LeeAnn Rimes came close too Her hitting #2 in 1997 doesn't fall under the "since then" of 2000, though. Taylor Swift could be in the group of close to #1 "since then," though. "You Belong With Me" hit #2. Right, I forgot about that. Thanks. Though to be fair, Taylor has strayed so far away from country for so long that I genuinely keep forgetting that she nearly hit #1 with a country song (and would have if not for the BEPs’ unprecedented run that year).

Lone star had a pop remix that helped it.

That Ed Sheeran song sounds 2000s to me.

Fancy Like remix is out, and might make a run at #1 during this tracking week: This chart date is my literal birthday, and I will not have this song at #1 on my birthday! happy birthday 🥳

You’re delusional if you think a Kesha remix is gunna help a song contend for #1 in 2021, but then again, it wouldn’t be out of character for you. I'm sure people would be called far more delusional if they predicted a country-trap song by a completely new, up-and-coming rapper would be a 10+ week #1, along with the help of Billy Ray Cyrus, in 2019, so it's not at all out of the realm of possibility, especially if y'all (who aren't even fans of the song) are saying it might go #1 anyway, as did Old Town Road. Plus, the fact that it's being offered as a double single - the remix packaged along with the original for $1.99, would only help its sales, though I don't know if they will count that as one or two sales.

Speaking of country, I just finished star-crossed and it's a good album but I think it's definitely her weakest album to date.

The Kesha remix might not directly lead it to #1, but I think Fancy Like could possibly reach there soon

If you go by the very weird rules Billboard uses to clasify genres... "We Are Never Getting Back Together" hit #1 on Country Songs and the Hot 100. Weirdly enough it missed #1 on POP.
At the start of 2012, Hot Country Songs ranked songs based on weekly airplay data from country music radio stations compiled by Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems. With effect from the issue dated October 20, 2012, however, the magazine significantly altered the methodology of this chart, incorporating digital downloads, streaming, and airplay not only from country stations but from stations of all formats. These changes were controversial, as some critics felt that they unduly benefited acts with crossover appeal, as opposed to those whose songs were played only on country stations. At the same time, Billboard launched the new Country Airplay listing, which used the methodology of ranking tracks based solely on country radio airplay. Although this chart was published for the first time in 2012, Billboard retrospectively considers the period since Hot Country Songs began using Nielsen data in 1990 to also form part of the history of the Country Airplay listing.
An immediate beneficiary of the change in methodology for the Hot Country Songs chart was Taylor Swift. In the first week of the new system, her song "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together", which had been falling down the chart and had been at number 21 the previous week based on country radio airplay alone, rose straight to number one when streaming, downloads, and plays on other radio formats began to be counted. Swift's song would remain in the top spot for nine consecutive weeks, setting a new record for the longest unbroken run at number one by a female singer held since 1965 by Connie Smith's "Once a Day". Based on country radio airplay alone, however, Swift's song dropped even further to number 36 on the first published Country Airplay chart, the same week that it jumped to number one on Hot Country Songs. The song's greater popularity on pop music radio than country stations highlighted Swift's increasing move away from the country genre.

After the whole STAY debacle, just assume anytime they predict something will go to number one, it's not gonna happen lol, I did acknowledge (on the 9/18 thread) the possibility that Stay may never return to #1 again due to the emergence of Fancy Like.

Whatever, just as long as y'all stop calling him an LGBT icon, y'all can have your garbage "country" song Okay keep your regional bigotry to yourself- plenty of people rightfully like Madonna and Lady Gaga for supporting the LGBT community, just because he’s a straight white guy singing country music from the South (which is further reason to like him because he has nothing to gain from his support) doesn’t make his support any less valid and important Like the song don’t like the song who cares- but sh*tting on someone for supporting the lgbt community is wrong and kinda homophobic

PLEASE LET THE KESHA REMIX OF FANCY LIKE OVERTAKE THE ORIGINAL IN POINTS if it has to become a hit, the bad will be outweighed with kesha showing chart success again I was so confused and then I see its THE Kesha. Idc about the quality of Fancy Like anymore, i just wanna see her in the top 5 again!

We'll see if her team figures it needs someone to help it along or not. I don't know what percentage of songs get remixed anyway.

Lady Gaga is bisexual so no it's not just that she supports the LGBT community that makes her an icon. 2. I'm not s**tting on someone for being supportive of the LGBT movement. It's great that he's supportive and he is an ally. 3. What I am against someone calling a straight person an "gay icon" just because they are supportive of our movement, that's not how it works. I don't know if you're LGBT yourself but it comes across as being ignorant when you say someone is a gay icon means being supportive of the LGBT movement. That'd be like saying Joe Biden is an LGBT icon because he's pro gay marriage and trans rights. Music has to be co-opted and accepted by the gay community as symbols of pride and joy. That's why Kacey Musgraves is beloved amongst gay country fans and Walker Hayes isn't. I'm part of a number of music circles that are full of gay music listeners and I've almost never heard them talk about Walker Hayes or Fancy Like except to bash it. 4. I'm pansexual so lmao at calling me homophobic. EDIT 5. I never said him being from the South was a reason he isn't a gay icon, you did that yourself. There's plenty of Southern artists and celebrities - as well as a number of country singers, some of which I highlighted in previous threads - who are pro-LGBT so it's not like he's an outlier either.

saying gay is okay doesn't make someone a queer icon.
like people who say "I’ve said f——t roughly 15 thousand times in my life. Does saying f—-t mean you hate gay people? Do I hate gay people? I don’t think I hate gay people. Gay is ok.”

Family Ties is #6 on Spotify and another Baby Keem/Kendrick track at #11. Otherwise pretty slow Friday. Shivers debuts at #13.

If it weren’t for Drake and Kanye, Family Ties would be at 2 on Spotify, do we have a future rap star on our hands?

Does Fancy Like have some BTS esque secret sales or something because nothing about its current numbers are pointing to number one?

So do we think Way 2 Sexy is gonna stay atop the chart this week? It has a good chance. Fancy Like and Stay are going to be the biggest threats. Should be an interesting 3-way race.

Stay has too much airplay I reckon. It’s Bieber so they’re gonna pump as much airplay into this song as they could.

I’m a bit confused too, I don’t see anything about Fancy Like that’s leading me to believe that it’s going to 1.
