Unbelievable numbers even for Drake. We'll see how well this will hold throughout the week, but I'm expecting him to occupy the entire top 3 on Hot 100 once again. 6 or 7 songs in the top 10

I mean, yes and no. I remember how huge it was to have a song over 10M streams, now it's not a big deal. Olivia does it with ease, Xmas music, "Stay" too. We are talking about new music so Xmas music doesn’t really have anything to do with it. Hollywood’s Bleeding did less opening streams than Beerbongs & Bentleys even with “Circles”, “Sunflower”, and “Wow” preceding the release. The fact CLB topped Scorpion with NO prior hits on the album or going into the album release makes it that much more insane. I know that we are talking about new music, but I think AIWFCIY's record numbers shows how Spotify is bigger every year. 8mil ('17) > 10.8 ('18) > 12.1 ('19) > 17.2 ('20). also, when "drivers license" broke the US Spotify record (over 6mil streams), only "Good Days" had more than 900k streams that day. Which proves that people are there to stream, only when they have something to stream. About Hollywood's Bleeding, that era was really weird. Sunflower and Wow were released like 9 months before the album, and I think we thought "Goodbyes" was the lead song ( a flop lead by someone's standards), also, "Circles" was released only one week before. I don't think (remember) HB had the big hype behind it or the hype B&B had, but it's probably a bigger success now.

Post Malone isn't comparable at all. He lives and dies with pop hits (see Motley Crew) and whatever takes off.

• Drake SLAYING Spotify records in the U.S.
• ABBA OBLITERATING Spotify records in Sweden and other Nordic/Eastern European countries despite being a band who debuted 49 years ago.
• It’s a good day!

After this first-day record Spotify/Apple Music numbers, the next thing I want for CLB is to break Scorpion's Billboard 200 streaming record. Surpassing Scorpion with a follow up album with 0 hits would be very fulfilling.

I don't think (remember) HB had the big hype behind it or the hype B&B had, but it's probably a bigger success now. Nothing about Hollywood’s Bleeding era was “weird”. It came fresh off an already huge peak a year earlier, had 3 big hits preceding it, and still did less than streams than his prior album. He is the next closest streaming monster to Drake so it is a good comparison. Ariana did much less opening streams with “Positions” following “thank u next”. Billie did much less opening streams with “Happier than Ever” following “when we all fall asleep” and she also released a few relative duds and went into the album with no hits like Drake. Given all those examples, once again, it is insane Drake managed to top Scorpion’s opening day, after already topping Views with Scorpion at that. It literally is nothing but extremely impressive.

I also think this is extremely impressive and really huge, but I just don't think it's unexpected. Bieber had a #1 smash during release, versus Yummy last time…. Taylor only had ONE album that was available on streaming during release prior to Folklore… Kanye’s prior two albums available on streaming during release was a 7 track album and a Gospel album. This is a 27 track Hip Hop album… Again you proved my point. There is no big streaming artist with a similar circumstance going into this release that was able to top their previous huge opening like this. Even those with much better circumstances (ala Post and The Weeknd) were still struggling to top their previous streaming openings. Drake had less hits this time, less hype, less tracks on the album, less discussion, less build up, and even the “beef” he was in was way smaller in press than the Pusha T beef Scorpion had. He was lacking in all aspects and still did higher numbers this opening.

I never thought he would beat Scorpion’s numbers with this, especially considering he went into this with no hits at the moment and no prior hits on the album. Just crazy. Yeah he’ll probably decrease relatively hard throughout the week but this is already a win. Over a decade of doing huge openings and he’s turning 35 - not really much you can criticize with this run. Besides the shit music you mean

One thing about these album bombs is that they’re taking out songs that are already on their way out and most of them are not good so it’s a plus for me.

Also whatever first week opening HITS is initially projecting, just take 50-100k off of that. They literally overpredict every single Drake album lol. I don't know why they always do this with his albums. It's like they set him up. They'll overestimate his numbers and then the projections will drop throughout the week. I hope they do things differently this time around. So its HITS' fault people stop listening throughout the week

Do you guys really believe that the BTS fans are going to be able to pull that off? /photo/1 lol, with basically no radio and streaming dropping like a rock, this has no chance of happening. I wouldn't be surprised if Drake swept the entire Hot 100 Top 10, and Butter falls off the Top 25.

A lot of people here may not want to admit this but I feel it’s true, Army is one of the smartest, clever, strategic and well organized fan bases we’ve seen so it wouldn’t surprise me if they did manage to manage to keep Butter in the top 10.

I've noticed that one of the major reasons people are disappointed with this album is because they can't find any clear hits. Just listening to the album and the fact that he kept LNCL/Wants and Needs/What's Next off the album, common sense should suggest that he isn't shooting for hits with this album. Halsey just did the same thing and the same Pulse members who defended and could understand her decision to release her album completely without a single beforehand can't fathom that with Drake. How predictable. If it makes you feel any better for a lot of people that's not even in the top 5 reasons for not liking the album.

A 171 debut is never good We get it, nothing we gays like is ever successful. Now please leave us alone and let us enjoy great music and go back pretending only "successful" music is the most meaningful and leave a lasting impacting.

Well it was only at 7 without the push from the remix. That's only 4 songs. And with nearly 5 songs debuting over 5 million, it's all but certainly gonna get be under those.
I'd say chances are very slim

A 171 debut is never good it's a remix album..... It was never gonna do big numbers.... Because it was a remix album. You have to compare it to other things in its realm of popularity, otherwise you'll get takes like "Sza's album came out but the best performing song ONLY debuted with 2.2m; That's not great, Drake debuted with 6.1m!"

I also think this is extremely impressive and really huge, but I just don't think it's unexpected. Plus, we shouldn't discount the pent up demand for an actual studio album (not discounting the EPs, compilation and mixtape that were released to fill the gap) from Drake. Slightly over 3 years is the longest he has taken between a release of this type. Also, while the top songs don't seem to get week in and out record-breaking numbers, audio streaming has continued to grow overall. Finally, there's this:
