What a weird ass song to have four bottom 20s.
Everything else in this top ten is pretty expected, but wow @ "Colors" making the top ten.

Still trying to understand what apparently makes "transparent soul" significantly better than the other pop-punk songs, but otherwise this top 10 is good, if mostly unsurprising

Well, so much for being present for all the reveals... Lol at "Is It True?" finishing that high. For a song so groove-focused, you would think it should make me move a single muscle, but no. I'm not surprised by the 2 top 10s I lost. If you don't like twee-pop (I don't know why you wouldn't but) "Cloud 9" certainly isn't the song for you, and people are going to judge Halsey by her past failures no matter how much she distances herself from them. You might say I'm a big fan of this top 10 considering I have the second-best average rankings left Nothing about these results have changed my expectation that "Kyoto" will win.

55: Saturday - Not bad, but a bit generic 54: Therefore I Am - I do like this one more compared to when I first heard it, but likewise with Saturday. 53: We Are Between - ... we're gonna continue the running theme of autogenerated songs by artists lol 52: Sticky - This was fun, should've been top 50. 51: seaside_demo - Chill song. 50: Once in a Lifetime - Better than Monsters, I'll give it that. 49: All My Favorite Songs - Nice orchestral instrumentation. Landed about where it should. 48: Must Stop - Also a good indie bop, though I have to say this is one of the instances where the clean version is better. 47: 1 Last Cigarette - This grew on me enough to put top 40, another fun tune. 46, 44, 43, 39, 36: Mood, What You Say, Stop Making This Hurt, Wrecked and I Wanna Be Your Slave - These 5 songs are all songs I enjoyed more initially, but eventually got tired of/grew off me. Wrecked is ID's best song since maybe Whatever It Takes, but top 40, really? I did like Stop Making This Hurt more again after its run, though. 45: broken people - Barely missed my top 50, good song though. 44: What You Say - See above. I said this was their best single since First, but man am I so tired of this now. 43: Stop Making This Hurt - See above. 42: buzz cut - Their best single. Even if it's still 37 on my list, it's a step in the right direction. 41. 1st Time - Not as good as Hell n Back, but still pretty good 40: Making a Fire - The best single this era that charted on alt. Obviously still not as good as their classics, but still a great song. 39: Wrecked - See above. 38: Mariposa - Pretty chill tune. May have underranked this one, but it landed where it should. 37: Skin and Bones - Another autogenerated Cage tune. A good song, but it should not have made the top 50. The low SD probably helped it. 36: I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE - See above. 35: He Said She Said - The worst song on an otherwise great album. Not bad, but they're capable of much better. 34: All About You - Better than Ride or Die. 33: Crawling Kingsnake - Nice to see some blues rock on here, even if both this and PBALWFH aren't the best things they've done. 32: New Invention - I loved Choke and LMA, but can't seem to get into this as much as either. 31: Distorted Light Beam - Much better than Survivin'. No Bad Days on the other hand... (haven't heard Shut Off the Lights yet) 30: Solar Power - Also barely missing my top 50. A nice tune that gets better in the second half (and what makes the song), but this is still nowhere near good of a song as say, Perfect Places or Team. 29: Cyr - This grew off me as well. Not a bad song, but for their standards, this was pretty forgettable. 28: Wait a Minute My Girl - The first time I heard this I was like this was exactly like Die to Live (their last rock #1 before this), but it really grew on me after that. I thank the saxophone. Anyway, just a fun tune. 27: Your Power - And there goes my last bottom 50. This is my 2nd least favorite Eilish single, only behind Lost Cause. I like the lyrics to this song, but the music is soooo slow. Weird because I've liked other slow songs before. I know Eilish has a huge fanbase, and I really want to like this song more, but this doesn't go beyond decent to me, sorry. I appreciate this more than I like it. Let Me Love You Like a Woman is an even worse version of this song style, so hopefully it doesn't get the free pass on AAA. 26: Any Way You Wanna Love - Meg never disappoints. 25: Estella - Better than Hollywood Sucks. 24: Freaks - Cool to see a song of this style do so well on alt. 23: Every Window is a Mirror - This song did even worse than their other singles on alt, which may or may not have to do with the Audacy consolidation. It's also their worst performing single here since way back in 2017. But it should have done better than Half Your Age at least. 22: NDA - Now this is more of the Billie I like. My 2nd favorite single this era only behind My Future. 21: The Bandit - Good KOL tune, liking the post punk revival sound of this. 20: Stargazing - My favorite song of theirs. Yes, this is better than Sweater Weather, better than Afraid, and better than their other charters in my books. I wish it made the top 10 here, and it should have been higher than... 19: Is It True - ...the autogenerated Tame Impala tune which is good but among their weaker songs. That's saying something considering I still had it top 25. 18: Hush - Another grower, I like this one a lot too. 17: Cloud 9 - Should've smashed on alt, but no, gotta give the airplay to AJR, Nessa Barrett and Kid LAROI 16: Shy Away - Their best single since Holding on to You. 15: Kilby Girl - I do like the song enough and it's great but I also don't like get the passion others have for this. 14: Trouble's Coming - I've always liked this, landed where it should. 13: Look at the Sky - Beautiful song. Kinda surprised it missed the top 10. 12: You Asked for This - Much much better than Halsey's other songs I've heard, though Colors is still good. 11: Leave Me Alone - Thought this would be top 10, sadly it wasn't the case.
Extras:
Would have loved to rank Oh!, Pay Your Way in Pain, Hold Me Down, Self Destructor (it's on active so not much sleep lost), Culture Wars and Blunt Force Concussion.
La La La, Hot Girl Bummer and Greatest Enemy are all trash.
Top 10: Main surprise is Colors making the top 10 over Leave Me Alone. I can see Kyoto or either Cannons song winning, since we know Az tanked Kyoto and it's most probably his 97.

