FOUR solo songs in the top 10 at the same time??!? Biggest debut week of an album this year?!?? Wtf i havenβt seen a rookie year this outstanding since the best new artists holy trinity of 2019(Billie, lizzo , & Lil nas). And this is just one person..

I don't know if we can count Lizzo as a rookie artist in 2019, as she was making songs like GAH in early 2016.

There were way more new artists than those three in 2019.

If I remember correctly a lot of radio stations have special playlist for Memorial Day weekend, so current songs get played less. Also, less people might be listening to radio overall than normal.
kworb's Billboard Radio Songs Estimates 2021/05/31

228k seems pretty low to me, Army WAKE UP!!! Dynamite had 2 remixes released in the middle of week 1 and sold 265k digitals. Butter had 0 remixes in the first week and apparently sold 228k digitals. That's not low at all.

Perhaps the most amazing thing about Stay & Blue and Grey's debuts is that Blinding Lights ranked ahead of both in its 52nd week on the Hot 100 chart. Both BTS debuts fell off the Hot 100 the following week (never charting again), while BL remains on the chart a half year later.

Admittedly this sort of thing could be said about a lot of songs, so perhaps it can be said that this is not newsworthy as a result of it being common, however amazing it is for a song to be so successful for so long.

You are comparing one of the biggest hits of all time in the U.S. to two album tracks that got no promotion at all, of course it outcharted them easily.

With Lil Durk & Lil Baby's announcement of Voices of Heroes, I am ready to accept its fate of going recurrent after 78 weeks on the Hot 100.

So if that turns out to be the case, Radioactive will remain the only song to spend 80+ weeks on the chart. I'm curious, what is the general consensus here towards Imagine Dragons?

As someone who likes Radioactive way more than BL, I wish Blinding Lights passed Radioactive though because I donβt think thereβs going to be an opportunity to do it again with the recurrency rules change and Blinding Lights hitting timing perfectly with a later peak and then the pandemic causing the slowest fall ever

Pulse honestly needs to stop hating on every little thing when they get the chance. I know half of these people whoβs hating on BL still being on the charts either complain about everything, donβt like record smashing achievements or secretly like the song but want to not see it win for some reason. I feel like it should pass Radioactive as a final, cherry on top step as being the absolute biggest hit song of all time.

I don't mind them as much as some do. I know they get criticized a lot for making and popularizing "commercial-core," but to be honest, I think a lot of their singles can stand on their own just fine. Even Thunder, probably my least favorite charting single of theirs, has some creative musical moments that could work really well if placed in a better context. I will say their album output is a lot more mixed, though. On the one hand, I think 2015's Smoke + Mirrors is pretty underrated, with some genuinely great deep cuts. On the other hand, 2018's Origins is laughably terrible, and quite possibly killed what little of the band's crossover appeal with the general public was left. (Yes, I know they're charting right now with Follow You, but it's not doing as well as previous singles have, especially on Pop radio.)

And Radioactive peaked at #3...
Anyway, the real story this year (so far) is Olivia managing to score major hits without assistance. Her first 3 'promoted' hits are all solo.

Although Radioactive peaked at #3, it sure has aged well long after its chart run. It has over 8.5 million digital downloads in the US, making it the 3rd best selling song in the country behind only I Gotta Feeling (9.06 million) and Rolling In the Deep (8.86 million).

But in the six years or so since digital downloads stopped being a thing. Has it aged well?

Radioactive will always have a special place in my heart, since it was the first piece of "real" (not from a Disney movie or SpongeBob episode) song I sought out. That YouTube video with the weird puppet fighting pits is peak nostalgia for me tbh.

I happen to like Imagine Dragons too, although my favorite stuff from theirs is in the Smoke & Mirrors era too, like a lot of other people as well, apparently.

But in the six years or so since digital downloads stopped being a thing. Has it aged well? Actually weirdly terribly given how big the song was and how successful Believer & Thunder were during the streaming era On Spotify Radioactive was the second song to hit 200,000,000 streams (back in 2014 I think) and itβs only at 249m now

I'm amazed BB has such a problem with 4 illegal sales from Dua Lipa fans but are ok with the Army mass-buying shenanigans, I'ver seen infinite ads on social media this week saying oh if you don't have $, send us a mail and we'll send you the money... how is that not mass buying?
