any time he doesn't release something it's a "missed opportunity". Same with acts like Rihanna. The hype is through the roof with either of those acts, they'll break records once they come back Yeah. Pent up demand is the king for artists that have mostly quiet for such a long time. I just hope this doesn’t turn into a Roddy R type disappointment

US Apple Music Top Songs 46 NEW Becky G. & KAROL G - MAMIII This is pretty big for a Latin female song under in 12 hours... it would be nice if becky could have her 2nd highest peaking song be higher than #70.

I just checked Becky G’s artist history page on Billboard.com, and as it turns out, despite charting several other songs after Shower, she’s never had a song peak above #70 since then. It would be interesting if MAMIII is the song that officially breaks her one-hit wonder status on the Hot 100. EDIT: You beat me to it, fridayteenage

We seen that he still got it with his feature on Family Ties. Even if this new single is a ‘disappointment’, it’ll probably be an Adele or Ed level compared to a Roddy one. Also the missed opportunity was really crucial for this weekend as he could’ve performed it on the Superbowl and have record breaking numbers but i guess not.

Not sure how his label or team would mess up such an opportunity

EDIT: You beat me to it, fridayteenageIt still amazes me how she went the Latin way and managed to turn her career around at an immediate 180. She has 2 music videos at 2 billion views and those songs were pretty big internationally but sadly never crossed over in the US, while Shower is quite the opposite sitting at around 450M views. You think it would feel as if she’s not a one hit wonder here but the Latin market is still not as big unless if there’s a remix with an English artist or if you have just as much English in the song to cross over.

Kendrick Lamar in the studio like "yea this new music is great and people have been waiting for it for 5 years and I'm literally performing at the Super Bowl this weekend. Don't drop it"

not even in top 200 AM .. this is staggeringly alarming for artists of their caliber

I'm not really surprised. Taylor has barely acknowledged its existence and most of her fans (including myself) weren't/aren't excited about it. It being a boring ballad doesn't help. Her fanbase only really comes out for her own songs (see: her HAIM and Big Red Machine collabs that didn't do much either; obviously Ed is a bigger name but still).
I'm sure it's doing better on Spotify, though.

I think you have to consider when artists are big in other genres when discussing one-hit wonder status. Technically, looking at the Top 40, Garth Brooks, Jimi Hendrix, NWA, and the Grateful Dead are one-hit wonders. Not that I'm saying Becky G is necessarily on that level but she's clearly more than just "Shower". Chart stats always need context to get the full picture.

Even if it smashes on Spotify, this is a lacklustre showing in my humble opinion .

Yeah in relation to Becky G, I would not say she's a one hit wonder at all and would even go as far as saying Mayores and Sin Pijama are far bigger hits than Shower. I feel like she's a more well known reggaeton act than "The Shower girl"
EDIT: Listened to MAMIII and it's nothing special but it's a fine reggaeton song and with it getting streamed on AM, I hope this means we can finally get a female Top 40 reggaeton hit (Tusa peaked at #42 and telepatia isn't reggaeton)

Kendrick Lamar in the studio like "yea this new music is great and people have been waiting for it for 5 years and I'm literally performing at the Super Bowl this weekend. Don't drop it" I mean, no one would ever perform a new song at the Super bowl that just debut 2 days ago. So why would he drop a new single, but perform an old hit that would then overshadow the new song? The better strategy would be to drop a new song the Friday after the super bowl when he’s got all the hype and momentum going.

She posted on instagram, if we're being so obsessive about people that we're stalking who posts what on social media.

Nicki & Lil Baby with 2 top 10s on Apple Music, while Pulse darlings Ed & Taylor not even in the top 100. 2022 is off to a great start in my book!

And will you have this energy when it's quite the opposite on spotify? I mean even if Nicki/Lil Baby are lower than them on Spotify, I guarantee you it wont be anywhere near the gap on Apple Music. And I always felt like Ed was a darling here. Anytime I complain about his unusually high airplay compared to his streaming numbers, I usually get people who clapback…just like right now.

I’m not personally invested in any of these 4 artists so to me I see it as people pointing out their view of how they read the numbers. At the end of the day , no pov will change the outcome on any given Monday 😂

She posted on instagram, if we're being so obsessive about people that we're stalking who posts what on social media. Um, except she didn't. Can you show that post? Plus, following major superstars' social media about their latest releases isn't stalking!! lol I guess I'm not too invested in its performance though, it will do what it will do. It's a very nice, pleasant duet to have come out, and neither artist really needs another hit now.

You of all Taylor stans is going to catch an attitude about someone 'memorizing' and being 'obsessive' with the most random information relating to her?
Ok I'll post something on her that's moreso up your alley. She is the first blonde-haired, Pennsylvania-native, born in 1989 to chart with 10 album tracks from their 7th album in the 21st century. Is that better?

apparently memorizing something that happened months ago. and what's wrong with that? I'm not sure about the state of your memory, but "months ago" isn't that far back. Also, please fix your pfp, having to type around your glitched username is annoying
