^ The 53-week scenario sees a 90-spot jump for "Anti-Hero" in its third week. Which makes it a weaker "Hello" in terms of both points and YE placement. Though if the 2022 YE remains a 52-week, it at least gives "Anti-Hero" a good start for the 2023 YE.

Also, only one YE predictions sees "Unholy" not in the YE Hot 100 list. Which makes it a good chance that it actually enters the list at all and a different song can be the main beneficiary of margin of error and sneak in the list (preferably be "Thinking 'Bout You" if I were being perfectly honest)

If my estimations are correct, then should Billboard make this a 53 week year, Anti-Hero will pull a mini-Hello and easily secure a year end spot. My current estimation is 161k, which would be just behind Unholy and place it in the 70s. Notably, it has garnered more points in 3 weeks than All Too Well did in its entire run.

To be clear, Billboard won’t make this a 53 week year. They wouldn’t have changed the formula last week specifically if that wasn’t the start of a new year. Also, their pattern has been to publish the YEs on the first Thursday of December and cut off the tracking year three weeks prior. Which means 2023 will likely be their 53 week year (unless they publish on Friday the 1st next year, in which case it’ll be 2024 at the latest). But still, I figured I’d point out the missed opportunity for something cool to happen.

2011 was interesting because a lot of us thought until summer that E.T. would probably be the #1. We didn't have people actually trying to calculate them back then. By the end of the year it was obvious that Rolling In The Deep and Party Rock Anthem would be ahead but I was quite shocked that Firework beat it. And everybody did know that November was the cut off.

Probably? Assuming they keep to their schedule of releasing 3 weeks after the year has finished since 2019.

If not this Thursday, then I’d think it would come sometime between Tuesday the 6th and Thursday the 8th (as Friday is global release day/start of the weekend, and Monday is Hot 100 reveal day), but I think Billboard is eager to get their lists out there sooner rather than later.

I’ve been thinking. While the overall charts for most of this year was a static mess and boring, there were actually a really good number of artists who had dropped music. This is probably the most entertaining year so far in this decade in terms of albums and comeback single releases, even if for the most part that it really didn’t translate onto the charts. The Hip Hop scene had definitely seen some consistency as there were releases from fairly well known artists nearly every month. I guess we just have to hope that 2023 can give us some really consistent and interesting chart weeks.

I get the feeling the fact that most of this year’s hits were atleast decent and I actually liked the many album bombs unleashed on the charts are the reasons I didn’t hate this year more. I’ll say this, I doubt most of us hate this year as much as the people on Billboard Breakdown’s comment sections seem to.
