Really solid EP! Their next single should be in here and impact soon. What It's Like Loving You is hit!

What It’s Like Loving You sounds like the hit of the album, but i could see them going with the Stapleton duet due to that name value. It’s also good. This EP is good, not great to me. M&T are so talented, but to me their debut was still their best collective effort.

All of these songs are decent (I like "Don't Make Her Look Dumb", "Wish You the Best" and "Strangers" best). It just feels like Maddie & Tae have slowly been losing what made them special... I absolutely loved all of Start Here and liked about half of The Way It Feels, but I don't feel much of anything about their music anymore. They've moved further and further towards these bland country pop melodies and productions and away from their wheelhouse: songs like "Waitin' on a Plane", "Shut Up and Fish", and "Die From a Broken Heart". It's an interesting shift to me considering how much more accepting country radio is of traditional-leaning sounds than it was 7 years ago when M&T broke out.
Or maybe I'm still just bitter about "I Don't Need to Know" not being a single.

Or maybe I'm still just bitter about "I Don't Need to Know" not being a single.I actually agree with this for the most part (I think I liked more of The Way It Feels than you it seems like haha) but this album (? EP?) fell flat mostly for me. All the songs are pleasant and there aren't any bad songs by any means, but does anything stand out in a huge way? Not really, although "Don't Make Her Look Dumb" and "Wish You the Best" (which feels like their version of "Best Days of Your Life") did catch my attention. Also, listening to the album, I feel like I can understand why "Woman You Got" was chosen as the single. "What It's Like Loving You" and "Wish You the Best" seem like single options but the others don't really seem that radio-friendly to me, at least based on first impression.

I gave this a listen recently and wasn't blown away by any of the songs, although I didn't dislike them either. I can't imagine they will score a hit with any of them and that worries my slightly regarding the future prospect of having a volume 2 released at some point.
