^It managed to do so mostly because of its longevity helped by radio airplay. It did manage to peak at #1 at Radio Songs and Digital Song Sales for one week at each and #6 in Streaming Songs. The #3 peak it got was helped by Latto releasing her album and Mariah remix.

Going purely by sense of feel the top 10 biggest songs to me this year would be something like

1. As It Was
2. Heat Waves (unfortunately)
3. First Class

That's true however this year was an anomaly because we had a huge drought of new hits for the first four months, look back at the streaming chart (Spotify, AM) from January to April, aside from We Don't Talk About Bruno, it's filled with 2021 holdovers. Gunna had Pushin P but that didn't stick around, neither did any of the Dawn FM singles. That's why the Year-End chart is essentially 2021-part 2, because these old hits were able to stick around forever with virtually zero competition until Harry Styles dropped.

to be fair Every song below Rocking Arohnd The Christmas Tree Points Wise would of missed if they were 2021 songs. And Every song below Doin This would of missed 2020. As much as I can shit on radio it leads to higher cutoff dates

After the next two weeks, so many of this year’s biggest hits are gonna be gone. First Class. About Damn Time. Wait 4 U. The last two Bad Bunny songs. The Kind of Love We Make. Late Night Talking. All of them vulnerable to getting taken out. Given that these songs will be gone before Christmas, I imagine they won’t be coming back afterwards. 2023 is gonna have way, way fewer repeats. And it’s gonna be super interesting to see which songs fill in the gaps for the weeks between the album bombs and the Santa bomb. My guess is

"Unholy" barely missing out on the YE list seems so wrong. The chances of securing it may be slim though, since Week 52 is Taylor's aftermath and Drake/21 Savage's album bomb. The prediction error may help it barely clinch though.
