Will "Rockin" reach number one? Considering it and the other Xmas songs will only have 3 days at most with massive streaming, not happening.

Christmas isn’t cancelled still not breaking into the top 200 of streaming shows the song just didn’t land. Hopefully next year Kelly promotes SCYHM which is already a top 40 hit in the UK

Santa Tell Me is down almost 1M streams compared to 2020, is it not so prominently featured on the big playlists this year?

So I’m seeing that Griff has a Christmas song charting near the top 50 on AM - can we make her a thing in the US in the future? I liked the couple of original songs she’s charted in the UK over the past year.

Also Germany is again going fully nuts, 25 songs over 1M streams, up from 19 last year. Last Christmas is on top with almost 3M

Having Ariana perform it on her talk show. A full blitz

yeah if what I said last year holds up, more people are gathering this year and seeing family and friends, meaning less individual Spotify users are on aux for the holidays. that's my hypothesis anyway.

she's low-key become the modern queen of christmas.
"Santa Tell Me," "Last Christmas," and "Santa Baby" are all recurring classics, and her "Oh Santa!" collaboration from last year also makes a comeback this year in the Spotify US charts. her latest with Kelly Clarkson, "Santa Can't You Hear Me" is also charting. 5 songs puts her in a tie with Doja Cat for most songs charting yesterday among women, I believe. and that horrid "Masked Christmas" song with Jimmy Fallon and Megan Thee Stallion reached Top 40 on Pop Radio.
also it's extremely impressive that Doja Cat is still charting 5 songs off of Planet Her in the Top 200 on Spotify. SOUR is down to 4 songs, MONTERO and Certified Lover Boy each have 3, and Adele's 30 has only 2 left charting, much like Ed Sheeran's =. when I say Planet Her is the AOTY I mean it.

Get Into It is the only non-single here, but it is/was huge on TikTok. I LOVE Planet Her, but I think Sour will always be THE album of 2021, and 5,5 billion streams in 7 months basically confirms it.

Get Into It is the only non-single here, but it is/was huge on TikTok. I LOVE Planet Her, but I think Sour will always be THE album of 2021, and 5,5 billion streams in 7 months basically confirms it. To me, it speaks volumes that Doja's only official pre-album single there is "Kiss Me More." "You Right" became the second single along with the album, and "Need To Know" and "Woman" only became singles after they performed greatly on their own (and "Get Into It" might join them soon, I bet). On the contrary, MONTERO and SOUR mainly have their pre-album singles charting (most of which hit #1—so that's their leg up on Doja Cat), spanning 5-6 months of single promo leading up to the albums, aside from "traitor" and "That's What I Want," of course. I am a huge fan of all three projects— Planet Her is my #1 most-played album of the year, whereas SOUR finishes at #3 and MONTERO at #6. I just think Planet Her has the better reach across demographics and longer-lasting hit singles that just seem to be sticking around with little effort. Between these three albums, "Kiss Me More" and "Need To Know" are on pace to become the longest-charting hits. Doja's charted on the Hot 100 with "Need To Know," "Woman," "Get Into It," and "Ain't Shit" simultaneously for quite a while throughout the summer and early fall despite none of them being "singles" at that point. Kind of like how "traitor" and a couple of other album tracks from SOUR did—but those album tracks have been pushed off due to Christmas, which is the point I was making essentially. To me, SOUR is the Breakthrough of the Year while Planet Her is the Album of the Year. I make that distinction so that I have more love to give, basically, and not as an insult to Olivia's accomplishments.

MONTERO is my AOTY. Tales Of Dominica is a masterpiece that'll probably go under the radar forever (much like a certain Dreamworks movie I'm passionate about)

Internet's not very good here (and even if it was, not in the mood to do 90 minutes of work on my vacation) but I can give brief reports:
Only 36 non Christmas songs are in the Top 200 of Spotify, only 2 in the Top 100 Top 10 without the Holiday Songs: 1. INDUSTRY BABY (this is all the way down at #78) 2. Super Gremlin 3. Broadway Girls 4. STAY 5. Heat Waves 6. abcdefu 7. Easy On Me 8. Enemy 9. Knife Talk 10. I Hate U

Before anyone comes to post the Kworb radio update; as of this post Mediabase hasn't updated yet today, which means neither has AllAccess (and thus Kworb's update, which is sourced from AllAccess, is wrong).

Excellent point. The same number of ppl may hear a song, but because more ppl are listening to a single device when in groups, the raw number of streams is lower. Considering TSA numbers on 12/23 + 12/24 were nearly triple from 2020, it’s a safe bet ppl are gathering with family again.

Can't wait for all most of the Christmas songs to be Thanos-snapped from the Spotify, iTunes and AM charts tomorrow.

Will "Rockin" reach number one? No I wouldn't be so sure. Rockin has particularly dominated on Spotify this year. It has been #1 there for like 2 weeks, right? That's new. It has managed a few days at #1 here and there in the past, but it's never held it for such a long streak like this before. Obviously Spotify is one small sliver of the pumpkin pie, but I do personally see it as an indicator that AIWFCIY isn't always guaranteed to be #1 every Christmas. With virtually no effort, RATCT won Spotify this year. Who's to say eventually it won't do the same on enough of the other platforms to finally reach #1 overall? The only real challenge is airplay, as Brenda lacks that pop airplay appeal that Mariah has.

If you look at the charts all around the world, you will see that AIWFCIY isn’t as strong in 2021 as it was in 2019 and 2020. On the ARIA chart, AIWFCIY failed to top the charts for the first time in 4 years. On the U.K. charts, it wasn’t even the highest charting Christmas classic (it charted behind Last Christmas).

It's clear Spotify playlists favor older holiday songs as they surge as we near Christmas each year, and the newer songs fall behind. I don't know how much of playlist placement is Spotify and how much of that is label/team work. FYI the airplay lead "AIWFCIY" has is only worth about 1 million streams, so it isn't that big of an advantage.
