Meanwhile, Lipa lands her fourth Hot 100 top 10, after “New Rules” (No. 6, February 2018); “Don’t Start Now” (No. 2, March 2020); and “Levitating” (No. 2, May 2021). Why does it feel like she has so much more??? because her fans are very loud per capita

It's also true that Dua Lipa has had a fair amount of longevity and success on songs that have not hit the top ten like Break My Heart, IDGAF, One Kiss, Love Again, and We're Good. She also has a vocal fanbase, and those things will make her seem big when she has not had a lot of top ten hits so far.

Dua has released only two albums. Four top ten hits is pretty good.

Why does it feel like she has so much more??? The latter 2 were some of the biggest hits this decade so far as well. I guess her team likes focusing on making one huge smash at a time and now its Cold Heart’s turn to get the treatment despite it being Elton’s song (or more of a mashup). Speaking of that, i find it stunning how he had more higher monthly listeners than her a couple weeks ago, and right now he’s the 6th most streamed in the world. Elton John being a household name in 2022 feels so out of place, especially as he’s been around since the 60s and on his *32nd album*.

I'm totally here for Elton smashing. It's a bit like Cher situation in the 90s. All it takes is 100% likeability and music to connect with. Being unnecessary edgy and ignorant won't give anyone hits when they are over 50 let alone 70. Also, Elton has been present under the public eye all this time despite not being really relevant for pop charts. The collaboration with Dua and PNAU is not forced at all, in fact it sounds very "him" but also current at the same time. Bravo!

It'd be cool if female veterans like Cher, Madonna, Janet, Celine and also Mariah, could score some new (non Xmas) comeback top 10 hits, even though with the help of some hot artists, including (likr them or not), BTS.
Who cares if they need some hot artists to stay relevant. Maybe haters will consider "desperate".
But Coldplay did it. Elton did it. Any veteran comeback story is great for Hot 100 chart watcher.

I've said it before - Cold Heart appeals to both young and old listeners in a unique way that no other songs charting rn do. That's why I think it'll end up going #1 within the next couple months. And it's just a great song in general

On the subject of veterans getting big hits, 2 1/2 months after it's peak If I Didn't Love You is still charting higher than anything Carrie has released post 2014.

It's 2022, not reaching top 10 doesn't mean a song isn't a hit. Dua has 5 hit songs off FN (DSN, Physical, Levitating, Break My Heart, Love Again) which is fantastic.

There are 26 country songs in Hot 100 right now. Must be a record minus the album bombs.

^The video posted above has a clear error. At #98 it has Bad Moon Rising, when it should be Bad Man, LOL!
Not surprisingly, all 29 dropouts this week in the Hot 100 were holiday songs. Hot 100 Recurrents also returned to normal with the big surprise there is Post Malone having two songs in the top 10.

It's great to see Elton J. scoring a hit at this stage, but, yeah, "Cold Heart" surely would be the hit it is - at least in the USA - if it were a solo track.

I mean, there is a good reason: it's not #25 or higher, so it didn't come back. The predictions that had it making it had it within margin of error to be #26 or lower.
This, by the way, since nobody bothered to mention it when people were mocking it, is what "super-recurrency" is referring to: songs that dropped out after 52 weeks and thus need to be #25 or higher (with an impetus/corrective) to re-enter.

I wonder what the big appeal of We Don't Talk About Bruno is. It doesn't feel anyway special like Let It Go, or stand out anymore than any Disney song since then. Also, let's hope Levitating somehow makes it on the 2022 year end chart

It just goes to show that the recurrent rules are dumb and inconsistent. I’d be fine if there was a rule that made songs ineligible from returning after the holiday season. At least that would be consistent. What we have now is stupid. My stance on this has been consistent even since Sunflower got royally screwed by these rules 2 years ago. There was no good reason why Sucker and I Don’t Care (among many others) were charting, but not Sunflower. Just like this week there is no good reason why LTDO and Chasing After You are charting this week, but not BL. Both "CAY" and "IIDLY" were on the Hot 100 prior to the holiday deluge, whereas "BL" was not. So, the first two were likely allowed to re-enter as they hadn't hit recurrency yet so it's the Hot 100 returning to normal, whereas "BL" was already recurrent so it's a different situation. What does it even matter? "BL" is already #1 all-time, so it not charting this Hot 100 doesn't prevent it from a record or whatever.

LTDO went recurrent in November, the same time when Sunflower went recurrent two years ago. The whole thing is inconsistent and confusing. It’s like they pick and choose which songs return and which stay recurrent. Then again, this whole mess could be avoided if Christmas songs are ineligible to chart.

I think we’ve all been overreacting he’s gonna be more than just fine for now especially the featured songs actually getting longevity. One Right Now is still a flop though according to pulse..

In the Streaming Songs chart, 13 out of the top 14 are holdovers from last week. The remainder of the chart are either re-entries or debuts.
