Her 7th studio album that was released on April 6, 2012 by RCA Records. Producers included Bryan Michael Cox, Jermaine Dupri, Missy Elliott, Cainon Lamb, and Polow da Don. The album's lyrics explore the complexities of romantic relationships and stages of love, much of which was inspired by Monica's marriage to professional basketball player Shannon Brown and her relocation to Arizona.
Upon its release, the album debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200, and at number two on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, selling 69,000 copies. With first month sales of 116,400 copies, New Life sold significantly less than its predecessors. Singles such as "Anything (To Find You)" and "Until It's Gone" failed to sell or chart noticeably on both the pop and the R&B charts
What are your thoughts on the album? What are your fave tracks? I thought it was a decent, good album. It wasn't nearly as bad as "Code Red" but it wasn't quite on the same level as "Still Standing". It lies in the middle concerning her 2010 albums. My fave tracks are Man Who Has Everything, Until It's Gone, Without You, Cry, Catch Me, and Anything (To Find You).
"Anything (To Find You)": #25 R&B, #19 Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles
"Until It's Gone": #11 Adult R&B, #22 R&B
"It All Belongs to Me" ft. Brandy: #23 R&B
"Without You": #27 Adult R&B, #91 R&B

I liked the ballads in the bottom half.
Did not like the Brandy debut, and it was such an underwhelming climax to what was a hyped up duet reunion.

I remember when this came out the duet with Brandy “It All Belongs To Me” was beyond a let down. I purchased it and tried to get into it, but…. Listening back it’s not nearly as bad as I thought it was. Lol I really liked the track with Rick Ross “Anything (to find you)” Apparently they used it as a heater track because it ended up being used as a heater track. I think it was only on the deluxe. God forbid they put a song with some tempo on the album…. “Until It’s Gone” was really nice in my opinion and kind of reminded me of two of the singles from her prior album “Still Standing”. I don’t know why this didn’t do better????? She also had two other ballads I was into “Cry” which reminds me of her remake of “Misty Blue” and “Time To Move On” which has a similar feel to it as well. “Man Who Has Everything” had a little tempo to it and was pretty good. I guess I enjoyed more of this cd than I thought…. There may be another track I’m missing from it to that I didn’t mind.
