70: Leave Virginia Alone - Not bad, but not something I would willigly chart. 69: Shaken - Better than All My Friends, but something still feels a bit missing from the best Revivalists singles. 68: Heading South - Good song, but the overplay at one of the stations I follow has made this shrink on me a bit. Thought it would be a bit higher though. 67: Waiting on a War - I still like this but Foo Fighters aren't really an AAA band compared to rock or alt so no big deal 66: Survivor - Now this deserved better. I thought this was a winner for this artist, and the horns liven this song up with a killer chorus. 65: All My Favorite Songs - Good song that got in an unlucky list. 64: Wrecked - ID are still not AAA but this was one of their better offerings 63: Stop Making This Hurt - Like Heading South I got tired of this but it grew back on me at least 62: hold yourself - Deserved better like Survivor. How is this below Skin and Bones? 61: Worry with You - See AMFS. 60: Ghosts - Nice to see Springsteen lively again like his last single. 59: FREEDOM - "I DON'T KNOW WHY-"
But. I like Batiste's swagger and charisma. CRY should've been a single. 58: Poor Boy a Long Way from Home - Cool guitar work on this one. I wish this one was more memorable but it's cool to see Dan and Patrick go bluesy this era, even if the songs were covers. 57: Making a Fire - I wonder what would happen if we all ranked the Mark Ronson version instead, seeing some stations only played that. 56: What You Say - I'm even more tired on this one than Heading South and Bleachers but I'm still glad CWK did so well on the alt radio chart with what I still feel is their best single in years. Miracle Mile and Dry should've done better in our rankdowns. 55: I NEED YOU - I've always liked this one. Again, Batiste plays this style well. 54: Last Train Home - Good, not great. Wild Blue may be a bit higher on my list. 53: Chinatown - This is probably my favorite Bleachers song. I just like this vibe better than their other songs. 52: Skin and Bones - Finally. Not bad, but an extremely safe choice for both the band and for radio. 51: Remember That Night? - Kays is a good singer and the song is pleasant enough. But this was a strong list and this suffered here as a result. 50: Low - Like CWK, glad to see Nick achieve success again on radio. This was pretty cool. 49: 1st Time - Good but Hell n Back was more memorable. 48: Pay Your Way in Pain - Great song, bad single choice. I do like the sassiness, quirkiness and energy of this but it's not surprising this didn't do that well both on radio and (compared to Los Ageless) here. 47: Freedom - Nice little tune, but not that great either. Should've put this a bit higher, though. 46: Coney Island and 44: One More Second - Just because Matt Berninger is on a track does not mean I have to love it. Yes, I still maintain his band's work is great for the most part, but just because he's singing on a track does not automatically make it all time tier. For the Taylor Swift song, it was alright but I feel the song would be better if just either of them sang. For his solo entry it was good but it doesn't hit the heights of his band's best work. 45: Identical - Phoenix on autopilot still works for me. 44: One More Second - See Coney Island 43: Madelyn - Good but I feel at this point his best single in my opinion will still be his 1st charter. 42: Let Down - Pretty fun tune, but I can see why others resonate with Better more. 41: Echoing - Not as memorable than Bandit.
Extras: Mood Ring - Pleasant but I'd figure this won't be too high on my list given how strong this year was. Handful of Water - Pretty good. The Mission - Should've done better, enough said. Keep My Name Outta My Mouth - You could kinda tell this was an old school TBK tune How Lucky - Pretty tune, and it's heartwarming to hear John Prine here. Would've liked to rank this. Know That I Know - Pretty upbeat but there's a reason why Hypotheticals was the hit this era. (and their career so far overall. Call Off Your Dogs is still a jam but it didn't achieve the success Hypotheticals had.) How Low Can You Go - Actually better than Lost on You. Questions - Great tune, should've been here. Spanish Doors - I like this one more than Good Side. Should've also done better. Therefore I Am - Fun tune but this is not AAA Move - Garbage. Anything Could Happen - Fune tune as well, I like the carefreeness of the song. Charming Mess - Okay, but not too special. Impossible Weight - Great song as well. Galacticana - Now this one hurts to miss too. The emotion expressed by Timothy Showalter through his vocals and writing here is palapble. Hot & Heavy - Why wasn't this given a proper push? Brando is great but this is more radio-friendly. Now is the Time - While Bird's last two singles (particularly Headstart) aren't as good as her first two charters, this one is. Can You Handle My Love?? - Of course it makes sense we start and end tonight's extras with Triple AC. And unlike Therefore I Am, I would've had this lower.

Kinda odd how so many songs have super short chart runs, like a song peaking at 24 and staying only 7 weeks. That rarely seems to happen on Alt or Active. Also, curious if other people think "Move" would've been bottom 5 in this rankdown. It's kinda nice to see Santana or Rob Thomas on the chart (though idk if RT's solo hits really fit outside pop/AC charts), but this doesn't seem that interesting

I think this song nails what it's going for, but I can't really say it's a song that I would revisit all that much, either. It would probably get tiring quick on repeat listens. This, meanwhile, got tiring on one listen. This gave me "Honey, I'm Good" vibes, and nothing should give me those vibes. I get the comparison, but after listening to both songs back to back, "I Need You" seems way better.

Also, curious if other people think "Move" would've been bottom 5 in this rankdown. It will be my 100 if Moon Taxi, Ben Rector, Ed Sheeran and AJR didn't show up.

