As long as the sources were appropriately cited it would be okay, I would think.

The milestones keep on coming for Blinding Lights: (Although, I have to admit that BL probably would have gone recurrent if not for the BBMA's.) The Weeknd needs to do some biggest song of all time campaign Rerelease the song in like 10 formats with a bunch of his friends to just remix keep it alive for a few more months I know BTS would if they were in this situation, lol. But Abel could have at least performed BL alongside SYT in the BBMAs and iHeartRadio awards. I've come to accept that BL's time on the charts is coming to an end. I hate having to acknowledge that it got weeks 77 and 78 most likely because of these awards shows. With the recent releases and no awards show this week, BL will for sure go recurrent on the 6/19 chart.

If any sort of formal marketing campaign were to happen it would mean industry recognition of fan-run Twitter accounts which would of course be a huge win for them but unlikely to happen without Billboard themselves weighing in I think

I've come to accept that BL's time on the charts is coming to an end. Thoughts and prayers. You can make it through these difficult times.

I've come to accept that BL's time on the charts is coming to an end. Thoughts and prayers. You can make it through these difficult times. Tell that to the people who are okay with One Too Many (and many other country songs) charting below 50 despite having more than 20 weeks. As you have said before, the extra weeks at 45-49 were unnecessary.

I don't understand the beef with that - it can chart forever as long as it shows metrics gains, whether it is country or not

Just get rid of recurrency lol - it makes the chart a little more boring, but more accurate. Then again, I do get that it'd be annoying if Shape of You or something got 200 weeks.

"One Too Many"'s only reason for charting this long is because people are actually consuming the song outside of radio. Many country songs that have similar radio numbers to it are either below it ("Minimum Wage"), recurrent ("What's Your Country Song" and "Just the Way"), or didn't even debut on the Hot 100 yet ("We Didn't Have Much"), which means if it does make a run for the #1 on airplay, and assuming the label does their playlisting push properly, it will be a legitmately big hit with many many weeks to its name - might even go Top 20, and that's without the attention that a P!nk collab can give if they decide to launch the song on HAC (just look at how "All I Know So Far" is doing over there).
Can we end this discussion now? Country slow burners have been happening all the time, this is no exception. It has its place on the Hot 100.

"One Too Many" has probably not even peaked. Removing it would be misguided, much like it was misguided of some radio charts to keep "Levitating" out until it finally started hitting new peaks.
But old ass songs that have charted for over a year and are actively decreassing, slowly from a huge peak they'll never approach again? Bye. I don't need "Perfect" charting for 80 extra weeks at #95 to know it was a massive hit or that radio will play HAC fodder like that for eternity.
Should recurrency impact all time charts and the like? Maybe not. If "Uptown Funk" really would have ranked much higher with the under #25 weeks added, then it should have gotten those points on the chart. But for the weekly chart it was unnecessary for it to keep taking a spot, when in reality everyone who follows the chart already probably knew about it.

Any press is good press.
