For me, the worst 2 seconds are a tossup between “Plus all my clothes would fit” from Boyfriend, and the moment Kodak Black decides to drop the R-slur on Super Gremlin.

OK, objectively, the latter is way worse, but the former completely ruins a perfectly serviceable chorus, and gives off the same vibe to me as the “BETTA DANNY CAN” part from Treat You Better.

Oh, and how could I forget literally any given moment from She Likes It, easily the worst song to chart this year that’s not from an album bomb

At first I got Treat You Better vibes from Boyfriend but since then I've come around to appreciate the song sort of ironically, gives off creepy disney villain vibes & seems to be playing so over the top that it's more fun to not take it seriously. There also isn't anything infuriating like how Mendes talks about her "wasted crying" and frames the video as an abusive relationship to try & enhance his failed song which is so insensitive I can't get past it but with Dove here it's clearly way more lighthearted and not trying to unironically white knight.

I recently watched a country music critic’s video from this past February where he analyzed Walker Hayes’ appeal and dug deep into his catalog, and it was pretty enlightening. Even though I still don’t like his music much, I respect his perseverance in the country music industry and even some of the vulnerable moments that he’s had on a few of his songs over the years.

The same cannot be said for Russell Dickerson, who outside of Home Sweet just straight-up sucks. He does not deserve for his worst single to date, IMO the most appeal-less non-political country song to chart on the Hot 100 since Meant To Be, to have a strong chance of becoming his biggest hit.

I can definitely respect that.  Russell Dickerson's effort sounds like one of those hack efforts trying to be adjacent to a big star to capture some of that hit appeal, the way that so many country artists do with Morgan Wallen these days, and yeah, it comes off pretty badly to a lot of people.

Yep, that’s the one! He’s very solid at what he does, but I’d honestly put the Walker Hayes video among his absolute best.

I don't think everyone has them clinching next week, but by that time they would have spent more than 25 weeks on the chart, albeit mostly in the lower ranks, so that is not exactly unreasonable when it comes to longevity, even in a year as weak as 2022.

Normally not a fan of such low charting songs hanging around long enough to make year end lists, since they don't really feel big enough to be considered hits. But Flower Shops is great enough that I can overlook that. I'll be so happy if it makes it.
