Take My Breath was great but I agree, I think the GP is starting to get tired of his whole 80's thing I don't think there was anything wrong with the song or that fact it was 80s. It was a great song, and seemed to get a glowing response from both fans and critics alike. The problem was that the timing was just simply off, he released TOO early when we were still on the tail-end of the After Hours era. They really needed to wait only a few months (like around now would have been a good time to release) or sometime next year. The plate was simply too full, and they really shot themselves in the foot with that. And too bad, because TMB was a really good song and they had all the hype going, it's going to be hard to replicate that.

The Weeknd doing synthwave is getting old. He should try experimenting with the sounds of the 90s/00s. Going back to the vibe that The Hills, Starboy and Heartless brought is always a welcome and of course we have seen how successful these songs are as they are his most distant sounding #1s. The rest of his #1s are just 80s throwbacks and are his more successful singles thatβs why he just keeps doing them.

NPR posted Ed Sheeran's Tiny Desk (Home) Concert on YouTube. If interested, you would have to watch it there, since the embed has an issue.

Which is why I find it fishy that Stay remains this strong at this point in the run. If the GP was tired of this whole 80s thing, shouldnβt radio have dropped Stay before it dropped TMB? Or does the 80s thing only apply to Abel? That isnβt how things work. If people are tired of 80s from the Weeknd, it doesnβt mean theyβre tired of 80s period. Which means it's time for 90s throwbacks to become popular. Take it away, Bruno!

I listened to all of Ed's snippets. The only ones that stood out to me are 2step, Stop The Rain, & Be Right Now. the rest sound incredibly generic and dull

Remember when Bebe said she was gonna fight for her album after it debuted at like #140? I guess vanishing for months and coming back with a David Guetta feature (in 2021?) is exactly what she needs.

"Performing his #1 hit Fancy Like"... see, even Jimmy Fallon confirms this is going to #1. In the context of country, it is a #1 hit. Songs that hit #1 on country radio or the songs chart are considered #1 hits.

If "Levitating" reached #1 on Hot 100 yearend, is it considered a Hot 100 #1 song? Even all those songs that peaked #2 but topped the yearend in other years?

^And one of the songs in the Greatest of All-Time. Which proves, a song doesn't necessarily have to reach #1 in the Hot 100 to really have overall success. Remember Life Goes On or Trollz? I thought so ...

There were 2 year-end number ones that didn't reach #1 in the weekly chart... that happened in back to back years: 2000 Faith Hill "Breathe" 2001 Lifehouse "Hanging by a moment" Airplay was the dominant component of the Hot 100 back then, when single sales started to decline. They are still #2 songs though. You missed Wooly Bully by Sam Sham and the Pharaohs in 1965. That was the very first #2 hit to top a Billboard YE.

I canβt believe that ended up as a YE #1, in a year when some great and memorable songs missed the YE.

^And one of the songs in the Greatest of All-Time. Which proves, a song doesn't necessarily have to reach #1 in the Hot 100 to really have overall success. Remember Life Goes On or Trollz? I thought so ... Or the current #1 smash hit that everyone knows because it's topping the new social chart... "Permission to Dance". lmao. At least it doesn't impact the Hot 100 proper like Billboard's Japanese chart does.

I was told by someone here that it was definitely going #1, what happened? Don't celebrate too early. Walker Hayes still has some cards that are yet to be played, like iTunes discounting and putting out 8 versions like LNX did with IB. Is he performing on the CMAs? That could give it a sales boost, but by then it will have lost a lot at radio so it may not matter. Lol at him performing it on Fallom but not doing the dance that made it go viral.
