www.radioandrecords.com/Newsroom/2005_01_03/citadelextends.aspMonday, Jan. 3, 2005 Citadel Extends Stern's Holiday Break Four of the company's stations — WAQX/Syracuse, WWKX/Providence, WQXA/York-Harrisburg, PA and WBBL/Grand Rapids — that had pre-empted Howard Stern's holiday "best of" broadcasts for the past couple of weeks, have reportedly not returned the "King of All Media" to the air with the start of the new year. Citadel management has made no secret of the company's displeasure over Stern's ongoing promotion of his pending move to Sirius Satellite Radio and reportedly has sought compensation for the many unpaid on-air plugs by Stern for the satcaster over the past few months. On Monday's show Stern took the opportunity to bash Citadel Chariman/CEO Farid Suleman over the dispute. From me: Active Rock WAQX is sixth in Syracuse. CHR-Rhythmic WWKX (AAA Entertainment station controlled by Citadel) is seventh in Providence-Warwick-Pawtucket. Active Rock WQXA is second in York, third in Lancaster, and fifth in Harrisburg-Lebanon-Carlisle. Sports WBBL-AM is seventeenth in Grand Rapids.
