In the end, the winner was a really predictable one, a song that is sort of overhyped. Don't get me wrong this is definitely fun when it comes on and like I enjoy it, but the way this song is treated as some legendary song is... not my favorite lol. 5. "Save Your Tears" [3]: I thought this would be the higher of his songs, for aforementioned reasons. This was definitely a grower, and I'm glad the Ariana Grande remix gave it the boost it needed to be the #1 hit it, IMO, should have been all along.
4. "Blinding Lights" [1]: I felt morally obligated to rank this at #1. As someone mentioned on one of the Hot 100 threads, this was the last thing we had remaining from pre-COVID, and that's really kind of sad to think about. Even though I had to rank this number one as I still think it's the best song on the list, I admit it would've been a bit silly if it had won. The fact that it still does so well here is a true testament to how much we love this song in spite of everything.
3. "Kiss Me More" [9]: Nice song, and good delivery from both artists and the Olivia Newton-John sample. However, I definitely prefer "Say So" and it was a big step below the rest of this top 5 for me. I am extremely happy with this top 2, as I kind of expected "Kiss Me More" to take one of their places.
2. "good 4 u" [4]: Obviously influenced by Paramore's "Misery Business" this is a definite jam and easily my favourite of her three singles. And we all know it should have had a lot more weeks at #1. Just imagine my level of salt today if J. Cole had debuted at #1 instead of #2 that week, resulting in "good 4 u" never getting to #1... Anyways, I'm glad it made the top 2 in this rankdown. I really had no preference between this or "Levitating" winning.
1. "Levitating" [2]: Based on my comments on the thread at the time, I wouldn't have ranked it this high, lol. As fate would have it, the resurgence on the radio for this song actually made it grow on me even more. I must say it has become my favourite of her US hits. Definitely an irresistibly catchy song, and I'm glad it managed to attain such chart longevity against all odds. Still upset that it somehow missed out on that #1, though. "Leave the Door Open" already got its #1 peak before that, lol.
