Because attaching collabs onto albums for total SPS has obviously become common in the current era? Un Dia/Prisoner is on Dua's album, Sam Smith's recent album had like 3 collab singles released over 2 years attached onto it, Senorita added to Camila's album, etc, etc. They were released in the last few months preceding the album (except for Lost In The Fire which I mistakenly thought was a 2021 single) and don't seem to be intended for an album by Swedish House/Post at the moment so yeah... it's not insane to simply wonder if they were gonna instead be on Weeknd's album. MTAF is confirmed to be on SHM's upcoming album. I'm sure Post will slap ORN onto his next project. But I do agree, I wouldn't be shocked to see either one on a deluxe version or something in the future. Moth To A Flame got tacked onto a Deluxe.

Meanwhile, Lipa lands her fourth Hot 100 top 10, after βNew Rulesβ (No. 6, February 2018); βDonβt Start Nowβ (No. 2, March 2020); and βLevitatingβ (No. 2, May 2021). Why does it feel like she has so much more??? because her fans are very loud per capita Also, her 4 top 10 hits have been huge. So it does seem odd sheβs only had 4.

I wish it would have been SYT that would have stayed recurrent instead of BL, so we could have had the last 4 YE #2βs on the recurrent chart at the same time, bookended with the 2018 and 2021 YE #2βs.
Sunflower is in good position to set the longevity record on the recurrent chart by the end of the year.

It's the end of an Era. For more than a decade, I looked at the HOT 100 straight from Billboard.com. Not gonna pay to subscribe, thank you. Now I come to Pulse, and see all the chart action. also, it's easier to view Gary's plaintext than scrolling through all the billboard clunkiness. much appreciated with the shares every week, now more than ever.

I swear to you no one cares how many YE #2s chart next week or how many "super" recurrents drop again.

Admittedly, we are all pretty passionate about something that other people don't care much about, and to the average casual we probably all seem like that ourselves.

Expressing annoyance is fine as long as you're not actively trying to be mean to him. Some people here do cross that line a bit. Assuming he's not a troll (which is genuinely hard to tell), I suspect he might be kinda special needs tbh.

Ok I usually just lurk but really, y'all are ridiculous for no reason. This is a super niche hobby that we all share, and I truly will never understand the constant hostility in these threads. Like seriously, we all enjoy chart watching, we probably all have our own certain chart records or songs or whatever that we follow. If you disagree with someone's take or don't care about a song they're talking about...literally IGNORE it.
The internet is a brutal place and piling on someone is just a shitty thing to do.

Kinda agree. There is a limit where someone can take charts TOO seriously (stans for example) but we don't need comments everytime someone is posting about records "oh charts are irrelevant" I mean... yeah, we know. We can still enjoy analyzing them. Calling someone out for being a nerd doesn't make you cool when you're also here, on this site, as a chart watcher.

Not yall sick of the shxt! I might've missed this convo, but how much is BTS going to be affected by the change? Big or no? They'll have to rely on physical singles if they want those #1 hits. They're the only act that was still sort of moving digital copies. It will also impact some frontloaded & fan driven acts like Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj to a lesser degree.

Not yall sick of the shxt! I might've missed this convo, but how much is BTS going to be affected by the change? Big or no? the stans say not at all (copium), the haters say they're done for sure (hopium) when realistically, it's probably something in the middle. They'll probably still get the number one debuts from the sheer amount of fans they have willing to buy it and it's 3 versions plus the physicals week 1. But then the lack of GP support/streams from non YouTube sources will catch up MUCH quicker. Looking something like "(insert single 6) debuts at 1 with 400 points" then "Single 6 by BTS drops (can't say plummets or the stans will dox Billboard staff) to 9" then 9-33-40-45-57-90-out. Only for the next "hit" number one to have 3 weeks on the chart.

Honestly I feel like their chart runs are about to start to look a lot less like Butter and a lot more like Permission To Dance (hitting #1 included)

Honestly I feel like their chart runs are about to start to look a lot less like Butter and a lot more like Permission To Dance (hitting #1 included) To be fair other than Dynamite and Butter, the rest of their songs have done all more or less the same. They got top 10 debuts consistently without the gimmicks. What got into people's nerves enough for a rule change to happen was the way Butter was kept at #1 without it ever translating into tangible impact on the market (outside of the same people buying over and over the same song). Greatdivine just posted a stat on the other Hot 100 thread that was interesting: they sold 2.95m digital singles last year. #2, Dua Lipa only did 0.9m. Even if it's halved with the new rule they still do 1.5m which is healthy but maybe not enough to deem the chart totally useless on a consistent basis like they did all summer long last year.
