I'm noticing that the "Sacrifice" snippet has a similar sound to "Thriller". I'm not surprised their pushing this tbh as the next single.

Don't they think it's a little too late for this?

Adele's releasing the Oh My God video next week. Apparantley a number of her celeb friends cameo in the video. Great to see confirmation of the video! Hopefully it'll help propel the song back into the top 10 of the Hot 100, or a new peak. Although it's being released on a Wednesday.

Don't they think it's a little too late for this? Well personally I don't think that they thought that it's too late to push "Brutal" to Pop, Or else why would they have even bothered to service this song to that Format. Heck I could very well see this song become a decent sized hit on Pop if all goes well.

I'm fully expecting to have a dozen of these Olivia Rodrigo-esque heartbroken teenage singer-songwriters by the end of the year ngl, Fingers Crossed and (arguably) abcdefu feel like a taste of whats to come for better or worse

If we get more rock-esque stuff, I'm here for that!

Honestly I'm expecting an influx of new artists this year - either new to the charts, or acts that have debuted in the last two or three years taking the top spot, or at least charting very high. I think that we can expect Laroi and Jack getting hits and maybe releasing their albums, and Olivia at least beginning her next chapter. These three, along with Lil Nas X, really seem like the future of mainstream music at the moment to me

Iβm rooting for the bottom one to make it, so it can spend 4 different years on the Hot 100 (but I think you all knew that).

LNX and Billie are the king and queen of Gen Z music. You may be wondering why I think Billie over Olivia. We have yet to see if Olivia's more than just a flash in the pan, one era wonder. Billie's already had a huge impact on music since 2019. Although her success has faltered a bit, if she keeps going with the experimental rock sound (Happier Than Ever), I think she'll be a force in 2022 as well.

I think Billie and Olivia are far too young and unproven to be queens of anything yet. HTE did alright but it was a step down from her debut numbers wise. And Olivia could be a one era wonder.
Love them both and there are clear paths for both to have long careers. But at one point Kesha was also going to rule the 2010s... and Meghan Trainor, Alessia Cara and Lorde...

I think Billie proved that she's capable of making brilliant music with her second album. Olivia? We'll have to wait for her second album.

She actually sounds better live than she does on record. I know it would've thrown off the whole alphabet schtick, but I would've sang "screw you", assuming they wouldn't let me sing "F U".

The Billie and Olivia comparison is weird. Their music isn't even remotely comparable so there is that. Secondly Olivia's music is much more radio friendly then anything Billie has released.

Looked up who's that Fingers Crossed singer because the name was familiar and oh American Idol contestant so I suddenly remember who she is! But that was the COVID affected season where it went virtual on the live shows an she didn't make it far.

What's the point of recurrent rules if they can just 'randomly' re-enter? I thought there had to be an 'event' or something for re-entry to happen.

Fingers Crossed is like Happier Than Ever X generic Olivia Rodrigo song but bad
While I really don't like abcdefu I get the appeal, but this one is baffling because the composition is boring, the production is underwhelming and the vocals are extremely unpleasant
If this is what's going to dominate the charts for the next year or two then honestly I would've just preferred if we stuck to the boring trap, those songs where awful, but at least they were listenable in a specific environment and they weren't dependant on relating to the vocalist

I had no idea Ruth B of all people had a song from her 2017 debut album on the US Spotify charts (albeit quite low down) until Dremβs most recent update. And I find that kinda funny because in light of all the βemo sadgirlβ songs blowing up on TikTok right now, she preceded that trend by 5 years with Lost Boy blowing up on Vine before it got expanded to a real song. That song sucks (like a lot of hits in 2016 did), but I can respect it for being ahead of its time in that regard.

Olivia's brilliant album is like 10 spots higher on critics' year end lists than billie's sophomore effort. Who cares about critics lists though? In my opinion Sour is a bland, boring album that is no way comparable to the masterpiece that is HTE.

I would think Woman, Sand in My Boots, You Should Probably Leave, Buy Dirt and Happier among the songs with more than 20 weeks in the Hot 100 will manage to survive since they are either at their peak radio audience or near it.
