Even though it is still a bit early for Christmas music, the fact they only had her do two appearances for the entire album release week - that were just radio interviews - is just senseless. She should have been booked on the Today Show and Fallon like she always does during promo rounds. The Kellyoke last Friday should have been “Christmas isn’t Canceled”. A quick Instagram live with her and Ariana during release week would have been great social media promo. That doesn’t seem too much to expect for release week… then ramp back up in December with a Christmas special, Voice performance with Ariana, Rockefeller tree lighting, White House Christmas, there is usually some country Christmas special where she can perform the duet with Chris, all Christmas Kellyokes are songs from the album, a special holiday episode of her show centered around the album, a Kelly and Ryan interview, Today Show performance. All seems pretty reasonable but I won’t be surprised if we don’t get half of those things…

Are we really worried about the first week sales, though? We all know that there are HITS on the album that will easily carry it to new peaks in coming weeks.

I think they are smart to save the promo appearances for a time when they will have more effect. Most outlets aren't going to have her back again a month or two later for the same project so she's better off to do promo in November/December when people are more receptive to Christmas music.

I'm more confused how Carrie debuted at #8 on Billboard last year with 'My Gift' in September but Kelly only debuted at #46 even closer to Christmas. I would have thought given how Kelly is on television everyday, people would think to check out her music but maybe I'm wrong. She definitely should do some more promoting in the next few weeks and months though so hopefully the album will become more popular.

Carrie has been a consistent seller and was coming off the Platinum Cry Pretty two years prior. Kelly hasn't released an album in 4 years, and I don't think her last sold as well as Cry Pretty so it shouldn't be a surprise. And as has been said, the sales and promo will kick in more as the holiday season progresses.

I literally don't know a single person (in my real life) who actually purchases albums. Everyone just streams....so why do we care about this outdated metric? Is it also possible that country music fans are more 'traditional' and therefore more likely to still buy an album?

I remember being home from college in the summer of 2006, watching videos of Kelly singing from the Addicted Tour on the computer. I sat in my mom’s home office, watching Kelly sing Maybe for the first time, and I started crying. That was the moment when my lifelong relationship with this artist was cemented, when I officially became a “stan.” And now I’m watching Kelly sing Maybe again, 15 years later, with her even better voice, after she has gone through a heartbreaking divorce, and I can’t help but to cry again. Thank you, Jason Halbert, for convincing Kelly to sing some of her own songs on her show. It means more than you know to her fans. And thank you for helping to create WCCA, one of Kelly’s best albums to date. Her voice on record continues to sound better than ever, and I know a lot of that has to do with your skill set as a producer.

Happy 10 year album anniversary to "Stronger"! Urgh. I remember blasting that album like every day for months. 10 years?! Now I'm feeling old. Her second most successful album in the UK behind Breakaway. Kelly's newest Xmas album is great. I wouldn't pay much attention to the numbers/debut currently. They are sure to rise in the coming weeks, especially once halloween has been and gone and most people turn into Christmas mode.

Hoped to see much higher position, at least top 20 debut but it's not surprising situation at all and it will be better until the season ends. Anyway, Atlantic Records should try to promote "Merry Christmas (To The One I Used To Know)" which may be another big hit for her. This song is perfect not only a holiday song but as pop ballad.

The Ariana duet could land Kelly in the top 10 - at least - come December. The Stapleton duet could bring her a country top 5.
I’m not as elated as I was with WIR, but there are career gems on this album. I hope they do the most with this, there’s a lot of potential chart smashes.

I no longer fret about Kelly’s record sales anymore. Her career is cemented for a while unless something goes horribly wrong which is highly unlikely.

The Maybe performance made me want to listen to My December but it's not on Apple Music. WHY?!

When Christmas Comes Around... officially debuts at #63 on Billboard 200. This album deserves our attention this coming holiday season.

Not in Canada for some reason :( Yeah, it’s not there but the album seems to be uploaded under the non-existent artist “Sofiya Grinko.” music.apple.com/ca/artist/sofiya-grinko/395126459 Very strange. The tracks even appear this way on Kelly’s official playlists.

I feel like she's been battling with throat issues/a cold yes? That Bobby Bones radio interview, some of TKCS interviews, etc. have her sounding quite hoarse and low. That said, it's inspiring to see her power through like on the above, she does it so well.

She mentioned going to a concert and screaming a lot and waking up and being hoarse and having to change the Kellyoke songs to fit her current state.

I feel like she's been battling with throat issues/a cold yes? That Bobby Bones radio interview, some of TKCS interviews, etc. have her sounding quite hoarse and low. The others have already mentioned the Alanis concert. That was on either the 5th or 6th that she went to that and yesterday and today's episode were filmed on the 8th. The "Dreams" and "It's Your Thing" episodes were filmed on the 7th and she very noticeably sounded "rougher" in the talking portions of those shows too. I believe the Bobby/Elvis interviews happened closer to Monday that following week than release day just based on a few things she said in them. There was another recently aired episode that she had mentioned that she was super exhausted as a bit of a throwaway comment and that was filmed release week. So I think it was just a recurrence of her "I'm super tired from a lot of things going on but still pushing through it" voice happening there for a bit that tends to pop up when she has a lot going on. The show is dark this week but it seems she's not really getting a break. Her MUA was posting from Universal the last several days. The band/crew guys that usually go back to Nashville on the off weeks have stayed in LA. This looks like a random toy dinosaur account but it's really Chris Dye (ig link), her longtime production manager/bts do-aller for tapings, events, and tours. He's based out of TX so whenever he travels to some event that's Kelly related, he takes a shot from a plane with the dino and posts it. He's headed to LA and Lester's drum tech is also traveling today. I know we haven't heard anything else about that rumored tv special, but maybe they're headed out for that. If not that, surely it's for other promo things they have lined up.
