How much do women country stars not named Carrie, Miranda or Maren usually do first week? This seems surprisingly low to me, maybe I'm wrong? Although, I probably wouldn't have expected more than 20k, to begin with. Kelsea did 29k last year with her self titled. Gabby did 20k last year with her debut (mind you the massive streaming of the first two singles were a huge reason why her numbers were this high.) Lauren did 7.2k last week with her album. Overall her numbers are decent, but I think this should’ve been in the 15k-20k range. Idk if the release of the ep is a reason why the numbers are lower. I do know that when I went to my local Walmart and Target to pick up the album, it was nowhere to be found. Country listeners are usually more of a buyer than a streamer. The album should be on the shelves for people to buy.

Why is “Diamondback” one word? She never mentions a Diamondback rattlesnake I don’t think? Shouldn’t it be “Diamond back”?

I think the song isn't nearly as clever as the songwriters intended, but I think the pun is just loosely referring to a man being a 'snake' because he was a liar/cheater, so calling it "Diamondback" makes sense. They could've worked the lyrics to make the snake reference more campy or obvious and that might've made the song more fun, and when I saw the title my mind went in a different direction for what I expected the production to sound like, and the end result instead feels a little demo-y like a few other tracks on the record and doesn't have the punch I expected (adding a shaker to play off the rattlesnake cue and some other darker elements would've been killer).

I had this same issue; I went to Target expecting that it would be on the shelves (my local Target is still really good on new releases), and it was nowhere in sight. I had to just buy it from the app, and it just came on Friday.

I'm glad you brought up the singles for Gabby because I was going to say that Carly and any artist who doesn't have any sort of big single that has traction at the time of an albums release is at a disadvantage when it comes to an album debut. Also going forward, many country artists will be seeing lower debuts since tour bundles are now ineligible for the Billboard 200 now. I know it was a popular sales tactic for some bigger country artists (Kenny Chesney comes to mind since he blocked Drake not too long ago).

Well it appears "29: Written In Stone" failed to chart on the Billboard 200. I thought Billboard may have combined its data with the "29: EP", but they never tweeted anything about it re-entering the chart.
Kind of sad that it couldn't even chart, but in Carly's defense she had no single with any sort of big traction at the time of the release which hurt it.

Well Rolling Stone has it at 57 on their chart, so I'd be surprised if it failed to chart at all.

This is the ONE song I also have an issue with on an otherwise incredible album. I hadn't even thought about the title though, now that bugs me too. The part that was really a turn off for me is her stating he can have the Dog and the Cadillac but he ain't getting the Diamond back. I know, seems nitpicky but like, you are just going to give up the dog!? What kind of person are you!? Dogs > Diamonds.

Thank you to both you and d3vin44 for your responses!! I know I am far from her biggest fan but definitely thought I missed something or wondered how a typo made it that far in the tracklisting process LOL. ETA: I actually feel the same about the demo-y production here, not with the original "29" songs, but these newer ones. I actually think 'What He Didn't Do' is a great song, but the production is really bad and lame to me. 'Should've Known Better' somehow has more "punch" and sounds like a more surefire hit, despite the former being the stronger track.

Merged with "29" under Billboard's album charts. 11k SPS this week, No. 9 on country album chart.

So I'm seeing in the newest Billboard Country Update that 29 re-entered the Billboard 200, so Billboard is counting it as a re-entry which is why it wasn't listed in the debuts. Whew, I was scared that Carly failed to chart at all and that would've been a HUGE disgrace considering this probably is the best album she's put out to-date.

Listening to this album a couple days ago, it hit me... "Easy Going" gives me Sara Evans vibes. Then I started to remember like 8 months ago, Carly tweeted a screenshot of her listening to Sara's "Long Way Down". At the time I thought, oh how cool! Carly is listening to Sara's "after the label years" stuff.
Like, she had to have been in the process of creating "Easy Going" that day when she posted about jamming out to "Long Way Down". I'm 100% convinced... It even has the long instrumental outro that Sara does a lot.
