Being calculated isn't always a bad thing for music. I mean basically the entirety of the late 90s/early 2000s boyband craze was calculated to the millimeter and a lot of those songs still slap to this day.

Between this and Bad Habits, = might end up being my favorite Ed Sheehan album. Visiting Hours is cute too. Am I becoming an Ed fan?!

It's fine, will certainly be another airplay hit for him. Does it have a deal?

just like your posts I guess? this song is a bop. Hopefully this bop will have many copyright cases as it has zero originality as well. But I do understand why Sheeran releases those radio and music killers - these are surefire investments that bring back millions, in that sense he is a genius! But eventually musician needs some brain food as well or otherwise he will end up doing drugs and alcohol. And when you go down that road, those millions won't help...

The more I listen to this the more I hear “Shape of You’s” DNA all over it . I still like it but it must not be exhausting at all for him to stick to this formula.

Wasn’t sure how this was going to sound based on his acoustic snippet from several weeks ago but the production on this is fantastic. This is great

Much better than whatever Bad Habits was. Still not too pleased with the vocal production. Ed is sounding worse than ever with the heavy use of autotune

Ed is getting to be like Beiber and Maroon 5. Just chasing hits, not putting out quality material.

I'm not buying his pop star persona at all. It all seems so cringe. The song is alright, just doesn't fit him. He's better when singing choruses for rappers and big ballads.

Ed is getting to be like Beiber and Maroon 5. Just chasing hits, not putting out quality material. Thank you for your bravery. This is the truth. Both Bad Habits and Shivers sound fine on radio, but neither play to Ed's strengths, whatsoever. It's actually kinda sad to see that this is where he felt his career should go. I will continue to stan his first 3 albums (and to a latter extent, No. 6 Collabs), but I am swiftly losing interest...and patience.

This is his worst single yet -and it has stiff competition. The chorus doesn't really hit, the lyrics are atrocious and he sounds as unconvincing as ever.
I kind of think (and hope) this will be a Skate type of thing, where it skyrockets to #15 thanks to the artist's status and the hit preceeding it, but then the (hopeful) lack of streaming success pushes it down.

I think he plays the pop persona well. You can tell he is very self-aware of what he's working with physically, and it shows that awareness in the video. He milks it, in fact. Good for him.

At least he's making an effort with the visuals this era. Is it a homerun? No, but I kind of dig the whole cheap VFX campy theme.
As for the songs, I loved Bad Habits and I really like this one. Not his best work, but they're solid, and I'm glad he didn't release Thinking Out Loud 3.0 as the second single. I'm sure the album will have some better songs, Visiting Hour's lyrics are up there.

I'm not a fan of Ed Sheeran's wishy washy in between pop songs, stuff like Shape of You is fronted by an acoustic guitar and its incredibly barebones production wise. Most of Divide and that No. 6 Collabs album had this issue. At least if you're gonna do sell-out pop shit, make them sound pop, don't try to do this weird in between thing that just sounds weird.

This is an iconic bop, if this was released by anyone else y'all would love it. It's the Sheeran hate thats making you hate it tbh.

I really like this parts of it remind me of “Bad Habits” and maybe one of his other doings? So far he’s 3 for 3 with me.
