Can't say I'm shedding any tears. 94.7 kinda just sucks sucked... they had an unhealthy obsession with Jason Aldean, and even more of an allergy to female-led songs than the average country station already has. Hopefully a better station can serve the NYC area in the near future.

Their music was soooooooooo pitched. I once heard them play Faith Hill's "Piece Of My Heart" and I thought I was listening to Disney Radio - she sounded like a cartoon character. Another time they played Travis Tritt's "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" and I wondered if it is even humanly possible to speak or sing that fast! If NYC gets another country station, they will hopefully respect the music by playing at the right speed as it was recorded.

My local Audacy station does the same and it is annoying.

Looks like 94.7 did not completely abandon country. They now play country on its HD2 frequency. Does anyone even listen to HD radio stations? I have always wondered why radio stations bother with these. How do they earn money if they don't play commercials? And, you need a special radio to pick up the signal.

Almost 9 years seems like a long time for a Country station to survive in NYC. The audience for it here is not what it is in most of the rest of the country, and in 2021, if you're in NYC and want to listen to contemporary country hits, you can just stream playlists or Country stations located elsewhere.
