Nothing about this makes sense. Why wasn't she performing at the VMAs to promote her album and her upcoming tour? Why isn't she touring now instead of announcing a 2025 tour to promote an album that no one will remember by then? There are pictures of her vacationing recently LOL. Yeah, I don't get not even showing up at the VMAs. I have to assume she was invited and she could have at least looked hot/mingled/got some reaction shots? It's also been way too long to announce a new single unless they really are giving up on this cd, at least in its standard form. I have to assume they have a deluxe or re-release planned to revive interest and not just...6-7 months of nothing before the tour?

From one pop-superstar to another - we're elated to announce that Dua Lipa is officially set to take the stage to celebrate 2024 Inductee Cher at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction, music’s highest honor, LIVE October 19th on Disney+! We’re levitating, we're so excited. #RockHall2024

The memes on Twitter about how no one on the audience is gonna know the lyrics for the Radical Optimism tracks are kinda funny tho (and sadly accurate).
God I miss her first tour. Constant hustling, multiple social media posts a week... she was hungry for the fame and it was very fun to follow her rise.

She must not have a prior vacation planned for that week, for some reason.

Dua isn't big enough for the SB, but this would be a great chance for her.

iHeartRadio Music Festival performance:
Also, "Illusion (Regard Remix)", which was an Amazon Music exclusive, is now widely available for those interested:

Dua isn't big enough for the SB, but this would be a great chance for her. this would get around 2B viewership, while the SB gets 150M but okay sure she isnt big enough in the US for a SB..

Dua has a solid chart performance in the US, but not so much that she could perform solo IMO. FIFA WC is a different thing, people wouldn't care much who's performing, and Dua has A LOT of WW hits, especially in Europe, where the World Cup is VERY popular.

I phrased it bad bc that is exactly what I was saying, SB is a very big stage for the industry and very US-focused, Dua is just not near that level in the US whatsoever. However, for such a big worldwide audience (with big focus in Europe and South America), I do think she would be a big and good fit, since those are her two continents where she is huge.

The World Cup is still 2 years away. If she doesn't keep her profile and her music on the radios until then they'll probably not even consider her. But yeah she'd be a great fit.

She loves big eras so I do think 2025 will be for touring and more RO droplets and stuff... I do think if they include it in her schedule, they may input it within the new era and fit in new songs and hopefully new hits. Like her numbers for this era are below FN yes but.. they are not that bad? She just lost her US audience again, but Houdini is a major european hit, including a #1 female song of the year in France so far, which is like... one of the toughest markets. In terms of female stars nowadays, I see few that would make sense for a WC. Shakira obv due to Waka Waka, but like no sabrina or olivia or taylor or ariana or bey would make sense. She is kinda the obvious choice as far as females go. she has 5 2B+ songs (that were even bigger in Europe/SA than elsewhere), her discography is insane for its size

These are the submissions for the GRAMMYs next year.
• Radical Optimism: Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album • "Houdini": Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Music Video • "Houdini" (Adam Port Remix): Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical • "Illusion": Best Music Video

I think she can pull the Pop Vocal nom for the album but not win. I also think Houdini can make Pop Solo and Remixed Recording, with 'Illusion' having the better shot at Video. I don't know that she can pull any noms in the majors.

Not even for Best Pop Dance Recording? Seems like a missed opportunity.

She is just THE most unbothered pop star ever, I sort of love it.

Those who were there at her Royal Albert Hall show were evidently told not to be filming (although those orders were ignored) since it will be filmed for some sort of special (hopefully there will be a live album released as well).
This was the setlist:

Dua Lipa with Cher at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was Iconic. Dua Lipa channeled Cher so well and showed her talent. Smart move on Dua's part since it brings her into Rock and Roll Royalty. Everything about Dua's performance screamed Talent and Star Power!!! Cher seemed to love Dua's performance, talent and vibe. 2 Legends. One old and Forever, one new and bursting out.

Dua has a nice voice, but I think it's more suited for stripped-down types of performances, like Tiny Desk.

I will listen again.
