let's see what I missed?
40. Gold - John Stewart For some reason this was a huge hit on pop. Never did much for me as a kid, and now it just sounds really dated. I think I saw this guy perform on Solid Gold. Whatever, It's passable on guitar levels I guess. Please don't say this got a major upgrade because of the Stevie Nicks backups.
39. My My, Hey Hey (Out of the Blue) - Neil Young F U C K ing finally. Don't see what anyone hears in this aside from the fact that it's Papa Grunge? The other one is slightly better cause of guitars , but the hook is rather ugly so expect both of these wonderjams to float together in my list.
38. Girl of My Dreams - Bram Tchaikovsky probably heard this a handful of times in my lifetime. Not very memorable at all, but falls in the 80 songs I liked from this list.
37. Lotta Love - Nicolette Larson Always liked this song. Big in the 80's. very nice vocals, and melodically fantastic. Has that early 80's disco pop flavour ,and that flute takes it to another pop level.. I'm just glad I heard her version before Papa Grunge's.
36. Getting Closer - Wings Both Wings' songs were pretty much filler material for me. I didn't recall neither of them. The highlight of both songs would be Paul's vocals.
35. Accidents Will Happen - Elvis Costello & The Attractions This was alright. Another one I wasn't too familiar with back then. I might have ran into it sometimes in the 90's, but Certainly not in the 80's.
34. Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy - Bad Company Another classic Rock jam where the lyrics really speak to me. The guitar fire was a bonus. #29 in my actual top 100 of 1969.
33. Goodnight Tonight - Wings And here is that other Wings song. In a Pop RD I would have ranked this one higher for the rhythm. 'nuff said.
32. Fire - The Pointer Sisters Pointer Sisters on mainstream rock. Not in my wildest dreams, but this one rocks. That bassline. WOW! I have also heard Bruce's versions ,and Robin Williams doing Elmer Fudd. That one is classic.
31. Driver's Seat - Sniff 'n' the Tears I recalled this had some Psychedelic Alternative Rock sound, but was never a song that blew me away. Thank God this slot was not Molly Hatchet. That's all I have to add.
30. Lady Writer - Dire Straits This was pretty cool , because it sounds like "Sultans of Swing" part II, but still a poor man's version of it. That being said I hope "Money For Nothing" retains its crown for Dire Straits' best showing.
29. Dance the Night Away - Van Halen Classic Van Halen. That melody is from some other songs and I always thought it was a gimmick to get them their first big Hot 100 hit, but it has David Lee Roth on vocals, and that's enough to cream a song proper. We still have some serious Van Halen fire in the waiting.

Not one but TWO Cheap Trick in the Top 25, and one of them is a live cut! Two Blondies. Two Supertramps. Two Police. Two Cars.
One of my favorite ELOs. One of my favorite Fleetwood Macs.
Molly Fricken Hatchet! Charlie Fucking Daniels!
Nick Lowe! Roxy Music! (not one of my favorites, but hey it's Roxy Music!) The Talking Heads! AC/DC! Zeppelin
And my favorite discovery of the countdown: The Records
Bring It On! I'm excited; this is a high caliber top 25.

Ngl Shattered would have probably done pretty well on my list. Long Live Rock too. Same here with those two songs and "Hey St. Peter." While it's a slow burner, "Children of the Sun" would still have had a chance of making my top half in a year like this.
Also, "Tomorrow Night" by Shoes is yet another MTV opening day track.

What Were You Thinking When You Made This Terrible Choice If it weren't for those annoying synths, I probably would have been kinder to this one. Still gave it a 2.5/5 anyway.

I don't consider Starry Eyes typical mainstream rock, but my God what pure pop perfection. Had never heard this before, immediately loved it. Impressed that it went this far.
