Brett Dennen is one of my least favorite singers on AAA right now. One of the worst vocalists at least, and I do not see the appeal on why AAA PDs keep adding him.
That being said, See the World has a better melody than the other stuff I've heard from him.

My Cleveland Heart is just unrelatable to me.
Never seen the music video of See the World but why there are shots focusing on lower part of a woman? That's not what I thought when I listen to this song.
No at least the singles of Everything Now are quite good. The Great Divide is an overproduced mess.
Friend is dilute Olivia Rodrigo song.

I don't think the Spotify playlist has the same version as that Youtube video. That's because the version pushed was the Gingerbread mix.

A few short thoughts. I've covered most of these Alt cruiseover travesties on Alt RD anyway. 100. We Are the People - Martin Garrix f/ Bono & The EdgeI couldn't do much with this. WTF is Martin Garrix anyway? Bono just sounded so out of his element. 99. You - benny blanco, Marshmello & Vance JoyI hate everything about this song. The cameos. the music, the fact that it's on a AAA list and that wannabe benny blanco impersonator. 98. Follow You - Imagine DragonsFollow you straight to the abyss. 97. Survivin' - BastilleThis is kinda silly, but The music is passable...and by that I mean the brass section 96. Sword from the Stone - PassengerStill don't care for this guy's vocal tones, but the music was a bit pleasant. 95. Roll Me Mama, Roll Me - Ray LaMontagneI can't recall who this guy is, but I'm sure he has had better songs. I rolled right off my seat in a deep coma while previewing this one. 94. Colorado - Milky ChanceProbably the one time I considered something this guy released somewhat decent. Still hate his vocals. 93. Officer of Love - Caamp So I tanked a song that sounded like a Folky wonderjam. What else is new? 92. Call Me a Fool - Valerie June f/ Carla ThomasChick's tones tuned me out. 'nuff said. 91. Roots and Wings - The WallflowersI thought this one stood out on this list. Dylon's vocals are always good, and the song had a good melody. Don't understand this tank? 90. Elevator Boots - Counting CrowsI won't be tanking too many 90's acts that I thought made great music back then. This one had a bit of a Country vibe. New territory for them , but not too shabby. 89. My Cleveland Heart - Jackson BrowneThe melody is decent and it rides on electric guitars. Not his best, but has a recognizable melody to follow. 88. See the World - Brett DennenPeople really should begin to connect with melodic music again. This had a really nice melody and he was channeling Tom Petty. I don't remember ever hearing the song before and yet the lyrics just came to me. The song's message of seeing the world clashes with the video's foot fetish, but I'm never gonna tank a song that rides on this melody. 87. The Great Divide - The ShinsI really don't recall anything from this band so I had nothing to compare this one too. I thought it was pretty pleasant and I like how his vocals went up. 86. Friend - Gracie AbramsFor a girl with pretty decent vocals this bored me immensely.

Doing well so far! “Colorado” sucked so much that I knew it was going to be my #100 when I listened to it. But this list was so strong, I don’t mind stuff in my 80s so I’m actually surprised at how well I’m doing. I thought I’d lose some pretty high ranks early.

{HEY, AT LEAST THIS TIME, I'M NOT DOING A WORD WALL BECAUSE I'M OLD}#100: This is literally only (barely) here because half of U2 decided to work with Martin. Somehow not the most generic song on this list, but certainly the most generic song that's AAA-exclusive. #99: Oh, hey, speak of the generic devil! #98: Two spots too high. #97: ...two spots too high lol #96: Passenger continues to be boring? No way! #95: Easily this rankdown's biggest disappointment. Ray can be so much better than this. #94: This could have been a decent song if not performed by an act incapable of performing it correctly. #93: They're getting progressively worse, and I didn't think they were particularly good to start with. #92: Expected more from this, but there's very little for me to latch on to here. #91: Was anyone really asking for these guys to come back? I mean, really? #90: Well, this existed. #89: I probably underranked this, but 85 is around the point where this list starts getting decent. #88: zzzzzzzzz #87: Holy crap, that's a perfect description of this song, gates. I've never been the biggest Shins fan, but, even still, they have a niche that has its fans, and I won't fault them for that. This ain't it. #86: Honestly, this doesn't sound all that bad, but it's also dime a dozen, and this totally would have been cast aside like thousands of songs just like it if not for her connections.

