Most of them will survive 3 or 4 weeks tho. Longevity will depend on whether any of them is also pushed to radio or gets a video.

Which is interesting because globally, W2S is the 3rd biggest track on Spotify... Curious to see how Drake and the label handle this. They dropped the ball with Wants and Needs and didn't push it at all earlier this year. I can totally see Fair Trade facing the same.

Iβm still rooting for Fair Trade to come through and be the Nonstop/Controlla of the album and be the βnon single but itβs actually a lowkey singleβ, of the album.

So if we're going by HITS, 97%~ of CLB's streams were paid streams. Absolutely huge. hitsdailydouble.com/sales_plus_streaming693.47 million audio streams = 542,329 SEA 97% of 693.47 million = 672,665,900 / 1,250 paid ratio = 538,132 + 3% of 693.47 million = 20,804,100 / 3,750 free ratio = 5,547 538,132 + 5,547 = 543,679 SEA units. As we know... paid streams are weighed considerably higher on Hot 100 and that is a way higher than normal amount of paid streams for each song.

Lmao. So now the 'has Drake finally peaked forreal this time?' discussion will die down for a little, then pick back up and continue into next year for a 5th year straight.
He always comes back and breaks even more records. Occupying the entire top 3 multiple times and having the most top 10 hits ever from an album in the same year plenty of people said the Drake-era had passed. Not sure who else has these historic records while being past their peak.

It depends on longevity maybe. Unless we consider Adeleβs peak to be either βHelloβ and/or 25.

The Scorpion era was his peak honestly. On the last song on More Life, βDo Not Disturbβ, he said βIβll be back 2018 to give you the summaryβ. Despite him gone for 7 months or so on the charts, he then βcame backβ on the first month of 2018 with Godβs Plan which was a huge moment and the video/one liner carried the song through its number 1 run. Then he also had featured on many other songs, putting on Lil Baby and Blocboy JB to the mainstream. Then Nice For What came out and almost everyone (including the critic world for a surprised) had loved this song. Then Iβm Upset came out and everyone hated the song. Then shortly right after, the Pusha T beef fueled the anticipation for the album even more as Infrared and The Story of Adidon took critical shots at Drake. When Scorpion dropped, unlike Views this was available everywhere from Day 1. It racked all sorts of records and streams on the streaming charts it was inescapable. Then the billboard chart came out and we saw he had 7 top 10 hits at the same exact time which was never done before. Then a viral dance came out for In My Feelings and that was his 3rd #1 for the album and carried Scorpion throughout the entire summer. His feature game was still present during this time, most notably featuring on Travis Scottβs Sicko Mode, which technically carried the era through 2019, and then on CBβs No Guidance carrying it through 2020. I felt like the era officially ended when Toosie Slide and DLDT came out. We just gotta see how CLB does in terms of longevity but i donβt see it besting out Scorpion imo.

Not sure who else has these historic records while being past their peak. I still think his peak was with Scorpion. This is insane ofc, but I don't see him topping Scorpion era and those 3 huge #1s. Yeah, I think thereβs peaked in the sense of 1. The technical definition: a singular point of popularity 2. The Pop music discussion world term: as in someone no longer being a top name. The latter is what a lot of people were questioning (i.e. asking if the Drake run/era was over). He may have reached a single point of popularity peak, but this week shows heβs still at the very top if not still the single most chart prevalent artist today so his overall run at the top seems to still be going. Reminds meβ¦ I remember a *certain* user claiming Money in the Grave was the lead single of his next album, then went on to claim his features were his biggest hits recently and he no longer can get as big hits as lead artist lmao. Iβm sure that user is finding this week interesting.

In terms of certain opening week numbers, such as total number of paid streams and number of Hot 100 debuts from the album in the top ten, yes (if that prediction holds), however, in terms of overall how the era will perform, of course you cannot say this yet, and it is highly unlikely it will outperform Scorpion's entire run. Don't get me wrong, his numbers are still extremely impressive, having the biggest opening week of the year by far, and the first to move over 500k in a while, however, his total SPS is still down from not just Scorpion or Views, but even a little from Take Care and Nothing Was the Same (per the Hits number), so in that regard, he has already peaked.

Less about any of that and more about the fact that he's still able to put up these numbers. That's the most impressive thing about Drake's career to me β that for the last 12 years, he's never not been around. There's always at least one song in rotation. Being as active as he's been for as long as he's been and still being able to put up numbers like this will always blow my mind because no one else is doing this. You almost feel like it shouldn't be allowed or something. With that being said, I don't think CLB will be bigger than Scorpion and I think commercially, Drake will never see another year as big as 2018. This man scored at least 10 smash hit records that year (across his own solo stuff and features) that are all 5x Platinum or more. I've never seen that before. We always focus all the attention on Scorpion and it's performance that year but that entire year was thoroughly dominated by Drake. I guess in that regard, yes, you could say he's peaked but unless he has another era/year where he's clearly shooting for hits/trying to replicate the dominance he had in 2018, I can't judge his commercial standing based on how big his hits are anymore. Not when he's scored as many hits as he has already. I kinda view Taylor Swift the same way. Obviously with Taylor, none of her singles since the 1989 era have performed even remotely close to the level of the singles from that album and her days of debuting with 800K-1M+ units are over but I can't say she's "dropped off" when she's still outdoing every other female musician commercially. Yes, she may not be able to "score hits" anymore but who really cares about that when she's moving more album units and her catalog is outstreaming almost everyone else's? She has more than enough hits and she'll be just fine if she never scores another. If I can't knock her down a peg because she doesn't score hits anymore then I definitely can't do that to Drake either, who has more hits than anyone else in this generation. To me, artists like them are in a different league. They've been doing this at the highest possible level for a very long time and have been way too consistent commercially. Just the fact that they're both still outdoing their peers, is impressive enough for me. Drake's catalog today averages more weekly streams than in 2018 and in any given year, he's outstreaming everyone whether or not he drops an album. Someone who is still able to manage that at this stage of their career may have peaked but there definitely hasn't been a fall off either.

Just did a quick calc. In 2012, the average sales for the #1 album on the weekly Billboard 200 is 230,462 and in 2021 the average #1 is 138,649 (before CLB). That's a 40% decline. So that means 600k in 2021 (4.33x the average) is about 997k in 2012.
