Dance in the Dark > Monster I think Dance In The Dark is the better song but I think Monster works better for Halloween, DITD could work as well though

At this point, I just might make the shift to Spotify and the Mediabase radio charts alone, especially with the 2021 tracking year winding down. If Billboard doesn’t want to be transparent about how they calculate their charts, I have no choice but to consult sources that actually will as long as they’re still around.

Hold up. Monster Mash is #1 on Spotify?! This is the first time a Halloween song has gotten to #1 on a streaming platform, right? Hell, I don't even recall Halloween songs ever hitting the top ten on a streaming platform before.

Hell, I don't even recall Halloween songs ever hitting the top ten on a streaming platform before. I think "Thriller" hit #1 on Apple Music yesterday, so they did it at the same time. "Thriller" reached No. 9 on Spotify last year, with 4 Ariana Grande songs ahead of it. In 2019, "Monster Mash" was #13 and "Thriller" was #15. So this isn't exactly out of the blue, it's been a long time coming.

That week, Butter was the biggest loser on radio and almost left the Top 100 on radio, while Stay was Top 5 on all 3 metrics.

I don't think anyone posted this yet but Adele's tracklist is out. There's a Target bonus with three songs including Adele doing Easy on Me with Chris Stapleton.

the way Good 4 U was robbed of its 10 weeks at #1 was disgusting It was robbed of 7 maybe 8, not 10. It would have not been an 11-week #1. Stay and/or IB would have been #1 past Week 10.

Iirc, Butter's first eight weeks + PTD would go to G4U, Butter's 9th to IB, and Butter's 10th + MU to Stay. Also IB's week would go to Stay.

If we go by the RS chart, G4u would have been #1 the first 7 weeks of Butter, but would have lost out to Stay on PTD’s week at #1 and Butter’s 8th week at #1. The races were close those weeks, and G4u had already fallen below 300 on Butter’s 8th week. I’ll be nice, though, and give you one of those weeks. That puts G4u at 9 weeks. G4u was done by Butter’s 9th week - IB and Stay were ahead at that point.

The point you were making was about the Hot 100 being manipulated, not the Hot 100 formula being wrong. On the July 24th chart (Permission to Dance's week at #1), Good 4 U was the #2, ahead of Stay's #3 debut. On the July 31st chart (where Butter returned for an 8th week atop), Good 4 U bulleted at #2 while Stay slid behind Levitating for the #4 spot. Thus it gets both of those weeks if mass sales are countered, not just 1, you're not the arbiter that gets to "be nice" because that's not how this line of discussion was framed.

At the end of the day these industry supported charts are made for industry people and it really seems like they're trying to make independent chart reporting and discussion as hard for people as possible. I'm sure it's for absolutely no shady reasons whatsoever tho! Blame no one but yourselves for that. When y'all began encouraging stans to game the charts, it was a wrap I am famously pro chart manipulation, they call me Chart Manipulator Kayla

I'm sure we will still see a fair bit of "chart manipulation" for the foreseeable future even despite AlphaData no longer being public. After all, artists' teams are still well within their right to release multiple versions and let audiences eat them all up, and I'm pretty sure that was happening well before Hot 100 predictors became a widespread thing.

All that matters is that in the end, you cannot change the fact that G4u was not #1 on either the Hot 100 or RS charts on the weeks of 7/24 and 7/31/2021.
