These two songs have a fair deal in common IMO. Both hit #1 in the same year (1987), both have some sort of spiritual element to the title, both have incredibly similar chorus melodies, both have key changes that start a bit earlier than expected, and both are, IMO, among the best hits of the decade. So, which song does Pulse think is the better one? Bring. It. On.

I've grown to absolutely loathe Bon Jovi over time. Feels like they are the Nickelback of the 80's.

The 80's were a pretty abysmal decade for rock IMO. And most of it simply doesn't hold up for me, including Bon Jovi. Gotta go with Belinda on this one.

I'm going with "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi, though "Heaven Is a Place on Earth" by Belinda Carlisle is also quite the classic. There's no losing for choosing here!

Voting for Livin' on a Prayer is a red flag I didn't vote for either of them, since I love both, but a vote for either song is well warranted in my eyes.

Living On A Prayer was and is overplayed and Bon Jovi has better songs like "You Give Love A Bad Name" which is their best one.
As cheesy as it is, Heaven Is A Place On Earth is better even thought it is overplayed on the local AC station.

Also, another good contender to go against Livin On A Prayer would be Here I Go Again which was another #1 Bon-Jovi esque hit

"Heaven Is the Place On Earth" DEFINES the 80s.
