“Sunblind” would’ve been top 10 on my list. I just love the calming sound of it and I wish we would’ve been able to rank it. I think I put it down as a Madness extra at some point too but I could be lying, lol.

Surprise Cold is still in rankdown. Probably wouldn't make top 25 of current year country rankdown. I mean… tractors let ZBB’s “Colder Weather” finish outside of the top 20 in its year-end rankdown so these shenanigans aren’t new but it really is disappointing to say the least. |

40: Solar Power - Good but not her best.
39: Chaise Longue - I expected more support for this but I also expected more tanking (ie bottom 10), so I'll take it at this point since this song isn't for everybody.
38: Crawling Kingsnake - Good bluesy tune from TBK, but they've had better stuff.
37: Bitter Taste - His best song in years.
36: Motorbike - Good song but one of his weaker singles
35: Better - Both Michigander songs are better than the one in 2020 imo.
34: Right on Time - Thought this would've had more support. I do like it but it's not her best work so this is where it should've landed.
33: Open Up the Heavens - Great song but why didn't this go top 10 on radio?
32: All You Ever Wanted - Good to see Rory try to make a Killers-like tune. I like it even though it barely missed my top 50
31: Vertigo - I do like Merton but I don't love her. Same goes for this song. This overstayed like Cage.
30: Hypotheticals - Jammingcat
29: Headstart - Also good but OUTH should have been higher.
28: Shy Away - Still one of their best singles in years, but I still laugh at the thought of someone in its thread thinking it could top the Triple A radio chart when there are many stations who don't even play them from the get go. (Hence the elisltism remark) This is certain their most AAA friendly single, but #1 there? Come on now.
27: Faith Healer - Burnt off me a bit but still a great song.
26: The Valley of the Pagans - Still love this but I agree they should have more radio attention this project, particularly Aries.
Extras:
I Don't Mind: Nice bluegrass turn from Sturgill.
Hope: Both Arlo songs are great.
Sunblind: More melodic indie folk from Robin and co, me likey.
Can't Stop the Rain: Good song. Like the guitar and piano on this.
Hard on Everyone: Better than Options Open. I wish we ranked this.
Making Do: Not bad but see my remarks for Know That I Know.
Don't Walk Away: Bland like the other song from them.
Greatest Enemy: Lame.
Heatwave: Yeah I would've had this high too.

40. Solar Power - Lorde
This is a nice Pop song, but the video just couldn't catapult the song into my top 50 this time around.
39. Chaise Longue - Wet Leg
Good rocking beat. The percussion rocks. I like her vocals and the lyrics. Sitting the lounge chair taking about school "encounters"
38. Crawling Kingsnake - The Black Keys
These guys can do so much better.
37. Bitter Taste - Billy Idol
Need someone to boost 80's icons on Rock RDs. Give a me ring. So happy to this jam in top 40. Billy delivers these heart felt lyrics with power.
36. Motorbike - Leon Bridges
Guy has good vocals, but I prefer the upbeat songs he had when we first started ranking him.
35. Better - Michigander
Perfect slot for the song. Should have charted on Alt too.
34. Right on Time - Brandi Carlile
Another of those boring ballads that didn't do anything for me.
33. Open Up the Heavens - Jade Bird
Chick with guitar (no pun intended), but hell yeah. Nice driving riff.
32.All You Ever Wanted - Rag'n'Bone Man
I know I tanked this guy's song some years back, but this was a surprising rockin' jam from this guy. I ranked it according to the fact that I like rockin' jams.
31. Vertigo - Alice Merton
This was a damn good song. I should have charted it since I loved her first two hits.
30. Hypotheticals - Lake Street Dive
I have liked this band since they put out "Call Off Your Dogs". They are really authentic and sound even better live, and I usually prefer studio. Nice to see all the support they get.
29. Headstart - Jade Bird
I preferred "Open Up The Heavens" but this is still has a good Pop rock feel.
28. Shy Away - twenty one pilots
One of the very few Alt Cruiseovers that I think deserves the hot slot we gave it.
27. Faith Healer - Julien Baker
This was passable. The meoldy wasn'r exactly running down my stream.
26. The Valley of the Pagans - Gorillaz f/ Beck
I won't usually put a Gorillaz who look more like zombies now song in my top 50. The credit here all goes to Becks extremely groovy vocal works.
Cool to see that my favorite first discovey here made the top 25. Still hoping it gets top 10 action.

This, meanwhile, got tiring on one listen. This gave me "Honey, I'm Good" vibes, and nothing should give me those vibes. I get the comparison, but after listening to both songs back to back, "I Need You" seems way better. Oh, I definitely do not disagree with you, but that's because "Honey, I'm Good" is one of my least favorite songs period, and almost every song in existence would seem much better in comparison. {YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHEN I WENT TO SLEEP YESTERDAY}#40: Still as inoffensively fine as ever.
#39: I really wish I liked this more. I definitely appreciate that it does something different, but it's just not something I found myself getting into. I would have been fine with it lasting longer because of that.
#38: Was hoping this would do better than the Alt performance of "Lo/Hi", but one spot below isn't the worst thing in the world, I guess.
#37: Billy is in his mid-60's, and he barely sounds like he's aged all that much. Some voices just do not age all that much.
#36: "assembling the performance histories can bring bad memories flooding back, like "Coming Home" not even being top 20" I mean, hell, not even top 25. We got "Bad Bad News" sort of right, at least.
#35: I knew this was coming before too long. I'm just glad it's higher than the other one.
#34: Brandi continues to be reliable.
#33: I think I liked both Jade songs here more than any of her songs up until this point. I do like the other one a bit more, though.
#32; Dammit, I still like "Human", warts and all. I'm still glad this did so well, though, wasn't expecting it at all.
#31: Her best song since "Lash Out", though I wouldn't say that's saying a whole lot. Better than I expected, anyway.
#30: Oh wow, I thought this was going to be top 20 fairly easily. The best Lake Street Dive song I've heard so far.
#29: lol, I missed out on perfectos on the Jade songs literally by one spot each. This is really nice.
#28: Their first song to finish in the 21-29 range, what a random stat.
#27: why is this so divisive
#26: ngl, I'm glad this didn't make the top 25. Imagine if this was "Aries" instead. |

I’m honestly really happy with this top 25! My lowest is my 43, and 20 of these songs are in my top 25 which I think is really good. Excited to see the results!
