10. Clairo - Sofia
Female vocals that are not (you know who) should fair much better on my lists. Sorry no too familiar with this artist but this is aesthetic and pleasant. I guess you all really dug this one.

9. Dayglow - Close to You
very few Indiepop songs now a days that sound this 80's. You gotta grab them and chart them while they are still around. Pretty much what I consider a synthpop masterpiece.

8. Black Pumas - Colors
Forgot about this song and that I slotted it top 50, but I can hear why I did that. Blows half of the garbage on this list away.

7. Cannons - Bad Dream
I probably will be paying more attention to the Alt songs charting in 2022. I didn't recall this Retro Synthwave wonderjam, but it sure sounded great during the previews. I think this one is better than the other one, because it features a synthesizer solo. BTW I've been charting these retrowave jams for years now. DWN TWN, Ice Choir, LGHTNNG.. It's about time American ALt caught on.

6. Royal Blood - Typhoons
Effortlessly make my top 10. F U C K yeah! TYPHOOOOOOOOOONS indeed. Scream it or GTFO. This jam is now tied with "I Only Lie When I Love You" as favorite from the band

5. WILLOW f/ Travis Barker - t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l
Damn top half and I'm still one of the lowest ranks. Great melody. I enjoy the parts where she screams more than her normal vocals, but I don't think she is ready to shatter glass with her screams. call me back when she does.

4.Cannons - Fire for You
This one is good too. That music arrangement reminds me of either Kenny Loggins "This Is It" or Kool & The Gang "Too Hot". You know it's true.

3. Phoebe Bridgers - Kyoto
The little song that could. Melodic little ride that's becomes more melodic with her air surfing in the video.


The bottom 5 ranks for some of these melodic wonders astounds me. 

2. The Strokes - The Adults Are Talking
Loved this one mainly because it sounded like The Strokes part 8. You don't need to fix what is not broken.

1. Manchester Orchestra - Bed Head
The one song in my top 10 that I didn't even chart, but rest assure that I didn't get payola to put it in there. I mentioned quite a few times how much I enjoyed this song. It's really good real song with real instruments and vocals. Perfect for the Alternative chart. probably should have charted it too, but my personal charts where packed with too many 80's icons and songs that sounded like "Photograph" for that to happen. Great to see we as a whole picked a proper song to crown.

"Kyoto" not winning was a shocker, and "Bed Head" winning over "The Adults Are Talking" was another twist too but I guess that's what happens when taste is lacking. I love "Bed Head" as well (I mean I ranked it at #5) so I'm happy with the winner. "Bed Head" was a slow burn for me, but I never got tired of it unlike some other songs here which helped push it up my ranks.

I had Strokes rated higher as an individual song, but Bed Head is a fantastic winner (still in my top 10). And Million Masks of God was one of my favorite albums of 2021, too.

10. Sofia - Nice enough song, though I'd prefer other songs in the top 10.
9. Close to You - Fun song, glad it did better here than on radio.
8. Colors - Also cool to see this top 10.
7. Bad Dream and 4. Fire for You - Cannons are one of the best newcomers on alternative recently and I'm glad they are achieving great success here both on radio and this rankdown. Love the chill vibe of both songs.
6. Typhoons - Great rocker, barely missed my top 10. OOTB is still better though, so this isn't my fav from them still.
5. t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l - A bit overrated but still a great song and I can see the appeal.
4. Fire for You - See above
3. Kyoto - Kinda suspected this wouldn't be #1 given Az tanked it in AAA and here as well, coupled with more submissions. One of my favorite songs of recent, so I would be lying if I didn't do the right thing and put it at #1 to be true to myself.
2. The Adults Are Talking - 91x's Top Song of 2021 also does really well here (props to them!), and deservedly so. Catchy guitar riff, and the final two minutes of the song are gold. Cool to see The Strokes include new wave into their usual sound to great results.
1. Bed Head - I thought some tankers would keep this from even going the top 10, so it was a pleasant surprise that this did well enough to go #1. Great bridge, great song, and I'm glad they finally got the #1.
