Some examples of big charting hits/famous hits but after years/decades, end up becoming underrated or (probably) forgotten among the musicians'catalogs? Just because these musicians produced so many bigger/more famous hits?
Imo: - Mariah Carey - Dreamlover/Honey/One Sweet Day - Beyonce - Baby Boy - Lady Gaga - Just Dance - Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl - Bruno Mars as a feature on Nothin' On You
More examples?

I don't know if I'd call this song truly forgotten (it was in the Spider-Verse soundtrack a few years ago), but I'd say that this might just be the single most underrated hit song of the 1980s. EDIT: Do the artists have to have had long and illustrious careers? I know that John Parr was a borderline one-hit wonder, Todd In The Shadows even did an episode of OHW on this song.

A Whitney Houston song that flies under the radar quite a bit is "Exhale." People tend to forget not only was it a #1, but it also spent 10 weeks at #2 (thanks to One Sweet Day).

Exhale has a huge urban audience. We associate that song with the WTES so it gets its appreciation from urban. As far as primarily pop listeners, the song definitely flies under the radar

Crocodile Rock by Elton John? One of the best 70's rock songs that hit #1 but it feels like hardly anyone knows it

Crocodile Rock by Elton John? One of the best 70's rock songs that hit #1 but it feels like hardly anyone knows it I hear this one all the time on Classic Hits stations, so it's certainly not forgotten, at least by those programmers. If you want an Elton John song that was huge at the time but now feels a bit underrated in his catalog, try Philadelphia Freedom. It was huge back in 1975, but it's kinda fallen to the wayside since. Which is a shame, because it's a great Philly soul track celebrating the USA, even despite coming from a Brit.

"Philadelphia Freedom" still does get some play, but probably deserves more and not just because it was a #1 hit. On the other side of the coin is "Tiny Dancer", which gets played everywhere--never mind that it originally only peaked at #41. (I like PF better.)

Someone mentioned All For You??? It was the last popular Janet's hit. And today isnt it still popular?
Maybe Doesnt Really Matter is a better choice. It was big in 2000 but these days, even fans rarely talk about it.
I may add Kesha's We R Who We R.

I did because even though it was huge in 2001, it is hardly mentioned or remembered when people (outside of Janet's fans) mention her songs. They go for the Control, Rhythm Nation, Janet, and Vekvet Rope era. Anything after Veltet Rope the GP doesn't mention at all. And I will agree with you on DRM.

Regarding Kesha, "We R Who We R" seems to me to have gotten more attention over time than most of her hits other than "Tik Tok" and maybe "Die Young". OTOH, "Your Love Is My Drug" and "Blow" seemingly vanished from the earth as well as the charts in 2010-11.

Nothing juicy, just up until somewhat recently she performed Walk Away at just about every event she could shove it in lol. Pretty sure she just loved performing it.

Karyn White- Romantic. It's like her 2nd album is ignored when Romantic is her only #1 hit. Anything from her first talcum is remembered but not Romantic.

Honestly Psycho by Posty. It hit #1 like four years ago but it's already been forgotten. With all of his other massive smashes, this one just doesn't seem comparably as big or anywhere as well-remembered (or liked even)

“Independent Women, Part 1” by Destiny’s Child spent 11 weeks at #1, yet for some reason doesn’t feel as big today as “Say My Name,” “Bills, Bills, Bills” and “Survivor.”

The Supremes- The Happening True story: Earlier today, I heard "The Happening" in a store and it came to mind that it was a great example of a forgotten song of an act's catalog, especially considering it hit #1. Then again, if it's so forgotten, why did I just hear it playing, 56 years after its release!
