Excellent start to an excellent career for Carly! I’d like to hear some more of her solo material with this sound (not that I don’t like the ‘90s sound lol).

I didn't expect I am the highest ranker for Wasn't That Drunk. It should be the highest duet here at least as Josh Abbott and Carly Pearce have the greatest vocal harmony ever. Also that music video is excellent, especially the confetti scene.
Josh Abbott Band being magnet for critically acclaimed country women (Kacey Musgraves before) is interesting.

Head Over Boots is so refreshing to hear in 2016. Jon Pardi got one of the best instrumentals in country music tbh.

This is one of Kenny Chesney's better singles, but it's long been time for "Setting the World on Fire" to go.

Take out “Sober Saturday Night” and this is one HELL of a Top 20!!! “Unlove You” should’ve been in there, no question. That’s my favorite Jennifer Nettles vocal on record—right up there with “Stay” and “Just Might Make Me Believe.” I’m glad y’all came to your senses tho and caused it to jump up so high from last time!!! That #58 finish from last time was complete blasphemy.

I have 9 of my top 20 left.
It's well past time for the Brothers Osborne to take their exit.

Damn, bummed to see Jon Pardi just miss the top 20. Figured it was a long shot to make the top 10 (and thus the decade rd), but had my fingers crossed.
On the flip side, thrilled that Josh Abbott did so well. Granted, I'm sure his duet partner had something to do with that, but I'll take the wins where I can get them. Front Row Seat is such a great album, "Wasn't That Drunk" isn't even my favorite from the record. It's such a shame that Atlantic tried to get the band to change their sound when they signed in '13. This indie release peaking 10 spots higher than their quite generic major label single shows how well that logic worked out.

"Circles" may have only been able to chart at #55 on regular country radio, but this came right in the heart of my personal chart days, and it managed to have a 34 week climb all the way cup to a 4-week stay at #1 there!!!! It really sucks to see how many of my former friends tried to tank this.....Seriously, "Circles" just has something so sneaky catchy about it. I remember not being fully into it at first, but it's one of those songs that I just came to love more and more every time I heard it, and that trend has continued to this day! (I literally just looked up my old chart data and was like "Wtf, you ONLY kept it at #1 for four weeks?!" 😂 ) I- Are the tractors infighting lol

Although I don't agree with indulge on how we feel about Kenny Chesney in general, I definitely do agree that "Setting the World On Fire" needs to go. It's not top 20 year-end material (and nowhere near his best but I digress).

I…um…what? When one of our biggest Texas fans/traditionalist fans on Pulse is suddenly tanking Willie Nelson songs covered by George Strait, this is the comparison they deserve Ha! "Forever Country" was probably the hardest song for me to rank because it just has little replay value. While it might not be something I ever revisit, it's a commendable effort and is northing short of amazing in how Shane McAnally was able orchestrate this. I'm still surprised though that it ended up doing even better this time around compared to the first year-end rankdown.

As for the remaining songs, there are still eight from the first year-end rankdown that were in the top 10. Of those, I'd have to think that "Burning House", "My Church", "80s Mercedes", "Peter Pan", and "Church Bells" are all still locks for finishing inside the top 10 this time around. I still think "Humble and Kind" has a chance at making it in again as well, but that one seems to have grown a bit more polarizing over the years so it's possible it just misses the mark. I also still think that "Sober Saturday Night" has a decent shot at a top 10 repeat, but based on a couple of the predictions above maybe not. That leaves only "Record Year" which I too think has a good shot at making it back into the top 10.
There's another five songs which are all wild cards as they weren't previously featured including "Girl Next Door", "Just Like Them Horses", "Next Boyfriend", "Reckless", and "Sierra". Of those, I think "Girl Next Door" stands the best shot at making it into the top 10 as it's become a Pulse favorite through the years and has performed quite well in other rankdowns.
There are also three other songs that didn't make the top 20 from the last time around including "21 Summer", "Shut Up and Fish", and "Vice". Of those, I have to give the edge to "21 Summer" possibly making a run for the top 10 this time.
Anyways, here are my predictions for the top 10 and in no particular order:
Burning House My Church Church Bells 80s Mercedes Peter Pan Sober Saturday Night Humble and Kind Record Year 21 Summer Girl Next Door / Vice / Reckless
And here's hoping that my #96 exits sooner rather than later!

I'm sorry for the lag, everyone!!! This school year has kept me on my toes, but especially lately as we've been making sure everything that needs to be done is taken care of before winter break... Tonight I finished the October New Releases rd finally, so now I can focus on finishing this one ;) It will be done in the next couple days, I promise!!

We kick off the top 20 with Lauren Alaina's lone entry in this Rankdown. "Next Boyfriend" is a song that was not a big enough hit to be included last time around, but is no doubt an iconic Pulse Fave from this year, so it was one of the biggest reasons why I felt like this year needed to be redone! And my instincts were correct, as this proved to be a top 20 contender for basically the entire rankdown. It did fall gradually over the course of the rankdown, and ultimately it ended up staying in the top 20 because of raylatch98 's #1 and .indulgecountry's #4 giving it an edge in a tie-breaker versus "Head Over Boots", which had a #1 but no other top 5s.

Given the iconic stature that the songs that are leaving now have in Pulse Lore, you can get a sense for just how competitive things are starting to get at this point!!!! "Mayday" is a song that tends to elicit a LOT of passion among Pulse, as is Cam herself as an artist. "Mayday" did somehow manage to be included last time around due to its performance on Hot Country Songs, and clearly it has not lost any steam among us, as its position this time is equivalent to a 3-position gain from last time!

Contrary to the other top 20 reveals we have seen so far, "Girl Next Door" only got to this point at the very end of the submission period. Somehow Kanenrá:ke ended up giving her her lowest rank right off the bat, and while it didn't take her long to become a consistent top 30 contender, the top 20 was out of reach until our final flurry of lists. I think this song has a really fun personality! "If you want the girl next door, then go next door" just sounds so delightfully sassy when Brandy delivers it I do feel like this is leaving in a good spot, as it's not quite top 10-worthy to me, but it is definitely a fun and noteworthy song from this year! Shame that it's Brandy Clark's only charting song (as a singer. Obviously she has quite a resume built up as a songwriter by now as well!).

The minor key country rock of Girl Next Door sticks out in a good way. As much as Jay Joyce's production being heavy as usual, it kinda fits the fierce emotion of the song.

Sierra is amazing. Very sad that it flopped, but definitely the most underrated single by the duo. Love the catchy melody and instrumental production. I feel like I underranked it even with #8.
