About Damn Time is probably going to top both sales and radio. ADT came out wayyy too late to snatch Thay from Heatwaves or Stay at this point in the year.

Curious what y'all have for best and worst. for me: Best: "So casually cruel in the name of being honest" "OH NOOOOO" from Smokin Out The Window Dolores' entire verse from WDTAB. Best 2 seconds are "Do you understand" "It's thick thirty!" "A si es la vida si" from Bam Bam the cooing breakdown from Boyfriend "If you can't be next to me, your memory is ecstasy" (not a very good song, great line) the "drop" in Better Days first verse of She's All I Wanna Be, specifically "But I just got the feeling this will leave an ugly scar" first couple seconds of As It Was the blessed presence of Kate Bush in the top 10 Worst: "I'm just tryna keep my daughters off the pole" that weird falsetto thing from Get Into It "Everybody but your dog" (holy s**t this is the most punchable one of not just this year but the entire decade)

For me, the worst 2 seconds are a tossup between “Plus all my clothes would fit” from Boyfriend, and the moment Kodak Black decides to drop the R-slur on Super Gremlin.
OK, objectively, the latter is way worse, but the former completely ruins a perfectly serviceable chorus, and gives off the same vibe to me as the “BETTA DANNY CAN” part from Treat You Better.
Oh, and how could I forget literally any given moment from She Likes It, easily the worst song to chart this year that’s not from an album bomb

I guess this answers my question but, I don’t remember Big Energy topping the sales chart. Edit: Maybe this is a better indication.

The beat switch on Después de la Playa The last drum switch on Andrea by Bad Bunny The start of Ojitos Lindos "Push these bitches off me like HEUGH" The outro of I Like You (A Happier Song) All of the roasts and burns on MAMIII "Te felicito/qué bien actúas" "Así es la vida, baby" Running Up That Hill, any snippet of it Worst: a b c d e f U The instrumental on Sweetest Pie P power instrumental The hook on thought i was playing by Gunna... The beat on Currents by Drake "F*CK BET" (sadly)

gives off the same vibe to me as the “BETTA DANNY CAN” part from Treat You Better.Oh, and how could I forget literally any given moment from She Likes It, easily the worst song to chart this year that’s not from an album bomb At first I got Treat You Better vibes from Boyfriend but since then I've come around to appreciate the song sort of ironically, gives off creepy disney villain vibes & seems to be playing so over the top that it's more fun to not take it seriously. There also isn't anything infuriating like how Mendes talks about her "wasted crying" and frames the video as an abusive relationship to try & enhance his failed song which is so insensitive I can't get past it but with Dove here it's clearly way more lighthearted and not trying to unironically white knight. also spot on with the analysis of the abomination She Likes It, imagine trying to be Walker Hayes and failing

I thought Big Energy would be the biggest non-number 1 this year, but it'll actually be Stay since it didn't go to 1 this year.

I recently watched a country music critic’s video from this past February where he analyzed Walker Hayes’ appeal and dug deep into his catalog, and it was pretty enlightening. Even though I still don’t like his music much, I respect his perseverance in the country music industry and even some of the vulnerable moments that he’s had on a few of his songs over the years. The same cannot be said for Russell Dickerson, who outside of Home Sweet just straight-up sucks. He does not deserve for his worst single to date, IMO the most appeal-less non-political country song to chart on the Hot 100 since Meant To Be, to have a strong chance of becoming his biggest hit.

I can definitely respect that. Russell Dickerson's effort sounds like one of those hack efforts trying to be adjacent to a big star to capture some of that hit appeal, the way that so many country artists do with Morgan Wallen these days, and yeah, it comes off pretty badly to a lot of people.

^ looking at the streak list i wished The Weeknd had a YE song in 2019 which is the only year that he hasn’t had one since he blasted into the mainstream in 2015.

Apologies for this being extremely late.. I’m sure you all were eagerly anticipating my predictions this week, but life has been beating me down really hard. Anyways, this won’t stop me from not doing them in the future. I still plan on doing predictions for as long as I can.

According to the prediction above your post, it would require 18 weeks on the chart to do it. How likely do you think that is?

I don't think everyone has them clinching next week, but by that time they would have spent more than 25 weeks on the chart, albeit mostly in the lower ranks, so that is not exactly unreasonable when it comes to longevity, even in a year as weak as 2022.

But Flower Shops is great enough that I can overlook that. I'll be so happy if it makes it.

At least in my opinion there likely If we go based on the assumption they’ll get to 140,000 Here’s all the songs that have a chance of passing that What Happened To Virgil? Running Up That Hill Trouble With A Heartbreak Get Into It Moscow Mule In A Minute Take My Name Provenza Puffin On Zootiez Late Night Talking Damn Strait Despuses De La Playa Thousand Miles Party You Proof Something In The Orange 2Step Ojitos Lindos Cooped Up Efecto Jimmy’s Cooks Fall In Love I like You Glimpse Of Us Like I Love Country music Sunroof Break My Soul Sticky The kind of love we make She had me at heads Carolina Vegas That’s 31 songs right there Meaning we’d need 8 songs to clinch with less than 20 weeks assuming all of these make it

I'm not sure all of these will make it, but then you'll get songs like Bad Habit or I Ain't Worried that might possibly be hanging around too. We'll have to see how this chart year goes--not only how long that Circles Around This Town and Flower Shops hang around avoiding recurrency but also what other late blooming songs surge to the 140,000 threshold as well.