25. KennyHoopla & Travis Barker - estella//Oddly enough this jam just missed my own top 100 of 2021, but easily grabs a slot in my top 20 among this list of songs. One of the best Poppunk revivals songs of 2021. I kinda wish the songs were a tad longer to give it a more complete feel. I also wish they didn't end so abruptly, but if I'm gonna dig anything from this list they are always gonna be the songs that sound like this. 24. Surf Curse - FreaksThis sounded a lot better than I first gave it credit for. It's definitely fast and melodic. I just wish it had played a little more with variety in the melody. It is basically the same guitar chords all the way through. 23. Joywave - Every Window Is a MirrorThis is me putting a song in my top 20 that I think I only heard about 3x last year. Sounds great. Sounds like what I want my Alternative rock music to sound like like when it charts on an Alternative rock chart. Anyway I'm definitely giving "Cyn City 2000" an early push on my charts. 22. Billie Eilish - NDAAnd there it is. "NDA" (Not Doing Anything) for me. At least I cleared my tank before the top 20. never said I wanted Billie to rock out. I said I wanted her to actually want to push her words out of her mouth. Once again here she is barely uttering the words. The reason I can't stand her to begin with. Like someone mentioned it probably due to the themes of her songs. idk.. maybe is she sang about partying or her high school crush she would sing different. I doubt it would make much of a difference to me either way? Anyway it's more than obvious she is not trying to be melodic or win with the aesthetic, and upbeat crowd at all so honestly I have no use for this song. 21. Kings of Leon - The BanditThis loss here leaves me very disappointed with this crowd and with four top 10's left? Why people why? This is one of the best Alternative Rock songs of the year. 20. The Neighbourhood - StargazingThis band has come a long way since "Sweater Weather". Still my favorite from this band. This song here is good. Sounds like a GODsend among this list of songs and I probably should have charted it too. 19. Tame Impala - Is It TrueThis is a cool little groove. They kinda sound like Mexican indierock band Zoe, but not as enticing to me.. It's obvious this band isn't gonna return to that sound they had on "Lonerism". People can say it's progression, growing, whatever. To me it is a bit of a regression if your best work is behind you. Ironically my favorite song from them is the classic "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards".18. The Marías - HushWhao was not expecting this song to soar this high. You all love this. I gave this a top half and it looks like one of the lowest slots. I think it is a decent song for the Alt chart. I guess I mentioned that it sounds better to me at higher BPMs. I also don't particularly find any use the the male vocals. 17. Beach Bunny - Cloud 9The good thing here is more love for female vocals. I'm all for a female extravaganza in the top 20. Not bad for breakout single. 16. twenty one pilots - Shy AwayThis song got old for me real quick. I don't think "jon" pilots has the vocal tones for this upbeat a song, but I can't deny that this is one of their best, because it is melodic and upbeat. I can count five songs I enjoy from this band, and this would be one of those. 15. The Backseat Lovers - Kilby GirlAnother one of these songs I can attest to hearing about two times in 2021 and yet it makes my top 40 almost effortlessly. 14. Royal Blood - Trouble's ComingTook me while to warm up to their new Poppier sound. This one is fun., and performed decently on my charts, but it was "Typhoons" that got me screaming. Hey, at least they kept their real instruments. 13. Porter Robinson - Look at the SkyThe pros: It's melodic, catchy, and a bit aesthetic. The cons: the melody is a bit silly, the vocals are a bit exxify and where they hell did this song come from? The songs you all upgrade challenge my definition of Rock music. 12. Halsey - You asked for thisAnother song I previewed once and forgot about it. I probably should have charted this one. Can't remember her rocking out before. At least the high slots came when they counted. 11. I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME - Leave Me AloneI DONT KNOW HOW BUT "I LOST ANOTHER TOP 5" before we hit the top 10. Only on a PULSE Rock RD. Anyway I recall this one more from late 2020. That's when I charted it. Too tired to preview EXTRAS, but a couple of those are salvageable. The Top 10: 5 out these ten feature chicks and I still have three of my own top 10's present so it's not too terrible. On a side note I already forgot what the "Colors" song is. but it's probably my lowest rank remaining so not too big of a deal there. Black Pumas - Colors Cannons - Bad Dream Cannons - Fire for You Clairo - Sofia Dayglow - Close to You Manchester Orchestra - Bed Head Phoebe Bridgers - Kyoto Royal Blood - Typhoons The Strokes - The Adults Are Talking WILLOW f/ Travis Barker - t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l

#25. Bah more Travis Barker, shoo! #24. I think I can appreciate the fact that a garage rock song went viral and is still one of the top streamed songs in the U.S. more than I enjoy the song but it's not a bad song #23. Don't have much to say, it's fine. #22. This has cooled on me since it first came out if I'm being honest but it's still pretty good. Just not one of my favorite Billie singles. #21. Fucking finally this went out. Sorry, I don't get the appeal of this song at all, this was fucking boring. #20. And speaking of bands I don't the appeal of... #19. Meh, Tame Impala have done much better before. #18. I actually grew to get the appeal of The Marias but yeah, still don't like Hush. There album was a nice surprise though, nice dream pop. Hope those songs become singles now. #17. Can we please make Beach Bunny a mainstay on alt?? ?? ? ? #16. Still don't like Scaled and Icy AT ALL but at least the singles were the best songs on the album. #15. This was a really great discovery, solid classic sounding rock song. #14. Meh, Muse-lite might be slightly more tolerable than what Muse has been doing lately but still not something I enjoy. #13. YOU. MOTHER. FUCKERS!!! #12. Halsey kicks ass #11. Yeah still don't get why IDKHOW has a following.
