Kiss Me More is the much better song and could be the defining song of 2021. Except it's not. Levitating is the much better and more interesting song. Kiss Me More is so stagnant

I still remember when Future Nostalgia dropped last year. I had declared Don't Stop Now/Future Nostalgia as my favorite single/album of 2020 and Dua's label had moved on to pushing Break My Heart as the next single. I was so mad at that decision and kept insisting that Levitating was the true successor bop to Don't Stop Now and should be the song getting pushed instead. Eventually, Dua's label saw the light and now seeing it do so well makes me happy. At this rate, it'll likely spend just as many, if not more weeks in the top 10 than Don't Start Now did and will likely end up being Dua's biggest hit in the US so far.

Seeing as how I literally started this year off with Levitating, I'm all for it going to number one!

Levitating was THE song of the Biden/Harris campaign, it'd be an honor to have it go #1ย Nah, it is the song for Man City and Pep Guardiolaโs Champions League winning season (canโt wait for this to age horribly)

J. Cole has no video and most likely will have no radio, so I think it will be at a disadvantage in that regard. That disadvantage will only worsen if the streaming slips over the course of the week.

It's lowkey insane that Cole's never had a number one, espescially with how much longevity No Role Modelz and Wet Dreamz had. Plus Middle Child's success (although that was an own goal for releasing midweek). Hopefully he can get one next week.
Imo he's the biggest artist rn without a number one.
E: added the clarification that it's rn, I know he isn't bigger than Creedence

Is it unpopular to say that none of J. Cole's songs that've been successful on the charts have ever been good?

Is it unpopular to say that none of J. Cole's songs that've been successful on the charts have ever been good? I like Power Trip, Crooked Smile, and Wet Dreamz. Everything else he's put out as singles have ranged from just OK to outright awful.

Everything else he's put out as singles have ranged from just OK to outright awful. Oh I forgot Crooked Smile was a Top 40 hit so he's has one good one. Wet Dreamz is also my favorite J. Cole single (even if it never cracked the Top 50)

Miss The Rage (Trippie Redd feat. Playboi Carti) had 2 million Spotify streams as of 11:00 AM Eastern based off Trippie's instagram. Another Calling My Phone?
E: checking the 2/27 thread, it had ~3.5m at the same time, and was stronger on AM. So probably not, but still solid.

E: added the clarification that it's rn, I know he isn't bigger than Creedence It's really not insane. If anything, it's not surprising at all that he doesn't have one. Between Drake, Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, Drake is the one who makes the most radio-friendly music and he didn't score a #1 hit as a lead artist till 2016 despite scoring huge top 10 hits from 2009 up until that point. J. Cole scored his first top 10 hit in 2016 (and as part of an album bomb). He really isn't a hitmaker in any shape or form and he doesn't really try to be so how could it be surprising that someone like that doesn't have a #1 hit yet? Kendrick Lamar isn't either but he has more hits than J. Cole and he's been scoring top 10 hits (albeit as a featured act, since 2012). J. Cole's first real hit was Middle Child and that was only 2 years ago. I hope he's able to score another from his forthcoming album.

Dua Lipa is 100% a bigger artist than J Cole, since non-United States countries do in fact exist.

But this thread is about US success (mostly).
Anyway, seems that the Coldplay single isn't doing wonders on AM. Quite interesting to see where it goes on Spotify.
