead" Loved Her voice. She's a cute folk girl! She had another song this year that hit the charts, peaking at #22, but this only peaked at 73.
EXTRA Neil Diamond "Solitary Man"
Johnny Cash covered this later on. It was a good cover of a good song. Sadly this only peaked at 55 in 1966 but was re-released in 1970, peaking at 21 then, and barely missing its Year End.

This was a really well done pop song, especially with the harmonies. I definitely prefer this over their song from 1968 that made that Year End. One of several Drew Carey themes. Even the "hey"s work to help the melody.

Hint: Well, okay. It's nice and beautiful outside, so what should you wear?

An Australian group called The Sports did a fairly rocking remake of this in 81 that went to #22 on the Australian charts. It was from their EP of Dylan and Donovan covers. The group had previously hit #45 on the US charts in 79 with "Who Listens to the Radio". Little useless trivia for you Donovan fans..

I like making sure to put the actual videos in the preview, but the unfortunate thing is so many of these have thumbnails that aren't that good.

I like the Yardbirds. Their best one was "Heart Full of Soul", which we will get to if we ever make a 1965 rankdown. I did find the chugging in the verses interesting, the vocals were very psychedelic sounding (in a good way), and the guitar solo was a killer. In a way has a medieval feel to it. I liked the guitar "chill" sound too. Both Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton were in this group.

39. Johnny Rivers - "Secret Agent Man" Even tho I always hear "secret Asian man" instead I think this one rocks properly. Nice way to disguise that classic "007" theme in the song.

This is Monday. Monday has died. There are now 6 days in a week. It's now called Yadnom, an extension of Sunday we forget about.

The thing I like here is that you get to hear the harmonies front and center. It's more of their typical song, whereas "California Dreamin" is more rock-centered than most of their music (which is easily my favorite too - I cant deny)
