Hey y'all; sorry for the delay in getting reveals for this (and Shania) started. I've just...not been feeling good at all this week, and not in a physical way. I don't know what it is that's making me feel like this, but whatever it is I'm gonna forget about it for a minute so that I can get these reveals done and over with. If anyone's around, feel free to watch!

To literally nobody's surprise, the instrumental opening track to My Savior, "Jesus Loves Me," bows out first. Only three of us had this in our Top 10, and seven of us had it as our last place song.
I don't dislike this track at all!!!!! I find it to be quite calming and soothing, and it makes for a great album opener and perfect segue into "Nothing But the Blood of Jesus," but on an album with 12 other songs containing Carrie's incredible vocals, I couldn't find any other place for this one but at the very bottom. That, and I had hoped before the tracklist reveal that she'd actually sing it.

Truthfully, I loved this instrumental a lot. It has a very relaxing vibe to it, and it also ties in flawlessly as an intro to "Nothin' But The Blood" which comes right after it! I'm not a fan of people automatically putting an instrumental in last place. However, at the end of the day this one is both an instrumental AND basically just a one-minute sample, lol... It's impossible for it to stand equally alongside the other fully-realized songs on the album. Edit: it looks like I'm the one plagiarizing taylor for once instead of the other way around! We were typing at the same time, I swear!

I loved this too, honestly. I genuinely liked a few of the actual sung hymnals less than this. The instrumentation was gorgeous and it was a nice opening track for the record imo. Not even remotely surprised at it being last though.

Truthfully, I was thinking while typing up my opinion about the song that perhaps somewhere down the line, there should be a rankdown of instrumentals from country albums, if there are enough of them out there! I'm sure this one could perhaps do a bit better in a list like that

"Blessed Assurance" is another song on this album that is quite relaxing and calming, and I love it!!! (Of course I still love it; this is a Carrie Underwood album after all, lol!) But I also don't find myself revisiting this one too often, hence why I placed it at the bottom of my list, along with four other people who correctly pegged this song at #12.

Just as I am, though tossed about With many a conflict, many a doubt Fighting and fears within, without O Lamb of God, I come, I come
Ooh ooh, just as I am Ooh ooh, I come Ooh ooh, just as I am Oh Lamb of God I come
Just as I am, Thou wilt receive Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve Because Thy promise I believe

Oh good, this was lowkey... not good.
ETA: That was for "Blessed Assurance" but I was #late
"Just As I Am" was just alright, nothing special.

Y'all..."Just As I Am" deserved much better than to be put in the bottom 3!!! It's just so beautiful, from the lush production to the gorgeous vocals. This one has been making me cry lately, lol. I love this one so much; I was sad to see so many lower rankings. </3

I literally cannot even fathom finding "Blessed Assurance" to be not worth revisiting and then putting "Just As I Am" at #2

Anyway, there were plenty of songs that could be called boring on this album, but "Blessed Assurance" was not one of them for me. I found her vocal to be really engaging! Maybe it just had some good will in my mind from being right at the beginning of the album after how much I loved "Nothin' But The Blood Of Jesus", and I would like it less if I listened to it on shuffle, but I kinda doubt it. I thought it was a masterpiece because of how stripped it was, in a similar vein to "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee" on the Christmas album

I literally cannot even fathom finding "Blessed Assurance" to be not worth revisiting and then putting "Just As I Am" at #2 Well, I also personally apply "Just As I Am" into my life as a reminder that Jesus loves me despite what the intentionally mistranslated Bible says ( I do NOT mean that as offense to anybody, but that is simply a fact) so I stand by my #2

In the old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine A wondrous beauty I see For 'twas on that old cross, Jesus suffered and died To pardon and sanctify me
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross Till my trophies at last I lay down I will cling to the old rugged cross

"The Old Rugged Cross" is SUCH a great song! I absolutely love the production and melody, and CU's delivery, particularly of the final chorus, is divine!! I LOVE a great choir as a backing vocal, and who can forget the choir we had for this song at the ACM Awards this April, when Carrie and CeCe Winans performed it as part of Carrie's My Savior medley?! It was just marvelous!

It tells of One whose loving heart Can feel my deepest woe Who in each sorrow bears a part That none can bear below
Oh, how I love Jesus Oh, how I love Jesus Oh, how I Love Jesus Because he first loved me, yeah

"O How I Love Jesus" is incredible. The piano arrangement is just haunting. I absolutely loved this song and I would've LOVED to see it do better here!

I know there's a bit more built-in name recognition for "Softly & Tenderly" and "Amazing Grace," but neither of those should still be in this thing...

Amazing grace How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me I once was lost, but now I'm found Was blind, but now I see
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear And grace my fears relieved How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed
When we've been there ten thousand years Bright shining as the sun We've no less days to sing God's praise

"Amazing Grace" is a song with a lot of meaning, but good heavens, it has been covered so many times that it's just boring at this point. Carrie's is definitely among the better for me vocally, but the arrangement doesn't help it any. At least it does work as a great closer, which I think can loop back around to the start of the album if one wanted to do that!
