Billie new single > Interscope gonna put em bucks on ridiculous extensive playlisting & promo >top 10 debut >down the drain (unless there's payola life-support ) >repeat Yes she's definitely never had a hit with longevity that really connected with audiences. Definitely isn't one of the most streamed artists working today. Nope. Not at all.

With Billie's album release date still being relative far (just over 2 months away) and with her releasing the 4th single off the album next week, I could totally see her releasing a 5th single the week before the album drops and 2 more singles after the album is released.
WWAFA,WDWG had 7 singles off it and I could see Happier Than Ever having the same.

Since you were mentioning Juice's posthumous releases, Lil Bibby is hinting at an album {Spoiler} and another annimated video that looks like s**t
Yeah, This is like a new album teaser.

jthentic I believe she'll be good either way. I've always seen her as more of an albums artist than a singles artist. I think once bad guy took off and became a huge smash hit, expectations were set for her to consistently churn out chart hits but the kind of music she mostly makes doesn't really lend itself to performing really well on the charts. Either way, I can see her next single debuting in the top 10 and I can see her scoring another top 10 debut if she releases yet another single right before the release of her album and maybe even another from an album bomb. That'll put her at 6 top 10 hits from Happier Than Ever.

It appears as if she is going in a very personal direction with this album and that the songs aren't always immediately accessible as hits. That's fine with me, but it is a bit unfortunate that people are dragging on her for one-week wonders when she will will have multiple YE hits from a sophomore release, not something every alt-pop princess can claim, even from very good albums (rip Lorde).

Billie just had a pretty big hit with Therefore I Am, I think she'll be fine.

The way some of you act like Billie has flop after flop, when she's always been known to have longevity. Her album will be huge and I'm sure a song from it will take off after it's release.

Neither "my future" nor "Your Power" sound like hits to me. I didn't expect them to match "bad guy" or even "Therefore I Am".

For pop acts who are driven more by critical acclaim rather than massive hits, not having a big Top 10 or Top 20 hit isnt that big a deal.

Just realized Billie is the pop version of J Cole - decent critical success, cult-y fanbase, high debuts on Hot 100 but ehh longevity, more of an albums artist, I like them.

"bad guy" (49 weeks), "when the party's over" (32 weeks), "Therefore I Am" (27 weeks), "everything i wanted" (33 weeks), "lovely" (22 weeks), "bury a friend" (20 weeks) and "ocean eyes" (20 weeks) all spent at least 20 weeks on the chart. J Cole is lucky to hit 4 weeks with most songs... lmao Billie had the biggest album of 2019 and has had nothing but success ever since, I don't know where this narrative formed but y'all are wrong if you think two radio unfriendly songs have killed her momentum.

Most of her pre-"bad guy" songs have deceivingly low peaks because she was still building her fanbase, but even stuff like "idontwannabeyouanymore" (#96 peak) and "bellyache" (which only bubbled under) have quietly gone 2xPlatinum. "Lovely" is even one of her biggest streaming hits ever. At one point she had multiple songs crawling some charts on the lower regions, like "ocean eyes".

I've never quite understood the narrative that Billie's career post-WWAFA, WDWG has been mediocre. She had a massive 2019 and a massive 2020 despite it being an off year for her and she's set for a massive 2021 as well.Β The arena tour she just announced for her yet-to-be-released album kicks off in February 2022 and all it's dates are nearly sold out (if not all sold out already). I've seen tweets from her fans asking her to add more shows to the North American and European legs of her tour.Β She doesn't have to pander to radio or charts by making generic pop records to score hits. She makes whatever she wants and what connects with people connects. She's already proven herself as one of the most viable album artists of her generation. She's a streaming force, in the US and globally. She has 7 Grammys to her name already. All of this and she's only 19 years old.Β I don't know any artist her age or older who wouldn't kill to have her career right now. Even if she never matches the commercial peak of her debut album era, she'll be good because she'll always have streaming and touring (where she's as established as anyone else out there). Billie will be more than fine moving forward.

Lovely is probably one of the most successful songs of the streaming era to have a low chart peak. Top 20 most liked on YouTube, 1.4 Billion streams on Spotify, etc. As for this next song, I'm excited for it. Also, assuming it comes out on Wednesday or Thursday, this chart week will have had something huge even if it doesn't debut this week. So we have a quiet week for the most part anyway. The 6/19 week will be interesting, as artists are focusing on that week more, so far.

If selling out arenas can work as an argument for the mass appeal of some acts, then it certainly can for Billie.

Yeah, Billie has always had amazing longetivity on streaming with some songs being huge without having big peaks (eg Lovely, When The Partys Over etc). I'm sure Billie's album will perform well, but I feel that the album rollout could have been more concise. The release of the first single for both of her albums was similar (My Future - July 2020/ You Should See Me In A Crown - July 2018), but WWAFAWDWG was released at the end of March 2019 and had 4 pre-release singles in that timeframe whilst Happier Than Ever is coming out in July 2021, but by April 2021 only had 3 singles. Things probably will pick up for Happier Than Ever, but still, the wait has been drawn out a little too much.

Honestly though, I feel like Juice's posthumous releases haven't been all too bad. His 2021 single releases have been pretty mediocre, but a good amount of the material on the Legends Never Die album was pretty good imo. "Righteous" is one of his best songs and I enjoyed some of the other songs like "Wishing Well", "Come & Go", "Conversations", "Life's A Mess", etc. I actually liked most of the droplets. "Life's a Mess II" and even "Reminds Me of You" did take some time to grow on me, but "Real Shit" is legit great and "Bad Boy" is pretty cool too. I don't know which direction the next album is gonna take, though
