Why do people hate To The Moon so much? It’s a nice catchy song. I don't hate it really, I feel like it made a great sampling of an underrated ballad that is "Talking to the Moon" by Bruno Mars' and ended up being a calm song to listen at

I didn’t follow the Hot 100 very closely this year, but Betty missing feels weird with how much I heard that song.

Correction: I got 61 songs correct, not 63. A miscount on my part.😅

I wanted to be surprised by the year-end. So, I try staying away from this thread so it doesn't get spoiled.
With not that much success.
In 2020, 2021, and 2022, I remember seeing The Box at #3 (behind Circles at #2 and Blinding Lights at #1), Levitating at #1, and Heat Waves at #1 (wasn't sure if that was going to hold up), respectively.
I also saw another user predict the 2016 year-end, and correctly saying the #1 hit would be Love Yourself, which is something I would not have expected.

I wish Billboard would bring back the separate chart for Christmas songs.

I never look at these threads b/c I keep the YE charts 100% a surprise, & around this time of year I always make my OWN blind prediction by intuition & comparing chart positions of songs around the start of each month. These predictions are usually really off, but it's just for fun. I decided to be brave & post my YE top 25 prediction no matter how wrong it is. I won't be coming back to this thread until the YE chart is out & I'm not looking at anyone else's predictions. In parentheses I'll explain some of my logic for anyone curious 1. As It Was (basically #1 for half the year I mean c'mon) 2. Heat Waves (probably super close b/c this has been here the whole year) 3. Stay (same situation as Heat Waves just lower) 4. We DTA Bruno (a Harlem Shake situation, massive #1 for a while at the start of the year, then falls off hard) 5. About Dang Time 6. First Class 7. Easy On Me (there's always a trend of the big early chart year #1 being 7th or 8th for some reason) 8. Wait For U 9. Super Gremlin 10. Bad Habit (very strong #1s starting around Sep can usually clutch top 10) 11. I Like You 12. Running Up That Hill 13. ABCDEFU 14. Shivers 15. Bad Habits (this outperformed Shivers in the summer, crazy!) 16. Ghost 17. Me Porto Bonito 18. Big Energy 19. Break My Soul 20. Wasted On You 21. Sunroof 22. Cold Heart 23. Levitating 24. Save Your Tears (this had an almost identical run to Levitating this year just usually a bit lower) 25. Super Freaky Girl laughably wrong as usual, but always fun to do it this way + interesting to compare. I always overestimate the power of the late year hits. I did have a few bullseyes tho!: Stay at #3, First Class at #6, and Super Gremlin at #9. Anyway I intend to keep doing this for every year to come! As for the real chart, my choice for "c'mon, it was bigger than that!" obviously goes to Bruno. My "c'mon, it wasn't that big!" goes to Shivers

I wish Billboard would bring back the separate chart for Christmas songs. well they REALLY shouldn't be allowing them on the YE Hot 100. It's very concerning imagining what future YEs could look like. If they don't exclude them from future YEs (it's Billboard, they probably won't), we might as well start depending on the fanmade predictions to determine what the "real" chart would be

The Billboard Hot 100 YE if it used Inverse Points to calculate the placements. Basically, it eliminated the 4 Christmas songs, 3 below Top 50 peaking Country songs, 2 #1's, and To The Moon.
I kinda dig this version because of having "Glimpse of Us" inside Top 50, and some deserving songs that missed the official list being here (e.g. the Charlie Puth songs especially "Left and Right", The Family Madrigal, Betty, and of course "Thinking 'Bout You")

Also having the inverse point year-end have Ghost at #3 feels so weird and surreal to me.

If you notice, Super Freaky Girl has made the year-end, but not Super Freak by Rick James.
Not to mention U Can't Touch This did so in 1990. At #55.
One higher than SFG, despite peaking at #8 and spending 17 weeks on the chart! That'd be less of a surprise if it peaked at #2!

As for the real chart, my choice for "c'mon, it was bigger than that!" obviously goes to Bruno. I think in 2023, I'm already giving that to Merry Christmas by Ed Sheeran and Elton John. I've already heard this song so much this holiday season. And it's not even back in the Hot 100? Not to mention Elton John having been very capable of making a Christmas song in the 20th century!

^I don't think it will re-enter the Hot 100, given it was #98 on Holiday Songs last week. It already seems to be an instant holiday classic in the UK, ranking as third highest charting holiday song currently in the Official Singles chart, behind AIWFCIY and Last Christmas, after spending three non-consecutive weeks at #1 last year.

Where's Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas?
The number one. Song. Of the 1980s.

Heres one worth noting in regards to the Billboard Hot 100 YE of 2021 and 2022 if it is based from Inverse Points:
Walker Hayes' "Fancy Like" is at the exact same position in those two YE lists (#31)

I just briefly watched a video of the year-end of 2020. I take back most of what I said about this year. It might've been boring but holy crap it wasn't as painful as remembering some of the hits of 2020.

In the decade-end, things will be even worse when they top the 2020s decade-end, even though they are not from the 2020s! Not even 2019!
Not to mention Mariah Carey would have three decade-end hits, assuming it's AIFWCIY.
In 2010, she put out Oh Santa!, which charted for only one week at #100. I'm surprised this remains its only appearance on the Hot 100 to date.
