I may have slandered this song during the album’s first rankdown…I was a clown for doing so because this song has grown on me dramatically since then. I still don’t revisit it often though…

I knew “peace” was be out pretty early and have made peace that it always would be, but I think it’s such a beautiful addition to the album(s). It’s not something I seek out on its own but folklore would feel incomplete without it.
“Coney Island” has grown on me but it isn’t as essential as many of the other songs.

 edit: forgot to mention this when it was revealed but this sums up my thoughts on "happiness" pretty well she rhymes "you" with "you" and says "happiness" three times in a 12-word chorus. some of the most uninspired penmanship of her career. |

ps: So yeah this reminds me of 2020 cause 2020 was the last time I played it  Honestly, I think this song features Taylor's worst vocal performance on a song since the (old version of the) Fearless album. [EDIT]I forgot about the existence of "Welcome To New York". So yeah, worst vocal performance since that song. I actually really like Taylor's vocal performance in this and "Welcome to New York." I guess I can understand why some people think some of the lines to the latter are a bit forced in, but it's a cute inoffensive bop IMO. |

I'm sorry but while I appreciate the sentiment of epiphany, it's just such a slog of a song to go through for me. The only time I listen to it was when I listen to the album as a whole and even then I skipped it from time to time

PS. we’ve been using metaphors throughout this rankdown to describe the “forest of this music,” as Taylor put it in the evermore prologue…but lately I’ve actually been thinking…what if this was truly a place? With so many mystical, magical things to explore? So many more stories could be told, and who knows, maybe Taylor will tell some eventually. But what if this place had its dark secrets too? Or what if some other beings wanted to control this place?
Basically what if I wrote books about “the folklorian woods” lol
