70. girl in red - Serotonin
Nothing much to add but those unGodly sounds. Sounds like they are amplifying the torture of instruments.
69. SHAED - No Other Way
As far as female indiepop goes this isn't bad at all. It's simple as toast, but it is also pretty catchy, and yes it's no secret I charted this too.
68. Glass Animals - Heat Waves
taken from George Romero's zombie classic "here's One more the fire". Talk about a nice split. We must all have reasons for hating this travesty. I hope this trend of unGodly sound effix ends soon.
67. Fousheé - deep end
Sadly I had to tank a lot of female vocals this year. She plays guitar, but Hi-hats that sound like annoying clicks didn't help.
66. DREAMERS & DeathbyRomy - True Crime
Never thought I would be the one to give this jam the highest rank, but you know what. Real instruments and vocals do wonders to a song. The goth chick kinda has those tones you would expect a Kardashian to have, but they work for the song. I also like that eerie like circus music vibe or whatever they were going for.
65. DREAMERS, Big Boi & UPSAHL - Palm Reader
Uneeded cameos in this one. I probably would have liked it way more if it was just the band.
64. Tessa Violet & lovelytheband - Games
Not terrible just nothing I need to return to anytime soon
63. Machine Gun Kelly & blackbear - my ex's best friend
Two songs and my tank is clear. It pisses me off something fierce when this guy tries to sneak in a rock into a rap song. This was another unlistenable song because of blackbear.
62. Rise Against - Nowhere Generation
The song was decent, but I give it five stars for the use of actual instruments and vocals. We gotta salvage these sounds while they are still around. #SAVE ALTERNATIVE ROCK.
61. Coldplay - Higher Power
Another one of those songs I upgraded because I actually charted. It's nice and aesthetic, but after a few listens all I hear in my head is safe sounding 80's wanna be retro. Also I read this band sent this song to outer space to try and reach E.T.'s or some thing like that. WTF was that all about?
60. Foo Fighters - Shame Shame
I ended up overhating this when it first came out. Heard it once and dumped it. After a few listens it isn't too bad, but still the weakest of the three. Actually it was an interview with Joe Elliott and Dave Grohl where Joe said this was one of the Foo Fighters best in years that got me to give it a few more listens. Not their best , but proper Alterntive rock. I hope this doesn't mean a Foos purge is right around the corner?
59. Black Pistol Fire - Look Alive
This was alright. Made my top 40 for obvious reasons, but it could use a lot more bang.
58. Green Day - Pollyanna
Solid Green Day song. catchy little spark of fire, but still didn't make my top 10. I hope we are not experiencing an Alternative rock purge.
57. Foo Fighters - Waiting on a War
This was alright. A mellow Alt rock jam. Not one of their best, but I really didn't have much to play with this year. One more appearance from this band and I'm gonna feel you all f u c k ing me on purpose.
56. KennyHoopla & Travis Barker - hollywood sucks//
In this day and age of the fall of alt I'll take anything that sounds like blink 182.
EXTRAS:
Don't Freak Out - LILHUDDY f/ iann dior, Tyson Ritter & Travis Barker
Cameo parade riding on an ear wreckage combo of sounds. completely ABYSMAL.
The Mission - Bakar
I don't like this guy' vocals tones one bit. Sounds like he should be riding on rap songs.
Be Sweet - Japanese Breakfast
FU C KIN G indiepop classic right here. See this is how indiebop chicks should sing. I doubt many would slot this higher than me?
Crash and Burn - Maggie Lindemann
Damn! I obviously slept on this one. This reminds me of early 2008's Demi Lovato. You guys gotta remind me to chart jams like this. Easy top 15 for me.
Truth - Jungle
This are the type of songs we should be ranking not the crap on last year's list.
the angel of 8th ave. - Gang of Youths
Another of my favorite radio songs of the year. This and "Be Sweet" would have made my top 10. Probably would have pushed out The Offspring too.
Runaway - AURORA
Not too terrible, but I really can't really get into this style.
Bottle Rocket - Briston Maroney
Another cool Alternative Rock song I wouldn't have mind ranking.
