Brief thoughts on some of the songs so far:

100. Walks Like a Lady---I mean, I do like some of Journey's songs. But this wasn't one of their best ones. I think the lyrics are a bit to blame here. But all in all, it was at least competent?

98. Wango Tango---And here's my 100. This got off to a rough start, bounced back a little. But between all of the talking and the alleged singing, I knew midway through that I found the worst song for this rankdown.

96. A Certain Girl---Wanted to like this one better, but the vocals were kinda weak. And the "I Can't Tell Ya, ah" got annoying fast.

92. Bruce Medley---It may feel fine watching it live. But it doesn't feel like Bruce and I didn't care for him skipping too many of the vocals himself. If you're gonna do a bunch of blues/R&B classics, you're gonna have to seize the mic and sing it yourself!

89. Baby Talks Dirty---It may well be My Sharona 2.0, but it worked for me again. Strong instrumentation and solid vocals pushed this one up the ranks for me. Hopefully, you treat My Sharona with respect. Else, we may have to talk.

88. Free Me---Some of you may not have cared for Daltrey's vocals here. Shame. I thought they had power and sold the material to me. Haven't seen the film this one was selling, though.

87. Endless Night---As a general rule, the vocals on the songs that did worse for me were bad. And they were rough here.

83. We Gotta Get Out of Here---I get that songs have some repetition, but too much and it ends up monotonous. Did like the Ali-Dietrich fight line, but felt the female character was annoying.

78. Her Strut---I may not be a big fan of Bob's vocals, but the guitars and drums did help this one out some. I wish one of the other ones was gone already and the third one maybe ended up in the top half barely.

75. Alabama Getaway---Probably never will be able to get into Grateful Dead. That's just something you'll have to understand about me.

74. Gimme Some Lovin'---Singing, definitely get on the Blues Brothers movie. The action sequences are superb and the comedy is solid (whether it's the scene that involves the mall or the one towards the very end involving waiting for someone to show up). The music here feels like they replaced John and Dan's vocals with studio musicians. Maybe it sounds more competent, but also a bit more dull frankly.

71. Day Tripper---Yeah, it's a Beatles cover. But it's a competently solid one that deserved a bit better.

Not sure why my #99 is still there. I hope the power of the name wasn't worth more than those rough vocals by the singer.

85. Don't Misunderstand Me - Rossington Collins Band
This was a song I could either like or tank. Guitars are ok, but I felt every other rock band has made this song a hundred times over, and much better.

84. Desire - The Rockets
Quite a few of these first time listens were just ok, but couldn't hold a candle up to the many songs I knew and loved on this list. Guitars were good, but a lot of these songs had guitar.

83. We Gotta Get Out of Here - Ian Hunter
This brought a bit more power to the rock table. Up until now my Ian Hunter world consisted of "All Of The Good Ones Are Taken". At least this chorus rocked. Squeezed into my top 50 for that alone.

82. All Night Long - Joe Walsh
I dug the "Heartache Tonight" vibe this had. We should have ranked that instead.

81. Under the Gun - Poco
I would usually stand in line to tank Poco, but I didn't know Poco could actually rock. Sounds like they took a page from mid 80's .38 Special.

80. How Does It Feel to Be Back - Daryl Hall & John Oates
Kinda has a nice melody to it. Jon pulls it off. I would have ranked "(You've Lost) That Love and Feeling" way higher.

79. Headed for a Fall - Firefall
Firefail is more like it. More of that rock vibe I'm glad we are tanking. BTW this is not my type of AOR.

78. Her Strut - Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band
I do love that fact that this song title contains the word of my favorite Kiss song of all time "Strutter", and it does have that kind of rock attitude. It struts, and I like that even more than Bob's vocals.

77. Emotional Rescue - The Rolling Stones
I knew I would lose this top 15 song off the rack, but I'm not turning my back on it. Love it no matter what anyone else says. At least you all understnd what I mean when I tank songs for vocals alone. 

76. Trinidad - Eddie Money
This was passable for Eddie Money. I do love his vocals, but this Rupert Holmes style doesn't scream "Shaken". I can't believe you all like tis better than "Heaven In The Back Seat". 

75. Alabama Getaway - Grateful Dead
Not as Folky as other songs from this band. That is what I liked about it. Perfect slot for the song.

74. Gimme Some Lovin' - The Blues Brothers
Great song. I have a soft spot for 80's comedy soundtracks. Their rendition of "Theme from Raw Hide" blows this way. Its the song they play right after this one. It's campy as F U C K , but also kinda rulez.



73. Phoenix - Dan Fogelberg
Dan has surprisingly great clear vocals. Like Kenny Loggins. This one Pop rocks just enough for me to upgrade it a tad.

72. Back on My Feet Again - The Babys
One of my top hits of this year. Anything John touches vocally turns into gold.

71. Day Tripper - Cheap Trick
Out of all the material we could have ranked from "All Shook Up" why this? I mean it's a pretty good song cover, but I always preferred their Elvis Presley covers instead.


Not bad. The Rolling Stones classic Radio hit out this early sucks, but I knew it would happen.

Damn three Rds in one night. My figs need a break, and I haven't even posted my weekly top 50. I'll see if I can get to some extras this wekend?.