I've had worse #1 placements... actually no I probably haven't. Oh well, at least it's a story to tell. 55. I Need You - Jon Batiste Music video was better than the song, but it is still kinda fun. Hoky , but fun.
54. Last Train Home - John Mayer Pretty good song. Sounds like mid 90's Alternative rock. Mute the video and you think you are watching Johnny Depp.
53. Chinatown - Bleachers f/ Bruce Springsteen falls where it should. Pleasant and melodic. On of the more forgivable cameo songs out there.
52. Skin and Bones - Cage the Elephant Good song. Sounded better to me among this list of songs.
51. Remember That Night? - Sara Kays Nice vocals. Another song that falls where it should. For some reason the song's vibe reminds me of Natalie Imbruglia.
50. Low - Chet Faker The hi-hats were annyoing as F U C K. How does this sound not make you wanna implode. Anyway this leaves me with one travesty floating in my tank.
49. 1st Time - Bakar ...and there it is. tank cleared. 'nuff siad.
48. Pay Your Way in Pain - St. Vincent I like this one more than the other one. Has a lot of attitude and sounds perfect as background music while getting a lap dance. Very sultry
47. Freedom - Illiterate Light & Devon Gilfillian I stopped previewing this one after I saw it drop 10 slots from my original placement. Could use some more BPMs.
46. Coney Island - Taylor Swift f/ The National Coney Island reminds me of The Warriors, but this song doesn't. hard for me to find use for these extra slow Ballad type diddys.
45. Identical - Phoenix Pretty cool vibe. I like the bouncy feel of the music. It's fun, but I have been forever tainted by the awesomeness that was "Ti Amo". There is just no way they can ever top that one for me.
44. One More Second - Matt Berninger This sounds like the same guy that sang with Taylor a few songs back? I'm not a National fan, but I know vocals. I'm just glad this song didn't last one more second.
43. Madelyn - Anderson East My second favorite discovery. I wasn't sure what to expect from this crowd, but I figured the ranks would be a nice split. idk what type of music this guy usually puts out, but this sounded like some fine Blue Eyed Sophistipop Soul. he has the right tones for this type of jam. Could have been a Hall & Oates song back in the day or even a Fitz and The Tantrums before they turned their Neon Soul sound into Soulless Kindergarten sing alongs. i'll be charting this one in 2022.
42. Let Down - Michigander Forgot which one I dug more, but they both sound like pretty decent Indie rock. Stuff I would rather have on the Alt charts than that Tiktok glory year we had
41. Echoing - Kings of Leon This ain't no "Sex On Fire", but it is one of their loudest. I kinda enjoyed that.

57: Making a Fire - I wonder what would happen if we all ranked the Mark Ronson version instead, seeing some stations only played that. I wouldn't have given it a top 10 ranking. That's for sure. If fact I might have struggled with top 40. Now it sounds like a camp fire song, but no beer nor collage girls. and is that Samba beat in the background? Extras:Therefore I Am - Billie EilishThey really pushed for her to get a hit on the format. I can't stand anything about Billie nor her brand of music, but even with this travesty on the list I still would have dunked that Moon Taxi wonderjam at #100. Move - Santana, Rob Thomas & American AuthorsGood Lord. What a complete misuse of Rob Thomas vocals and Santana's guitar. Sounds like a desperate attempt to recreate "Smooth" and ending up with anything , but a smooth jam . Did Rob sabotage this travesty on purpose? LOL! Anything Could Happen - Dylan Cartlidge
Sounds like something I would expect on The Brady Bunch variety hour. I don't hate it per say, I'm just not in the mood for it. Charming Mess - The Black CrowesI probably would have given this one about as high as I gave the other heritage acts on the list. It has guitars and groove, but I found myself forcing myself to like it more than it deserves to be liked. Impossible Weight - Deep Sea Diver f/ Sharon Van EttenNot only the best song here, but one I really dug. This is is probably on of those songs many and I would have slotted higher cause it sounds more alternative rock that whatever is going on on the Alternative charts these days. Seriously tho this one rocks. She has vocal range. Galacticana - Strand of Oaksironically enough I kinda found the "Drag You Down" line kinda swag worthy. His vocals are good and the song feels more heartland than folk. Love how the guitar took center stage in the final act of the song. Hot & Heavy - Lucy DacusThis would probably get quite a few high ranks. It feels a little too sugary for me. Now is the Time - Jade BirdChicks with Guitars is soo hott. I like a lot of her songs, but unfortunately this song didn't quite get my melodic funny bone twitching. Can You Handle My Love?? - WALK THE MOONThis song always struck me as one of those Glee sing alongs people would sing on the street. The music video literally catches that vibe, but that is no compliment. This band lost a lot of that dynamic edge they had at the start. SHUT UP and write another "Shut up and Dance" instead

Good to see "coney island" make the top half. Given how it's generally received among the pop fans here I was ready for a bottom half finish (it was the worst performing single on the folklore + evermore rankdown by far), but I personally love it and fully expected this to be my first top 10 loss. Speaking of The National, "One More Second" is a great song too and I wish it could've snuck into the top 40. I've meaning to check out Serpentine Prison for a long time now but I haven't gotten to it.
I would've had "Hot & Heavy" pretty high on my list but not as high as "Brando", I'm hoping that one makes it very far. Crossing my fingers for a top 10!