Similar to Doc's #thefallofalt, I will be tagging songs I disapprove of with #DownWithTripleAC.
100. We Are the People: #DownWithTripleAC. Triple AC will eat up anything from Bono's mouth, and this and "Your Song Saved My Life" are examples of that. The latter at least we won't be ranking. This song is lame as is.... 99. You: #DownWithTripleAC. No. 98. Follow You: #DownWithTripleAC. As I've mentioned, these guys don't belong on this format anymore. The fact that WCLZ (Portland Maine AAA) who used to play more interesting stuff decided to flip to the Triple AC playbook (i.e. removing most of their indie-leaning songs, playing the same old artists regardless of song quality, adding in more alt crossovers, including those they've never added before, THIS included, overplaying the hit songs, and ignoring most indie songs now such as Beach House and Snail Mail) is saddening. KBCO, WTTS and Sirius Spectrum also use this method to run their music selections. Guess what to enrage further: 2 of them didn't even add Japanese Breakfast, and the first two added that boring new Lumineers song before the new Mitski! EXCUSE ME FOR A MINUTE! (KBCO is also the remaining holdout for alt-J's "U&Me")
/endrant 97. Survivin: #DownWithTripleAC. Easily one of their worst singles. 96. Sword from the Stone: #DownWithTripleAC. Pretty milquetoast. 95. Roll Me Mama, Roll Me: Boring. I predicted this would flop here in the 2020 RD and I nailed it. 94. Colorado: #DownWithTripleAC. Embarrassing even for their standards. This is laughable. 93. Officer of Love: Boring as well. 92. Call Me a Fool: I knew this would be bottom 10 because her vocals are not everyone's cup of tea. But this really grew on me over time. 91. Roots and Wings: Wallflowers-auto-generated tune. Not bad but not something I'd willingly chart. 90. Elevator Boots: This grew on me a bit, but still not good enough to make my top half. 89. My Cleveland Heart: Decent tune but my comments are similar to #91 and #90 based on how strong this list is. 88. See the World: I absolutely despise Brett Dennen. Or rather, his presence on the charts, because in my opinion, his singing is terrible. Yet he still gets to waste chart space instead of the indie I'm rooting for. But like I said, this song was actually okay, and the melody was what kept it outside my bottom 10. I cannot say the same about Paul Newman Daytona Rolex, which I would've tanked had it not flopped. 87. The Great Divide: Easily their worst single. And since they tried to poppify their sound, #DownWithTripleAC applies here as well. 86. Friend: Not bad but also not great, not something I'd boost. This has like close to 0 recurrent airplay now, and that is saying something. Once again, #DownWithTripleAC to a lesser extent, we didn't need this.
Extras: R U 4 Me? is great. Nice little indie rock tune. 662 is cool, but I think it'd be around the middle of my list. Two would've been nice to rank. Afterglow is much better than Bad Habits. It's not great, but there's more authenticity and likeability to it than BH or Shivers. However, it also wouldn't end up high on the list, it would've been tanked/ended bottom half, and we do not need that, so once again, #DownWithTripleAC. Trick to Happy is alright. I Hear the Ax Swinging is pretty cool. It's a Good Day (To Fight the System) would also been interesting to rank, and as I mentioned, it's probably the closest thing to Jessie Ware on a rock rankdown due to her co-writes with her. Wolves is good and better than some of the other stuff the veterans put out recently.

ONCEAFUCKINGGAIN The Shins get horribly robbed in a Pulse rankdown. I knew this was doomed since New Slang landed at 78 in the 2000s RD but this is just ridiculous. #JusticeForShins

I usually like Martin Garrix more than most EDM but We Are The People is just boring and lame. His song "Summer Days" with Patrick Stump and Macklemore of all people is a really solid pop song imo.

I expected You to leave early because people hate fun but aw man See the World gone so soon too? I love Brett Dennen's voice so much. Hope we can rank Paul Newman Daytona Rolex in 2022's year-end, it's pretty much just as great.
