Aretha and Glady's are two of my favorite female vocalists ever. They're my one and two.
Even though Donna peaked vocally in the 80's, I still had to pick her for third. Her clarity and control was unworldly.

1) Patti 2) Donna Summer 3) Tina Turner
honorable mention:
Chaka Khan Aretha Diana

Aretha and Donna for sure for me, deciding between Patti and Barbra for the third.

Olivia Newton-John, Linda Ronstadt, Carly Simon? Don't kill me but those 3 that you mentioned did not have near the range of the ones previously mentioned...but I will use them in another poll.

I can confirm that Linda most definitely had the range. She could sing several of the women in this list under the table. But she's largely forgotten compared to most of the names listed here.

If you are talking range? Half the ones you listed should not be included. Don't get me wrong, all very talented. Linda Ronstadt vs Roberta Flack, Dionne Warwick? Chaka Khan?
Call this what this is. Best R&B women of the 60s and 70s(plus Streisand). And I wouldn't argue with you there. But hardly a list for best vocal range.

I said what I said...and saying Dionne doesn't have range is crazy. Watch her live performances in the 60-80s. Chaka Khan is self explanatory. And not my fault if the top vocalists of those 2 decades happen to be R&B and Diana and Donna are more Pop than R&B.

Linda can most definitely sing Diana under the table.

Aretha, Donna, then Barbra, but I would also mention Patti, Linda, and Gladys.
